I was really looking forward to this interview and had prepared mountains of questions for Tamara but I have to say this has to be one of the hardest interviews I have done. Tamara was very tired and just walked out of an emotionally grueling meeting with the psychologist.
She was not willing to discuss her situation with her sister but however advised that she would mend things as soon as her sister comes out the show.
Segs: How are you feeling today?
Tamara: Fine. (
smiles)
Segs: Why did you go on the show? What appealed to you about the Big Brother show?
Tamara: Well, it was the experience, the exposure and the money (
giggles)
Segs: Did you watch previous shows?
Tamara: I did. Not all of them, not all the time, I think I watched about 3 or 4.
Segs: What shocked you during the first week?
Tamara: huumm… nothing really. Just how crazy people were in the house. It was just crazy people and a lot of different people too.
Segs: What don’t we know about you – something you hid from the viewers?
Tamara: I don’t know.. But I guess the viewers saw that I was little bit aggressive and maybe the soft side, like I cried too. People may have thought that I was this strong girl that did not cry. Nothing really, man. Nothing really.
Segs: What did you learn about yourself?
Tamara: Nothing really, uuhhhm… I just learnt that I can tolerate a lot of things. That’s maybe the only thing.
Segs: Do you live alone or with other people?
Tamara: I live with my sister. But there are family and relatives that come visit sometimes. Some stay a long time like 6 months, 7 months. I have a soft spot for my relatives. Those were a bunch of people that I didn’t know and
Segs: You spoke a lot about witchcraft and those things…
Tamara: (
laughs) those things are real, man. Those things are real. The housemates wanted to know so I told them stories that I had been told by other people except for one story, that was a real story, it happened to me.
Segs: which one?
Tamara: No, it’s too long to tell. But it happened to me, so those things are real. But most of the stories were just stories I was told by other people.
Segs: Your relationship with your sister, was it hard hearing the things she said about your relationship with her?
Tamara: yah, we are sisters and we can’t change that. I will wait for her to come back so we can fix things. That’s all I wanna say about that and about my sister.
Segs: Her move to upville, you said that you did not want a cent of the money if she wins, obviously this was during an emotional time.
Tamara: She is my sister and I want her to win. If she wins I will be very happy and we will share the money. But I don’t want to discuss my sister.
Segs: Seydou, you had problems with him?
Tamara: I didn’t really have problems with him. He said something that I did not like and I felt he did not have a right to say what he did. So there was no beef.
Segs: Have you worked things out?
Tamara: yah, I spent time with him last night and we chatted. He is a cool guy, he really loves my sister so I am ok.
Segs: Who were you going to nominate if you had stayed?
Tamara: The people that I don’t know, the people in Upbille .. It would be hard to nominate people that I had spent so much time with and consider them friends so, I was going to nominate the people I find in Upville.
Segs: Not Janetta? She contributed to a lot of your arguments?
Tamara: No. not Janetta.
Segs: Who are you certain you will keep in touch with?
Tamara: Everyone but maybe not Mildred, we just did not connect.
Segs: You don’t think this was because of Janetta? Because she shared information between the two groups.
Tamara: No. She just did not like me and from day 1, we just did not connect. You know, sometimes you can’t force a connection and we did not connect.
Segs: Where to from here? What are future plans for Tamara?
Tamara: my music, I was working on a n album. I have 5 songs now but I will go back to the studio to finish my album. I am new in the business, wo we’ll see.
Segs: Do you have any beef with Mampi.
Tamara: No (
laughs) I love Mampi’s songs and I dance to it. I danced to her song on stage yesterday.
We wish the Zambian sister a bright future, and all the best with her relationship with her sister.
