Idols judges Randall Abrahams, Unathi Msengana and Gareth Cliff scoured the length and breadth of the country this year to bring the 80 most promising unsigned amateur singers to Sun City this past April, where they put them through their musical paces and selected only the 16 very best for the fans’ votes.

Unathi

South Africa voted for the first time last week which of the eight best guys to keep in the Top 10 and sadly that meant the end of the road for Philip (20) from Kempton Park, Lee-Ron (18) from Kensington in Cape Town and 16-year-old Jono from Glenwood in Durban.

carle

After a thrilling concert by the Top 8 girls this past Sunday, the fans cast their votes again and decided to send home Amy (20) from Paarl in the Western Cape, Carle (30) from Centurion in Gauteng, and Tauna (26) from Morningstar in Cape Town.

Eish guys, nna I'm disappointed that Carle did not make the top 10 yazi. She is one talented singer and seeing her go isn't great at all. She was in my imaginary top 3

I liked Carle as well but her performance this week was definitely not great. I thought Tauna stood a better chance. Still, I think the 5 girls chosen deserve their spots.
