Would you rather ...?
AS A KID, my mates and Iwould often play a game called “Would you rather?”. The rules are simple: a friend would pose two different, usually awful, scenarios before me.
I would then have to say if I would rather choose option (a) or go with option (b).
The trick would be to make both options so equally unappealing that whatever I chose would give her licence to go “Eeew, gross!” and giggle hysterically, as only an eight-year-old can.
The reason I bring this up is because tonight’s viewing choices bear a remarkable resemblance to this game.
Would you rather watch Deacon avoid his temptation to drink by leaving a party during The Bold and the Beautiful (SABC1, 6pm) or would you rather see Lu hurt after Vusi cancels their holiday trip in Backstage (e.tv, 6.30pm)?
And in keeping with offering horrific alternatives, would you rather watch steroid-pumped “wrestlers” smack their “opponents” over the head with a plastic chair in WWE Smackdown (e.tv 8.30pm) or would you watch the moronic Envy (M-Net, 9pm)?
When this film came out, my boyf and I were duped into renting the DVD because this idiotic movie stars (ordinarily) funny men Jack Black and Ben Stiller.
I say “duped” because instead of the expected laughs these two actors generally generate, the plot about doggy-do vaporiser, coupled with horrendous acting and incessant toilet humour, was a complete waste of time and money.
If I had to choose, I reckon tonight I would rather not watch TV.
