I promised myself I wouldn’t cry and I am not gonna cry. Yes, all good things must come to an end. I have been writing Monday World for the past two years and I did try all I could to have fellow bloggers stand in for me when life got really tough because I know how you guys love your gossip. Sometimes I have disappointed you guys not on purpose but because sometimes we have no control in what happen to us.
Time to let go
Since I started writing articles on TVSA in February 2010, we have since built a very strong friendship and we have become a family. A family that respects each other’s opinions. We have laughed together, cried together, together told celebrities exactly where to get off and it was all in the name of fun.
Now the time has come for me to pen my very final Monday World. I have since found a new job that’s keeping me really busy and having to write something every Monday has become quite a challenge. Life is dealing me with its blows. I am this year finishing my dissertation, I have taken another step in climbing the corporate ladder, I have a freelance gig I have always had before I could write on TVSA and is also requiring a lot of my time and I need to constantly sniff around for exclusive stories for my magazine. I have since been asked to serve as a general youth secretary for Capricorn Baptist Region and meetings are the order of the day. At the same time, my daughter needs her father.
I'm too busy mina, alright!
Then again, TVSA bloggers need their Makisto. It is all just too much and I have taken the first step of cutting out some of the things I do. Believe you me, it is hard. I love Monday World, I started Monday World, I AM Monday World. Even if I have to say it myself, no Sunday paper does tabloid journalism the way we at Monday World do, no sorry, the way we did. Over the past two years, magazines, tabloids, serious reads like the Mail and Guardian, City Press, Sunday Times etc etc together with their journalists and editors, have all come under scrutiny only in Monday World and scrutinising them the only way we know how.
I shall remain eternally grateful to you guys for having allowed me to dish out Monday World without fail. More so, I have to single out Carino, Toodecent, Tazteeq and Cheesa for having helped with Monday World when I had to abandon all I was doing to pay special attention to my daughter. Your well-wishes and fasting prayers for my daughter when I was on the verge of insanity due to my daughter’s brain complications last year really made all the difference. You have each shown me love in each and every one of you special way. Thank you and thank you all. I can never thank you enough.
I'm busy, ok?!
I also have to thank TVSA editor Tashi Tagg for having given me the opportunity to run with Monday World and I have never experienced any form of censorship from her. Now, that is really commendable. She allowed me to really push the envelope in Monday World and I have never, not even once, seen a frank phrase rewritten to tone it down. In fact, I sometimes had to take the bullets from behind the scenes in the form of actors’ managers, actors themselves, their publicists, the celebs themselves, and everyone “looking out” for them but I never allowed that to stop me from having an opinion.
There has also been a very good side to blogging. I was asked by a few radio stations to open up controversial debates for their listeners because the hosts and producers were afraid to put their opinion to things and needed someone like Makisto to speak his mind without any fear or favour. I have also since written for a few local magazines after they have seen my TVSA work and they asked me to give them some of Makisto’s magic in a bid to dish out amusing content for their readers.
I will still attend parties for y'all
This isn’t goodbye, I am always with you for as long as God allows. My career is really taking major form and I really need to focus on it and give it my all. As I was busy thinking about this weekend’s gossip, I decided that no, I shall be the star of this very final edition of Monday World because as you all will agree, I am Monday World.
When I announced on Facebook and Twitter that today it is the last Monday World, a lot of you were not happy. But in all honesty, I love you guys enough to know when it is time to let go. For the past two years, I have shocked, offended, amused and told a few where to get off, spoke my mind without any fear because you know what, that is how I am. I cannot tolerate nonsense and if it means I have to stand up and speak my mind, be it in the boardroom, at a queue in Pick ‘n Pay or just simply picking up the phone and call a minister of a department to demand a service I know I am entitled to, I do it. Some of you have even called me the Kuli Roberts of TVSA and no, I am not the Kuli Roberts of TVSA, I AM Makisto of TVSA.
The good news is that as Makisto, I will still be here on TVSA blogging on a limited basis. I will still write articles to speak my mind the best way I know how. I will still be attending parties and come back to write a report back for you guys.
To many of you, we will meet each other at interviews fighting for higher positions in the corporate world.
Happier times as snapped by TVSA's Cande at 2011 Saftas
We saw that the it couple has Generations’ Senzo and Muvhango’s Pearl are breaking our hearts by parting ways. Good thing they didn’t blame each other in the Sunday World article. We are keeping our fingers crossed that you guys be able to sort out your issues as Pearl said you are taking a break from each other. So that gives us hope.
Together for almost a decade: The love that stood the test of time
Good news that renew our hope in true love is the news that superstar Thembi Seete is marrying her sweetheart of 9 years, Bobo from the former hit group Denim. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the couple will also get their R1m from the Drum magazine for publishing their wedding pictures. *hint hint, nudge nudge*
Fake allegations: TVSA bloggers saw it coming
In other news, the Sunday World alleges Sophie Ndaba’s man is a fake. My reaction, TVSA bloggers have been warning Sophie since the news of their surprise wedding broke. So, TVSA bloggers are always in the know about things and should be taken seriously.
Now, it is time for me to dodge your bullets. *runs for cover*
