e.News is looking for a General Manager for their Online News Division in their Johannesburg Newsroom.
Who are they looking for?
>> A senior figure in the digital landscape to help pioneer eNews’ new online strategy.
>> An entrepreneurial and driven head to help establish, and then manage, a new online department for the broader company.
This is a senior position, reporting to the Group Head of News. The individual will be the head of the online division for the eNews online division and will form a key part of the company's senior management team and general online strategy.
The person will be responsible for setting the department up and then managing it. This is a commercial position - an understanding of media revenue streams and online advertising would be critical.
The duties of the GM:
- Form strategies to grow market share in both users and revenue for the online division.
- Be the face and champion of the online division internally and externally to the industry.
- Manage online staff.
- Oversee the development of the online business ahead of launch.
- Ensure the online division innovates and keeps abreast of the latest online trends.
- Identify and manage relationships with content suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Create and form strategic alliances with other players in the industry.
- Work closely with the television news division of the company.
- Seek synergies between online and television.
The required skillset of the GM includes:
- 10 years management experience in a DIGITAL environment, preferably online media.
- Ability to budget and forecast.
- Understanding of the online editorial and online sales environment.
- Knowledge of social media trends.
- Knowledge of the online agencies.
- Strategic approach to business.
Diploma/Degree required, a post graduate Business Management qualification would be an advantage.
