With only four contestants left in the competition and only three weeks to go before the winner is announced on Tuesday, 26 November, the pressure has intensified this week for the Idols SA Season 9 Top 4 Spectacular.
This week, at the Moreleta Park Church Auditorium in Pretoria, the Top 4 contestants will once again perform two songs each, with the added pressure of two duets.
Under the expert mentorship of South African superstar Zonke, Brenden is rehearsing John Legend’s latest hit “All Of Me” (which John Legend dedicated to his new wife). Continuing the romantic theme, he'll also be singing the Bob Marley classic “Could You Be Loved”.
Musa is going to perform India.Arie’s “Thy Will Be Done” and another Bob Marley classic “Redemption Song”.
Sonke chose a Céline Dion song, “Loved Me Back To Life” - which is sure to be controversial with the Idols judges - as well as Donny Hathaway’s cover of the great American classic, “A Song For You”.
And the only woman left in the competition, Zoë, is right up to date with the Miley Cyrus mega-hit “Wrecking Ball” and her second Michael Jackson hit in the competition “Rock With You”, from his 1979 Off The Wall album.
Zoë and Sonke are teaming up to duet on the ballad “When I First Saw You”, from the musical “Dreamgirls”, as sung by Jamie Foxx and Beyoncé in the movie version.
Musa and Brenden are covering R. Kelly and Usher’s “Same Girl” in their duet.
