Cartoons

We all watched them at some point in life
Some of us are still watching them even now

I am a sucker for cartoons
I even go to cinema to watch them

Arthur

I say HEY! (HEY!)
What a wonderful kind of day.
If you can learn to work and play
And get along with each other

When I was young I used to love Arthur (and his sister DW) , Pepper Anne (and the theme songs)

Pepper Ann, Pepper Ann,
Marchin' in her own parade.
Pepper Ann, she's like one in a million!

On SABC 2 there was Afrikaans cartoons with characters known as Victor and Hugo…I also loved, even though i understood like 40 to 50 % of what they said

But I must say my all time favourite is SpongeBob squarepants….the yellow little man with a good heart.
I just adore him and his underwater town of bikini bottom!…..he is such a sweetie

Pirate: Ohh.... who lives in a pineapple under the sea?
Kids: SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!
Pirate: Absorbent and yellow and porous is he!
Kids: SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!

The Simpsons were poplar at some point (I also practices and mastered drawing them with their funny hairstyles)

And then we have the Disney characters and Looney tunes, all of them from the popular as Donald duck to the not so popular as Pocahontas.

So mabloggas did you watch cartoons?
Are you still watching them?
Which one is/was your favourite?
Is it good that kids must watch them?
Other than for entertainment reasons, did you learn anything?
Is there an educational element in them?

LOL Blueroze, I forgot them but there was this one with dogs who have black & white dots.....i used to luv that cartooon. I 4got the name.

I only went once with my son last year iyhooooo i was snoring babes & yena he was laughing all the way.

i loove cartoons, i used to watch them all the time growing, i still watching them, but todays cartoons aren't like "our" cartoons.

my favourite was Tamon (from Tamon and bumba) i also looove spongebob, but his best friend (can't remember the name now, is it patrick?) he cracks me up

also love goof troops

"like father like son.hey! they're always number one they're buddies they're pals...." lol how i remember that song

i love the fact that i loose myself in the moment and totally believe what i see eg when the tail gets cut off and later grow back...

My all time favourite cartoons have to be Tom and Jerry they seriously crack me up.

Also love, love , Ice Age, Dragon Balz,Beauty and the Beast, Animax, Liewe Hexie, Lion King to name a few.

I still watch cartoons even now

when i was young i used to watch, Little Mermaid, Rescue Rangers, Poppey, Recess, Goof Troops and Timon and Bumba *smile*

Now i watch The Flingstones, Stupid dog, Edd Ed and Eddy

My 4 yr old son loves Ben 10. I never had a chance to watch these when I was young. We didn't own a tv at my house but I don’t think I’ve missed a lot because I hate watching Ben with his silly watch and the aliens.

When I tell him to go watch his popayes he’ll shout cartoons mommy, cartoons… But that’s how we used to call them..

i used to love watching amapopayi...i even drew them and damnit i was good...abo pepper anne, recess, sonic, smuffs etc...mara manje yesses anginaskhathi nje samapopayi ngingamane ngibukele i 50/50.....

i would never ever go to a cinema for ama popayi...even if they do porn i still would not go watch them

My son is a real Ben 10 groupie. He’s got a Ben 10 collection, the double DVD with all the episodes, THE WATCH (but he got pissed off when he realised it can’t change him into an elien), clothing and bags. He can squeeze all these from his Daddy but try and ask the Daddy for something essential like a new Guess/Polo handbag and you’ll think you’ve asked him to buy you a private jet.

blueroze, BT that's a good one. But mine will ask what BT is... He used to be crazy with Spiderman and now he does'nt want anything to do with it. He told his Daddy to take back all the Spiderman material to the shop in exchange for BT stuff.

Eish guys don't get me started with Ben 10. My child is going gaga over him. He hasn't even watched one episode......... Peer pressure at 3 years old.

Spongebob is my sweetheart, I used to watch religiously when I was in high school.
PepperAnn was also a favourite, SHE -RA and HE-MAN..............

Me three Nonny........Back @ Home we used to fight over the remote,Me& my sister and my lil niece ,imagine....i want to watch rhythm city,Generations,Muvhango you see, all these shows that are making sense.....Bona they want to switch to Cartoon Network.........and they never stop watching because it's cartoon after another cartoon.........Haibo i hope that channel is no longer there i never get peacefull holidays.......And there was this friend of mine in high school,he used to bunk school for weeks and the other day our teacher asked us to go to his place to find out what's the matter,only to find out the nigga is bunking school for popeye.........and the funny part is that even today we still call him popeye.

pepper anna, RECESS, doug, SONIC the hedgehog (its playn on etv..and it looks a it strange...like the quality's gone poor..but i know its becuase things are better now)..........chip chip chip chip and dale....doug win doug "lets get dangerous".....hercules and aladin......(the noodle dance cartoons).....of course looney tunes(i got lots of them now for blue days) nd timon and pumba (has anyone watchd the lion king 1 and half....timon and pumba's version of lion king one.......it is delirioulsy hilarious).......crokerdoo unlimited.....the cowboy cartoons that played concurrently le go go power rangers.......pro stars-pro stars......pelezino (barely remember them)...delfy (used to play in sotho...that was cool)....Archie 's weird mysteries....etcetera!
..kids this days are missing out....

and then cartoons evolved:
...pokemon....dragon ball zee (anybody seen the movie?)....and all this other japanes staff....i couldnt keep up....

Currently:
Adventures of superman(every sarterday @ 10:30 am)....fantastic four...justice league....and transformers...i have developed a love for comics....cannot wait for Transformers: revenge of the fallen 24 june yyeay!...

and ben 10....i think its got the coolest song ever!

I Love Cartoons also ... But not the stupid ones with violence!

There are some really awesome ones with tons of wit woven into them,

Lots of children material with a sprinkling of adult nonmeclature to get the child's brain working.

I let my children watch those. Especialy Animaniacs, most and pixar stuff

I go to the cinema for cartoons ... even without the children.
