I was browsing the Sowetan website yesterday and found the below list. I was amazed at how little I knew about Black actors/sctresses that had won the Oscars. I always thought that Sidney Poitier was the first black winner...

The Academy Awards (popularly known as the Oscars) are accolades presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to recognize excellence of professionals in the film industry, including directors, actors, and writers. Only 12 Black actors/actresses have managed to get this prestigious award. We have compiled pictures and videos of their memorable acceptance speeches.

I think the sad thing is that I know about them all.

Hopefully we can get to a time where the answer to this question or any other one like it will be "How the hell should I know? There are so many."

Kaloku guys u know before or let me say some years ago blacks were treated like dumb ppl who cant excel with anything. They thought we were gud at doing gardens or being nannies. If u ever read "The Madonna of Excelsor by Zakes Mda u will know what i mean so ndicinga ukuba iselibhongo neqhayiya 2 some ppl.
