hey guys,

I know have to be patriotic and all that jazz but can we just be honest. Last night's concert was a total bore. I am a huge fan of Lira but poor thing was not on par last night. Her voice just didnt sound great.

The entire event was luke warm for me. For a moment I wished Lebo Mathosa was still alive and someone like Brenda would have added some vavavoom on the event.

I can not stand the WAKA WAKA song. It lacks creativity and it's way too cliched, as much as I am sick of JR's song I think it resonates well with the WC mood than this wakakaka nonsense.

Love Alicia's performance but was disappointed at hiow she massacred Brenda's song. Thank God Yvonne was there but Angelique Kidjo is another vartist who is overrated and needs to take a break from every "african" concert there is under the sun

I hate Chomee but I honestly think someone with her energy would have been a great addition to the line up. Will Vusi Mahlasela ever sing any other song than that old song? does he even have any other songs?

Kelly Rowland just needs to relax!! Love her but she just aint cutting it!

All in all I am so glad I didnt waste my R400 to go watch the concert, then again sometimes you get more fan with your friends at the concert than from whats happening on stage.

Blaq so was Fergie's voice. Not on par at all.

In fact the Black eyed peas were a total bore for me. Tehy were screaming and not singing.

I was not feeling it. The blind couple was just nje. I couldnt even hear them.

I think they were cold those people hence the voices.

Sego- I'm also leaving here at 5pm. *sigh*. I was planning on fainting at 1h30.

I switched to that etv movie last night instead. I didnt even enjoy it with a sick (fever) husband wanting attention lol.

Otherwise- I just couldnt stand the shouting.

Is it just me or is the president JZ attending every opening there is. Wherever there is fun he is there. *wonder if he ever gets any work done*

Latest ball psoition stats: Bafana - 39 percent, Mexico - 61 percent but Bafana looking stronger And stronger - think they were very overwhelmed with emotion at the start - Too many close calls from Mexico-all have been well saved tho'

Tashi

Hello everyone,

@TDC, thanks for the snack & drink. You are such a gentleman.

I didnt enjoy the opening. If TDC was not there i would have left in 10min. We didn't have chairs & the grass was wet plus their volume sucked big time. I couldnt hear anything.

But they played nice shame & thanks to Khune. He was on fire & besingaboni kahle bcoz abanye abantu bebemile mfiiimmmm

Next time i will be watching home on my fong kong tv

tizoz
14 Jun 2010 10:24

Dont worry Myname it was pathetic watching it on telly... I have neva seen such chaos in my life.... at the beginning all one could hear were vuvuzalas and no audio from the opening sequence and the poor Zolani Mkiva or sumthing like dat....

Then there were hordes and hordes of people that walked up and down the stadium and nothing came out of it... the only 3 formations I can say were okay was the beetle rolling Jabu and the world map and the logo at the end.... besides that it was a total waste of time.....

Lebo M and Somizi should seriously be held accountable for that boring opening ceremony..... Hope they didnt pocket millions and millions...

A fyne example was the closing ceremony of the UEFA CL.... the spanish gave the best 7 minutes of specatcular showcase that left one with goosebumps.... 7 minutes! compare it to just over half hour of nothing....

14 Jun 2010 11:06

OMW I'm sorry but the opening was so not great. Somizi and Lebo should be ashamed.

Anyways Centurion was FULL to much people left at half time. Watched the rest at cofi then was off to hatfield to the tourists

alishya
15 Jun 2010 17:26

I agree. It was the worst opening ceremony of any event EVER! The games have been great though. Viva SA football fans.

15 Jun 2010 18:35

FK
16 Jun 2010 07:59

For me, it was better than the concert
I watched the opening ceremony from my telly and I saw and heard the following people

Thandiswa
Tkzee singing in the 18 area
Khaled singing Didi Didi
Hugh Masekela
HHP
Femi Kuti
R Kelly

I know Im missing other artists - and the dung beetle and the dancers revealing FIFA logo using their outfits.  I loved it.
