There is just no letting up on the suspense and intrigue, is there?

Another shady character, another innocent victim.

Someone is going to great lengths to stop the truth from coming out. The question is who? And why?

Episode 10 opens with a flashback of Michael back in the tattoo parlor. The whirring of a needle can be heard as the artist continues her masterpiece.

This time it’s playing cards that are being added.

Card tattoo

I am not a huge fan of tattoos but I will definitely be doing an in depth look at Michael’s work of art soon. I just love the way the drawings that seem so inconsequential, fit together. Plus, you all should know how over-analytical I am about things like this.

We move from the cards in the past, to cards in the present day. Abruzzi is sitting in the yard playing with a deck of cards all by himself.

He looks over to the new PI crew and spots Bellick. He walks over to him to try and talk him into giving him the PI back.

Bellick is not interested. Falzone is the guy with the money, so he remains loyal to him and he couldn’t care less about the “friendship that he and Abruzzi have built up over the years.

He says the only reason he comes to work is because of the monthly payments he gets and even when Abruzzi offers to better Falzone’s payment, Bellick knows that a bird in the hand is worth two in the proverbial bush. He point blank refuses.

Abruzzi walks over to Michael and says they need to talk.

He reckons he is no longer interested in Fibonacci but in order to get back into Falzone’s good graces, he needs to give him something good.

Michael wonders if he is not only trying to get into the Mafia’s good books again but Abruzzi assures him that he does not want back in with them.

They are hanging him out to dry and all he wants to do is escape.

The only way they can escape is if they get back into the guards break room. And the only way they can get back into the guards break room, is by way of Falzone.

And the only way Falzone is going to give Abruzzi anything, is if he gives him Fibonacci.

But Michael is still not convinced.

Michael and Lincoln talk in the chapel and Michael tells him of his dilemma.

If he gives Falzone the information he wants, he will surely track down and kill Fibonacci.

Lincoln doesn’t see the problem, as Fibonacci was Mafia too. But Michael says that Fibonacci wasn’t a bad guy at all.

He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He witnessed Abruzzi order his goons to kill 2 people and he went to the police with the information.

When the judge asked Fibonacci why he was doing this, he said that it was the right thing to do. An in exchange for his testimony, he was put into a witness relocation program, for obvious reasons.

Fibonacci & Family

So Michael did not know what to do. In order for Lincoln to live, an innocent man had to die.

Waiting somewhere in a hotel room, is Kellerman and Hale.
Kellerman is on the phone with THAT WOMAN, Madam Vice President. She tells him that she is sending a “friend” over in order to see that things are running smoothly.

Kellerman says he has everything under control and that she must not worry about “tomorrow”. (whatever that may mean)

She says she is not worried. Her friend was a problem solver, that’s all.

Hale is worried. He questions their decision of keeping the truth from THAT WOMAN and worries that they might pay for it.

He laments about the job and says he wishes he had a safe job elsewhere.

Kellerman jokingly threatens to shoot him. But I think it was more than a joke. It was more like a very subtle threat.

In the yard Sucre and Michael watch the new PIs carry in new rolls of carpeting. Sucre asks one of them when they are going to lay the carpet and he replies that it will be done either that night or the next day.

Sucre knows that if this happens they will definitely find that hole.

In Lincoln’s cell, Officer Patterson brings him a plate of food.
While he is there he slips Lincoln a slip of paper. It is a request form for Lincoln’s last meal.

Lincoln throws the piece of paper back to Patterson and Patterson tells him that if he doesn’t choose anything he will be given whatever is on the Prison menu for that day.

Lincoln shrugs his shoulders but Patterson slips the paper back to him, just in case he changes his mind.

C-Note is at the fence in the yard speaking to one-eyed Gus. C-Note wants a job in PI and Gus says that it will cost him $150 to sign up and C-Note accepts.

Michael approaches Abruzzi in the yard and says that he has been thinking about what he said and that he wants to meet with Falzone. Abruzzi reckons that Falzone doesn’t speak to people like Michael (which is what kind of people exactly???)

Michael says that if he wants Fibonacci he will have to talk to him.

