Gugu pops the question (eventually!)

Cool news! ... the slowest brother in Africa Gugu Zulu decided to speed things up this past weekend when he ripped out a ring for his first lady Letshego Moshoeu.

Yip! Blogzilla's eventually popped the marriage proposal we've been waiting for for years.

As you may know, Gugu and Letshego have been dating for almost 12 years. Each time I've spotted them I've been convinced that they must have gotten secretly engaged or married but they never have - they're always too busy training for the next crazy race they've entered.

Gugu proposed as Letshego pulled into the finish line of the Cape Epic - as she dashed round the corner towards the end, he was waiting, surprise in hand, the question poised. Letshego responded with a wild "YES!" of course and then had to organise her ring.

It's a tanzanite ring - that's too big for her. With all the cycling and running she's been doing her fingers are so skinny the ring has to be made smaller. It should take two weeks or so apparently. In the meantime they'll be running the Two Oceans on Saturday.

As for the actual wedding ... I'm hoping they don't take 12 years to set a date for it too - will keep you posted.

Congratulations to the couple....they seemed happier in their 12 year relationship than most married couples... I guess it worked for them..

Wow that's a long time, hope their relationship will not be jinxed by the marriage.

Vesa and ms.tebby, the article said "her fingers became too skinny because of the training she has been doing" unless I don' t know how to read again.

You are so right Posh, they seemed happier in their 12 years unmarried than most married people. @Vesa...eish nna I think that proposal was fitting of who they are, at a sporting/adventure event, it was for their sporting audience and friends, not for the general sabc 1 public. As an engineer, I'd quite like a proposal at a plant lol, in my ppe covered in slurry and all ;D
