Love them or hate them, the Saftas had a nominees announcement media thingie on Thursday evening. The media came out in their numbers and were hard at work. Magazines, newspapers, bloggers and TV people were all there hoping 7de Laan will come cause some major drama. It was such a disappointment that the Afrikaans soapie didn’t give some drama at the event. Mina I hoped to be Oodendalled last night but I wasn’t.
Anyway, the thingie happened in Melrose Arch at The Venue. In all honesty, the event was boring to be quite frank and there wasn’t anything interesting about it as it wasn’t wow at all. Mara I shall forgive the organisers because the initial thingie cannot be more mega than the main event. Plus, mina I saved my not yet available tuxedo for 11 March.
Y’all know who got what nomination and who didn’t. I had a good chat with KB and Nokukthuka Ledwaba. Before KB could join us, Nokuthula was telling me that we at TVSA wrote something about her on the Feathers article I did and I forgot exactly what she said but it had to do with one blogger saying something about her personality.
I protested my innocence, said it wasn’t me as I only wrote the article and it must have been one of the bloggers who commented. But shem poor Nokuthula said it in good spirits to show me that she indeed is an avid TVSA reader. We are glad that she is one of our silent bloggers. She is such a lovely person, I think I like her, a lot!
When KB joined us, I asked if they would pose for me which they did happily and I put it to them that Isidingo and Rhythm City are the best soapies in South Africa - said Isidingo was their toughest competition and Nokuthula just rolled her eyes. “Did you see that? It must say something to you,” said KB. “I did but still, Isidingo is very real and deals with real issues. While on the other hand, Rhythm City is also real with fast-paced storylines. If it isn’t Naomi it is David Genaro. The drama never ends,” I said. KB said Rhythm City attracts a huge audience who demand and get drama.
Nokuthula said Isidingo is also a good production with great cast and ensemble. She also said as much as Isidingo deals with “real issues”, it is too political and Rhythm City is about kasi and the rich and the famous which isn’t too heavy on politics.
I think Nokuthula has a point here. KB even said to me that Rhythm City aims to cater for everyone and it is doing exactly just that so well hence people keep on tuning in.
It was great chatting to the Rhythm City ladies and I really enjoyed appreciating KB’s body in the mini number that she rocked. She looked beautiful and stunning and so did Nokuthula.
Mina as I arrived, Zizo Beda was busy doing her interviews for that SABC 1 show whose name I just forgot but will come back to me just now. A little later in the evening, she posed for me and also posed with me. Zizo just has one hell of a great smile and is just photogenic. I love her perfectly matte face without the oil.
I spoke with Sipho Xolisa Tshapu, who is a storyliner at Isidingo and used to write Isidingo articles on TVSA. I forgot to ask him if he will still be writing more articles for us. Anyway, I asked him and his actor Ashish to pose for me and the pic was out of focus and didn’t notice it at that point in time.
I spotted actor and director Tony Kgoroge without his wife Sthandiwe. Tony was busy doing some interviews and mina I just took pictures while he and the presenter( I do not know her because I don’t really watch that much TV) were busy on record.
There was an art gallery opening just opposite The Venue and I saw Kuli attending the two do’s simultaneously. The art gallery is called “The Object of art Sibisi” and Simphiwe Dana was also there. My date managed to get a pic with Tshepo who is a comedian and a Tropika what what contestant.
Eish, yazi I have to go back to work now, y’all can so long marvel and or criticise the pics.
