The noise about Whitney just simply won’t go away. After US tabloid, the National Enquirer redefined stooping low by having a model pose as a dead Whitney, they continued their outrageous reporting and managed to get a picture of Whitney in her coffin at a private viewing by family and friends.
Since her body was in the morgue, Whitney’s corpse received 24/7 security and was never left alone. Security guards took turns is guarding her body to ensure no paparazzi snapped her in the morgue.
However, at a private viewing, someone managed to take a picture and sell it to the National Enquirer, who are expected to be smiling all the way to the bank and receive performance bonuses. The publication is a tabloid and did everything within the borders of its scope i.e that of being an outrageous tabloid. The world has reacted with shock and fear and many are petrified by the publication’s actions.
Whitney’s family is fuming and demands answers and accountability from Funeral Home – the company that was taking care of the funeral arrangements. The owner of Funeral Home claims to have been Whitney’s friend and claims she travelled with her coffin to where the private viewing was gonna take place.
Meanwhile, for the bereaved Houston family, the National Enquirer front picture is another devastating blow for them.
It is reported that Whitney is buried with jewellery worth over R4m. She apparently wore gold sleepers and her favourite purple dress as seen in the coffin pic.
Responding to media questions, the editor of the tabloid said Whitney looked “beautiful” and the picture was”like a work of art”.
After all is said and done, one thing remains clear about Whitney Houston as fans aptly put it: “Whitney, we will always love you”.