Abruzzi goes to the phone booth and calls Falzone to set up the meeting for later that day. Falzone warns Abruzzi that if his trip to fox River Pen is in vain, he will castrate Abruzzi.

Next to use the phone is Michael.

NOW I see where the cards fit in. The numbers on his arm form a phone number. And a very leggy brunette answers the phone.

ONE QUESTION – if Michael is such a genius, surely he could memorize one measly phone number. I’m no Einstein and I can remember the telephone number we had when I was 6…

Back to the leggy Brunette: Michael reminds her that he said he would call her with regards to Fibonacci. He tells her “it’s time”……

In the infirmary, Dr. Sara is cleaning Michael’s foot (the one that’s missing 2 toes). He asks about the flowers in her office and she says that it’s from her dad, for her birthday.

She sounds quite bitter when she says that in her 29 years he has spent exactly 6 with her. The rest of time he sends flowers. She adds that flowers end up dead in the trash can a week later.

Back in the yard, C-note has joined PI and eagerly carries some boards into the break room for Gus.

While he is there he looks around for signs of what Michael and the boys might have been doing in there. Finally he finds the hole in the ground and gives a satisfied grin.

Kellerman and Hale hear a knock on their hotel room door.

In walks a rather dorky looking man who goes by the name of Quinn.
He says that he’s there to make sure everything is under control as the BIG EVENT draws closer.

Kellerman assures him that everything is well under control but Quinn immediately asks him about LJ and the others, letting them know he knows all about their lies.

Kellerman gets annoyed and starts pointing fingers at Quinn but Quinn is not as dorky as he looks and sounds. He grabs Kellerman by the finger and BREAKS IT (net so). Man, you can see this dude means business.

Quinn tells them that they are off the job until further notice. He says it doesn’t come from him, it doesn’t come from the White House, it comes from THE COMPANY.

As he walks out the door he tells Kellerman how to bandage his broken finger.

Veronica and Nick are going over Ecofield’s SEC Fillings and figures.

Ecofield had received about half a billion in grants for alternative fuel research. But according to the figures they had never made a profit, nothing had been patented and they never even made any fuel cell findings. So where did all that money go to?

Nick says that Ecofield was a sham, a cover company…. But for what?

Michael and Abruzzi meet Falzone in the visitation area and Falzone wants to know where Michael found Fibonacci.

At first Michael is reluctant to talk but eventually he explains how he worked out where Fibonacci was.

When someone is in the witness protection program, they are placed in the care of a local sheriff (while they are busy arranging new identities). In the county where Fibonacci was, there are 4 local sheriffs.

So Michael called all four and the one who WASN’T in his office, was the one guarding Fibonacci in a safe house somewhere.

Sheriff Names

And because the process could take weeks, the sheriff that was guarding the witness would get homesick and call home. Often.

Michael then called the phone company and ordered a duplicate phone bill. He intercepted the Sheriff’s mail, checked for incoming calls from out of town and went onto the internet and traced from where the call was coming from.

And that led him straight to Fibonacci, where he still has someone keeping a watch over him incase they should move him.

Falzone asks Michael if this is about money and Michael says he wants $200 000 because when he gets out, his prison record is not going to look good on his resume’.

Michael says it’s Quid Pro Quo – loosely translated means - An exchange of one thing for another, by mutual agreement.

Abruzzi looks upset at the fact that Michael has requested money for this information. He pulls out a picture of Veronica and tells Michael that if he doesn’t tell them where Fibonacci is they will kill Veronica.
QUID PRO QUO.

Michael eventually gives in and gives them an address in Canada (number 345 something-or-the-other street).

Michael leaves and Abruzzi and Falzone do the mafia hug thing. Falzone is impressed with Abruzzi and says he will sort out the problem with Bellick.

Somewhere in a park in the United States, the Madam Vice President is approached by Kellerman, which she does not approve of.

He berates her for bringing in Quinn and says that she woke a sleeping beast. He says no-one is safe with these guys around.

Sebastian, Veronica’s EX fiancé, is opening his apartment door when Quinn approaches him, pretending to be from the insurance company dealing with Veronica’s explosion claim.

