It would have been understandable if he did say it to her face and had to answer back. Gareth Cliff is a disgrace in society, l bet he is still practising apartheid and racism. He might be white and not knowing about our cultures but l am sure the whites also do respect the dead and not speak ill about them..Nxaaaaaa

In the past I think Gareth has successfully used controversy to push his agenda but now He's gone too far! @Big Mama it ...her face and had to answer back exactly talk about being a coward... We really need to learn the responsibility that comes with Freedom of speech actually Freedom of anything...gosh these public figures are seriously going kiki…

@Tholi thanks for the link pal….someday someday mark my words this whole Manto, Mbekhi ARV"s story will come out in the open fully...some people will have to swallow their words...surely people should know by now how media can sensational any story, how at times they pick just 1, 1 statement from 2 hour speech & stretch, exaggerate & sensational. I’m mean even as a blogger surely most of us have experienced that when someone totally misreads your statement and writes a whole 3 paragraphs that’s so off the mark and as a result few gets so excited… and you wonder!!! Just mark my words.

Yah ne this country still has a long way to go. What is wrong with expressing an opinion , does one have to be black to do that? Why must everything be turned to race.

Alot of black people have expressed even worse centiments regarding this woman's death. Society is judging her according to her actions. +-300 000 people died. They had families, friends and children, just because they were nameless and faceless to her and her executives does not make their deaths any less painfull.

@Goldii- Yes sadly people died and I'm not commending that on the other side someone could turn around & say why weren’t those people having safe sex in the first place or in cases of rape what where they wherever it happened at that particular time and we could go around in circles. Manto failed in office dismally but but that does not mean we must disregard her death like that, dehumanize her… like it’s a death of some animal. Opinions are good, freedom of expression is good , but what separate the fools from the bunch is those who abuse that right and I'm sorry but Gareth is an abuser He so abused the right to freedom of speech!

If only he said this while she was alive l wouldn't be having any problems. Julius Malema told Naledi PAndor that she has a fake accent, can you imagine if he said that when she is dead...

In what way? Constitutionally or in your opinion? Not that I defend this idiot Gareth. MsDee, go to the humans right commission and lay a complaint just like Panyaza did against Terreblanche. It does not help venting on this site without taking any action. Try it and maybe this Gareth will be forced to retract the statement.

Im taking my hat off 4 u BM.

The nation lost someone who was a mother, sister, aunt, grandma etc. All we can do now is to show some respect. We lost a human being not a dog. Why are we acting like this? Where is sympathy? Who are we to judge? Put yourself in her relative’s shoes? What will you say if you were related to this woman? Would you say the things you say?

No one deserves this. We all make mistakes & no one is perfect. I am so sick of hearing the bad & negative comments about this lady. Let me remind you maybe you forget that someone died not a cockroach. Someone out there is mourning because she/he will never see this woman again. She is gone & you will never get your answers from her.

@Goldii.......l understand what you are saying, but not all of us are perfect at what we do. Some we do what we do for money or because it is a calling or something that we all love.
She made her mistakes, we should have shouted at her while she was able to shout back or humble herself and say l am sorry.

If Manto was Gareth's mother, and l said that when she is unable to answer for herself and not even before 24hours of him loosing her , how will it feel like. The things we say do not hurt the dead but those who a still alive.
