Crystalene says goodbye

Durban school teacher Crystalene Nair became the fifth Top 10 contestant to bid Idols SA Season 9 farewell when she was eliminated from the competition last night.

The Top 6 performed their hearts out in Sunday evening’s “Showstopper” Spectacular and Crystalene sang Rihanna’s “Right Now”, but Idols judge Randall Abrahams said her original audition in Durban didn’t move him, and neither did Sunday evening’s performance.

The indicator of the Friday evening live audience reaction at the Moreleta Park Church Auditorium in Pretoria, the Strepsils Scream O’Meter, had Soweto’s Sonke at the top of the chart this week with the loudest screams recorded so far this season.

19-year-old Capetonian Zoe was second, followed by Musa - an achievement made even more impressive by the fact that Musa underwent surgery for kidney stones before his performance on Friday!

When it came down to the voting results, Brenden found himself in the Bottom 3 for the first time, joined by Bunny and Crystalene.

Danny K, who has been an Idols guest judge, a mentor and a guest performer, performed his latest hit, “Brown Eyes” accompanied by Kwaito star Brickz live at the Moreleta Auditorium - he told ProVerb he wished Idols was around when he was trying to break into the music business.

Now there are five contestants left in the competition and this Friday (1 November) they will each perform two songs in the Top 5 Spectacular at the Moreleta Park Church Auditorium in Pretoria, choosing hits from the Nineties and the Naughties.

May I ask why Maki? Why did it please u that he was in the bottom three? He did NOT have a great night or song which I believe is his fault because he chose it. I do NOT think he's such a bad singer though that he deserves the bottom three. At this point anyone can and might find themselves in the bottom, including Sonke (hopefully not) then what do we do? For me it's between those two boys....still!!

Brenden he is not good in singing African songs, thts the only disadvantage abt him, otherwise he can be on top 3, Him, Zoe and Sonke,

I wanted Brenden to be in the bottom 3 (not leave the show yet) based on perfromance, he was one of the weakest links and it makes sense for him to be there. Also maybe it will assist him to put more effort and be more versatile, If he can come back stronger next week, big up to him!!

Ai! Ai! Ai! It was about time Crystalene left. Hayi, hayi.. she was so out of place especially this past week...looking very awkward trying to do those sexy moves. cringe, cringe, cringe!

Zoe looks and sounds more cape flats everyday... She really needs to take it easy on the screaming and violent moves. Ai!

Sonke is in a very good position to win this..mara im still #TeamMusa till the last day.

What I like is that Sonke is an underdog and that suits us fine as his fans,, because is not a popularity contest, the votes count and we vote like crazy. If Brenden's popularity translated into votes then he wouldn't have been in the bottom 3. #TeamSonke

Bunny will never make the cut...Top 3 for as long as she continues to choose the songs she does. Its been acknowledged that she has a great voice...but its difficult to relate to her song choices.

Last night i was feeling so sorry for Brenden, he was literally shaking on that red chair alone after he took the fall. Who would have thought (much necessarily though to shake him up)

I could see Musa and Sonke we both shocked they outdid him...Zoe even dopped a tear after Pro announced she was safe. It was all too much to swallow for the three contestants who rightfully deserved the top 3 spots after last Sunday's performances.

Crystalene was very bold in accepting her elimination clearly she underestimated herself against the remaining giants left and felt she deserved the elimination.

Looking forward to who will impress this week. Thank God all my 500 votes resulted in Sonke's glory.

I think its too early to write-off Ben 10 and i believe he will fight to make it to the Top 3 along with Musa and Sonke. Between the 3 of them anyone can walk away with the title thus far!

DeeNeo his first deput when he sang 'Stay' by rihanna was also great and thats where he made a volume of fans.

I will also strictly be voting Sonke alone from now on. I have no issues with Zoe and Bunny but i dont see them in the top 3 in my opinion.

I really hope Musa goes home soon because he's the most boring one there. He doesn't come across as a star and needs to show his personality more.

I am from witbank and Musa is my homeboy and he used to come to our church but Sowetan Sonke stole my heart, he is so talented his voice is so beautiful #team Sonke

I am a big Bunny and Ben Ten fan. But i must say that they really need to up their game, especially Bunny. Its not the first time that she is in the bottom 3. I think that it was good for Ben ten to land up in the bottom 3, so that he can learn that his sex appeal and looks wont get him votes, but its his singing and performance. I like Musa, but he is not a pop idol material, he's more of a soul singer. My top 3 is: Ben ten, Bunny, and Sonke. Zoe should go back to the cape flats to perfect her english and also to get rid of that ghetto accent.

Oh one more thing. Zoe reminds me also of the young V-Mash. I think that she might become like the current Vinoliah Mashego if she wins the idols. She is just too young to handle fame.
