Dear Friends
SO, IT IS BACK TO BOOKS...FOR A WHILE
This is the last Kay Gayle Trivia Blog or a while. A big project has fallen, quite literally, into my lap and it (sorting through a large private library) will take up all my time for the foreseeable future. For oulaas, a few recommendations to remember me by :
TWO ACTORS IIN FIINE FORM-WATTS AND PENN
A smoking mirror spy saga; a movie starring Naomi Watts and Sean Penn, Fair Game [M-Net.Thursday.09.30 and Monday.03.00]
AND AGAIN...GOSLING AND WILLIAMS
A film dealing with love and emotion, with superb performances from Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling, Blue Valentine [M-Net.Friday.22.30 and Wednesday 00.00]
GREG KINNEAR AS ROBERT KEANS
The ‘little guy’ is not always likeable; Greg Kinnear proves this when as he takes on The Ford Motor Company, playing Robert Keans, the man who in a Flash of Genius [SABC3.Saturday.19.30] invented The Intermittent Windscreen Wiper. One of those simple ‘why didn’t I think of that’ ideas.
CARICE VAN HOUTEN AS...
South African poet Ingrid Jonker is the subject of Black Butterflies [SABC3.Wednesday.20.00], directed by Paula van der Oest; starring Carice van Houten as Jonker.
POET INGRID JONKER. NOTE THE BEACH BACKGROUND
This is a Dutch film and tells the heartbreaking story of one of the greatest poets this country has ever produced.
AU REVOIR
Also as you know, many of the films shown on TV are around more than once or twice, so look them up by typing in kaygayle and the name of the movie.
Lastly, thanks so much for all the support and fun over the last three years; and a special thanks from me to the marvelous people who make TVSA such an exciting site. I could be back in time for the 2012 Oscars; so like Mary Poppins, I’ll say not goodbye but au revoir.
Cheers,
K
