Prison Break - Episode 2

How hectic was that last scene?

If someone held garden shears to my foot, threatening to cut off body parts , I would sing like a choir of canaries.

MICHAEL, on the other hand, has important information that he needs to use as leverage. He knows if he tells John Abruzzi where Fibonacci is, then he is useless to him and there is no way that Abruzzi will help them once they escape. IF THEY ESCAPE.

I was so beside myself with angst, I was screaming at Michael to just tell him. These guys are the MAFIA, they are renowned for cutting people into little pieces and feeding them to the fishes. I suppose they need Michael alive to get the information but what are they going to do? Cut him into little bits one piece at a time?

How exactly did Michael find himself in this situation? Let me tell you…..

Before I continue I just want to mention the terminology, or what I like to call Prison Speak. For those of us that have not seen the inside of a prison cell, some of the terms they use might be a bit unfamiliar.

I’d even go so far as to say for those of us that have not seen the inside of a prison cell in the
USA, because I seriously doubt that the inmates at POLLSMORE would speak like this. I have tried to translate the Prison Speak (PS) as best I could but if any ex-convicts out there are reading this and pick up any mistakes, please feel free to correct me.

On with the second episode then.

Michael approaches Westmoreland and hints about his big escape. He needs DB Cooper’s millions in order for his plans to escape to succeed, so he is sussing him out to see if he will admit to anything.

Westmoreland finds it amusing that after just three days Michael is already thinking about turning rabbit. ( PS for escaping)
He fills Michael in on the racial tension and wars that are going on at Fox River Pen and says it seems that the situation is about to come to blows anytime soon.

Back in their cell, Fernando is taking a leak while Michael is examining the tattoo on his arm. He is holding up a mirror to see a reverse image on it and writes down what looks to be some sort of code on a piece of paper.  SCHWEITZER ALLEN 11121147

 Tattoo

Fernando tries to flush the toilet but it wont work and he realizes that it’s a Shakedown (PS for checking the cells for drugs and other illegal items that they might have on them) They block the drains so that no-one can flush anything down, but the prisoners have come up with a nice solution. They throw everything out of their cell bars and it lands smack in the middle of the prison. This way no-one knows who it belongs to.

Which I suppose is a good solution because the wardens are happy because they’ve confiscated the drugs (sorta) and the prisoners are not caught with any more incriminating evidence.

Except for Michael off course. Fernando tells him to check under the table and Michael finds a metal shank and before he can dispose of it, Captain Bellick spots him. Just as the good Captain and his CO’s want to inspect the cell , Warden Pope comes along and correctly assumes that the shank belongs to Fernando Sucre.

Pope leads Fernando to the SHU (PS for Segregated Housing Unit and what we refer to as solitary confinement)  and tells Bellick to lay off  Michael, which obviously infuriates Bellick and immediately puts Michael on his hit list.

Michael sees Lincoln in the chapel and tells him that he plans to escape through the infirmary. AHHHH so now I know why he’s pretending to have diabetes. So that he can keep going back there check out the terrain and plot their escape.

Lincoln is skeptical about the whole plan especially about having to trust a black inmate (who is called C-Note)  to get the medication they require, which is called PUGNAc.

PUGNAc lowers your glucose level (or something) and gives the impression that you are diabetic and Michael needs this in order to fool the good doctor so that he can keep going back to the infirmary.

In the yard Michael walks around feeling the nuts (or is that bolts) underneath the bleachers. He is obviously looking for something specific and then his hand lands on a specific bolt (with the serial number 11121147)

FLASHBACK sees Michael looking over blueprints and pin pointing the aforementioned bolt. Michael then tries to remove it but is disturbed by some guy called T-Bag.

Let me take a moment here just to comment on their weird names. C-Note, T-Bag?? I thought prisoners got real butch names, like Bubba! T-Bag sounds like he can get into a lot of hot water (APOLOGIES – that was so not called for)

Back to T-Bag.

He comes sauntering across to Michael AND he comes with an attachment. His one pocket is turned inside out and there is a guy holding it. I am disturbed by this vision because clearly this is T-Bag’s bitch and very submissive to him. And his name? May Tag. (No relation to the Tagg’s with a double gg – I hope)

While Michael tries to secretly unscrew the bolt, T-Bag asks Michael if he wants protection in the upcoming war (the racial war) and if so all he has to do is hold onto his other pocket. EWWW. Michael refuses, which peeves T-Bag off and May Tag is just mad that T-Bag is so interested in Michael.

You can hear that T-Bag is a REAL redneck because he says things like: “Those Rug heads are gonna eat u up like a plate of black eyed peas”.
Michael is told to leave the bleachers as it is T-Bag's turf.

Unfortunately Michael has not retrieved his bolt….

