Regular readers of TVSA may have noticed the new "TV Times" link in the main site menu (it's purple - how did you miss it?), which, as you can guess, contains links to..... uh ..... TV times.
This is the result of a new partnership between TVSA and paycaster TopTV, who is now providing us with programme listings for all of its channels, as well as all the free-to-air channels.
We recently issued a press release about it - to avoid rewriting it, here it is in all its press-releasey glory:
New pay-TV broadcaster TopTV has joined forces with South Africa's premier television website TVSA to make programme viewing schedules available for all channels across its four bouquets, as well as the schedules for the free-to-air broadcasters, SABC and e.tv.
The country's newest pay-TV broadcaster has begun supplying TVSA with exhaustive TV listings data, which in the case of certain channels extends up to three months in advance.
All of TopTV's channels are included in the schedules, including the various Fox channels, the flagship "Top" channels (Top One, Top Movies 1, 2 and 24, Top Junior, Top History, Top Crime, Top Gospel and Top Explore), the increasingly popular BET channel and all movie and sport channels.
With an easy-to-use interface, readers can select a channel of their choice and the date they want programme info on. Daily schedules come with the time programmes air, their genre and an episode teaser where available, which contains episode-specific information (particularly in the case of serialised shows).
The TV schedules add great value to TVSA's current offering, which includes daily blogging about television shows and the industry, detailed show mini-sites and actor profiles, a wide variety of interaction platforms, weekly TAMS ratings, news, reviews and a constant stream of programme information for all major channels across all broadcast platforms.
Since TopTV debuted on 1 May this year, the broadcaster has steadily gained traction courtesy of its varied content and competitive pricing structures.
Major international affiliations have seen the broadcaster grow its stable of current, relevant shows, to the point of premiering Frank Darabont's highly-anticipated zombie drama "The Walking Dead" on 2 November, just two days after it begins on cable channel AMC in the United States.
The free-to-air channels (SABC1, SABC2, SABC3 and e.tv) are also available on the TopTV platform and their programme broadcast details are included in the new TVSA schedules.