Sebastian has not heard about the explosion and invites Quinn in so that they can talk.

Veronica is still busy on her laptop when a message beeps through. It’s from Sebastian, wanting to know if she is ok.

She replies that she is fine. He asks where she is but she tells him that she cannot say and that she has to go.

As she sends the last message we are taken back to Sebastian’s apartment, where we see him laying dead on the floor.

Sebastian

It had been Quinn who had been sending messages to Veronica. Quinn plugs some machine into Sebastian’s computer and it automatically begins to search for the location from where veronica had been transmitting.

It finally beeps and stops at an exact location. If there are really contraptions out there that can do that, then I want one.

It’s night time and Falzone and his cronies pull up in a street somewhere in suburbia Canada. The address that Michael had given them.

The camera pans from them to Fibonacci who is kissing his kids goodnight, and back to them again.

We see the mob getting out of their cars armed to the hilt with guns – and Fibonacci speaking to his wife, going through the front door.

As Falzone and his men approach the house, flood lights go on and in a matter of seconds they are surrounded by Mounties. And that’s when Falzone realizes that he has been set up.

We see Fibonacci on his front porch, reading the paper. The TOPEKA TRIBUNE.
It seems that we are still in Kansas after all, Toto.

Topeka - Kansas

Abruzzi gets a phone call in the yard, telling him about the arrests of Falzone and his cronies for international gun charges and Parole violation.

Michael is in with Sara (AGAIN) and sees that she has thrown away her father’s flowers.

She says it’s no use getting attached to things if you know it’s not going to last. Michael tries to cheer her up and while she acknowledges his efforts, she says they wont work.

After he has gone she sees an origami flower that Michael has made for her. And being made of paper, obviously this one will last.

She picks it up and smiles. (I still don’t like her)

sara & flower

Back in his cell, Michael is approached by Abruzzi, who says he has news for him. He tells Michael what happened to Falzone and company and when Michael asks him how he feels about it, Abruzzi replies: “Pretty darn good’

Apparently, this was all a set up.

Even though Falzone would be pleased that Abruzzi had managed to get Michael to talk, Falzone would also wander why Michael was talking. AND it would further Abruzzi’s favor with Falzone if he managed to save him some money too.

So all in all it was a pretty good plan.

Falzone had cleared up the Bellick mess, Falzone has been arrested and Fibonacci and his family are safe. For now anyway.

As Officer Patterson passes Lincoln’s cell, he sees a slip of paper being slipped under the door. It is Lincoln’s last meal request. And it is for Blueberry Pancakes.

Inside his cell, Lincoln is thinking back to when LJ was a little boy.

LJ wants to know why they cant have breakfast together everyday and Lincoln tells him it is not possible as he and Lisa are no longer together.

He promises to make their breakfasts special though, and he starts making a batch of blueberry pancakes.

Abruzzi goes back to the yard and claims his goons back from Gus.

Not too far away Michael is playing chess with Westmoreland when C-Note approaches them and wants to speak to Michael in private.

He dumps some grit from the hole in the break room on the table and says that he knows what is going on and wants in. Michael just walks away without saying anything.

C-Note

While on PI duty the boys finally manage to make some sort of breakthrough and Michael reckons that they should reach the pipe by Friday.

As they are busy talking. T-Bag alerts them that there is someone approaching and it is Bellick and C-Note.

C-Note says that he is on PI duty while Abruzzi says no.

C-Note walks right up to the hole and stands on top of it while staring directly at Michael.

Michael nods at Abruzzi to let him know that he should let C-Note in.

Back in the forest at their safe house, Veronica and Nick are wondering about the missing money when the news comes on. Madam vice President is on the telly, announcing her candidacy fro presidency of the United States. The TV reporter says that’s Madam Vice President has the largest campaign war chest and is therefore a favorite to win.

Nick and Veronica look at each other as they realize where the money MIGHT be going to.

And watching them from a spot in the woods is Quinn….

Quinn

Twists and turns at every corner… I have given up trying to guess what will happen next.
