Oscar Predictions

I have been a mobile germ factory for the past few weeks; but what the hell; let us see what my fevered brain can come up with.

WHEN THE MAGIC HAPPENS; IT HAPPENS

Somehow, nostalgia feels right, so The Artist as best movie....

A HAPPY MAN

and going with film/director link, Michel Hazanavicius as best director.

Next, Big mistake by me

FIRST FRENCH WINNER-I THINK SO

A ROLE INSPIRED BY JOHN GILBERT-HERE WITH GARBO

POOR GEORGE- A FRONT RUNNER AT ONE STAGE

George Clooney gets my nod for The Descendants

WHAT WILLIAMS GETS SO RIGHT IS MONROE'S TRAGEDY

and although Marilyn Monroe was ignored in real life, Michelle Williams is my slightly off the wall favourite for My Week With Marilyn. Afterall, it is the 50th year since Monroe's death, August 1962 .

ALMOST EERIE, ISN'T IT?

Also, two British historical figures in two years, think not. Wrong again- but why not ...

THEN...

THEN

...OR ESPECIALLY THEN

THE OFTEN INVISIBLE HELP

Octavia Spencer in The Help is just so fine, in spite of split vote, with Jessica Chastain. Hell, they all could have won.

It took nearly 50 years for THIS to evolve into...

THIS. WELL DONE

All the male supports are (very) good; I just want Mr Plummer to win so much.

COME BLOW YOUR HORN

Last shout for Woody Allen for Best Original Screenplay.

Well, I could be way off, blame it ,in that case, on the medication.

SHE LOOKS AS SUPRISED AS WE WERE-FUNNY SPEECH THOUGH!

If I'm not too feeble tomorrow, I'll do a follow up. Either way, enjoy the buzz.

FRANK-THESE CLAWS LOOK SHARP BECAUSE THEY ARE!

Hopefully, back to basics this coming week. In the meantime, I'm back to bed, armed  with my Robert Goddard novel, a hot drink and Frank, the fairly faithful feline.

Well, well, well... I wasn't as wrong as another critic, who shall remain nameless. Meryl Streep left in the dust....not this time. It makes sense, if Williams won, only the MM people would be really happy (like me.)and everybody else cross because Davis didn't. Give it to Meryl and nary a feather is ruffled.

From the start, The Artist was like a runaway train, unstoppable.

So, so glad for Chris, Spencer and Woody Allen, who I'm sure was playing his clarinet in a bathroom...somewhere. Till later. K.

Still in Oscar mode, last chance (for now) to see Colin Firth as George VI- The King's Speech at 09.30 on M-Net. A movie in a class of its own. Till Later. K.