Michael and C-Note speak about the PUGNAc and C-Note says he’s working on it. Then Michael goes back to the bleachers to retrieve his bolt but T-Bag and company once again corner him.

They had seen him talking to C-Note and they did not like it. They take the bolt away from him ( because they assume he wants to use it as a weapon).

NOW C-Note sees him talking to the rednecks and he’s not happy. Later on we see Michael slip into May Tag’s cell to see if he can find that blessed bolt. They catch him and he pretends to be interested in joining the gang. C-Note once again sees him interact with the rednecks and is extremely ticked off.

He approaches Michael with the bottle of PUGNAc and then empties it and hands Michael the empty bottle because he says that Michael “chose the wrong side”

I know that the bolt is important, but is there only ONE bolt of this kind in ALL of those bleachers? Did somebody plant it there? I’d really love to know because Michael even approached Abruzzi to help him retrieve it.

In the meantime Veronica (Who Lincoln used to call Vee!!!!) goes to see Lincoln’s public defender, Tim Giles, to see if he can help with her investigation. (She’s out to prove he was framed) Apparently there was a man who could have cleared Lincoln’s name and so Veronica wants to talk to him.. The guy’s name is Crab Simmons (again with the weird names) Giles, though, says Michael was guilty.

Later Giles brings a surveillance tape for Vee which shows Lincoln in a parking lot shooting the victim.

Lincoln surveilance tape

Vee goes to see Lincoln and she is angry with him. She tells him what she saw and he says the guy was already dead when he got there. My question is, what was he doing there with a gun anyway? Was he PLANNING to shoot him? He says not, and Vee does some more investigating.

She meets with Crab’s mom, who says Crab is dead but she later gets a call from a Leticia, who is Crab’s ex girlfriend.

She agrees to speak to Vee but only in a public place. When they meet Leticia says she is convinced that there is some conspiracy going on and that Crab did not die of a drug OD but was murdered.. She runs away before Vee can get anymore details out of her.

Bellick went sneaking around Michael’s cell and finds the SCHWEITZER ALLEN 11121147 note. He is determined to find out what it means.
Meanwhile, Fernando is still in the SHU. He tries to call his fiancé but they won’t allow him, even on her birthday. In the meantime his fiancé is out with the scheming Hector, who by the looks of it, is very well off. I don’t quite know where Hector fits into all this, but I suppose we will know soon enough.

The war finally arrives. It’s line up in the cell block and all hell breaks loose. Michael tries to stay out of it but someone throws him over the railing. Here he runs into May Tag who happens to have the bolt on him. He fights with May and manages to get the bolt away from him.

May tries to get it back but another inmate stabs May, who falls on top of Michael. T-Bag sees this and assumes that Michael has killed May. He promises Michael that he will pay for killing May.

Finally they are brought to order by the Pope and all of them are on  48hour lockdown. (PS for cannot eat, drink, shower or get any visitors for the next 48 hours)

In his cell Michael takes the bolt out and compares it to one of the tattoos on his arm. It looks like some sot of allen wrench and Michael tests it my inserting it into some bolt at the toilet. I ask again, is this THE ONLY bolt like this in the whole of Fox river Pen? Who knows….

 wrench

Abruzzi gets a few visitors, Philly Falzone being one of them. He knows that there is someone who knows where Fibonacci is and wants that info before Fibonacci testifies in court because a lot of the “mobsters” will be in hot water if he does.

Falzone threatens Abruzzi, his wife and his kids and says that they need that info - or else.
Abruzzi assures Falzone that he will get the information.

Michael is called to the infirmary to have his blood sugar levels tested and just before he goes in, C-Note hands him the much needed PUGNAc. Sara, the good, doctor, confirms that he is indeed a diabetic and gives him his insulin shot. Sighs of relief all round.

Bellick escorts Michael out of the infirmary and leaves him alone for a few seconds. On purpose methinks.
This is when it really hots up.

Abruzzi and his goons drag Michael off to a garden shed. Abruzzi wants to know where Fibonacci is but Michael’s not saying. Like I said before, Michael needs to use this information as leverage and says that he's as good as dead if he tells them.

The lesson here folks, is that if you’re going to go after the mafia, you need to have more than one piece of information that they need. There is no honor amongst them.

You know what is ironic here? When Lincoln and Michael were chatting in the chapel,
Lincoln warned him about Abruzzi, saying that Abruzzi would cut him to pieces… hmmmmmmmm

Michael is refusing to talk, so one of the goons takes off one of Mike's shoes and socks and we see some gardening shears hovering near Michael’s toes. His 2 small toes to be exact. Abruzzi says he’s going to count to three, Michael answers that he’ll tell them when they’re on the outside and no sooner.

ONE
TWO
THREE

Foot

We see the shears close and hear Michael scream
 THAT's gotta hurt!
