isn't he the guy who fell off the chair......yes its him...if i was him,i'd request a chair that has been tested by the SABS next time i go for an interview.....i like the face of the new cabinet, but dissappointed by two appointments.....as a scientist i hope Naledi will do wonders in that ministry and not do what she did in education.....as for Tokyo....its on record that RDP programme fell apart when he was the premier of Gauteng......he has shares in construction companies....hope he will declare all information wrt to his business....we're tired of corruption

A Settlement is a "Place where people have come to live and have built homes."  If the Ministry of Human Settlement is based on the proper meaning of Settlement as I have explained above and seeks only to improve lives and living conditions in places where people have come to live and builds them decent human-being homes with proper sanitation then I simply love it!  South Africans do not deserve to live in match boxes.  That's not exactly what we had in mind when we voted.  Bandile Ndzishe

Is this formerly known as the intelligence ministry or is it the one the late Ivy was in charge of?

I really feel for Nkosazan Dlamini Zuma for the mess that was left for her at the Home Affairs! But I know she's good she will sort things out for us!

And I'm trully happpy that Trevor Manuel is still in the Presidency and has been given a highest position!

I heard that Baleka is paid R1.8 million a year to step down from her position as Deputy President and she still holds the position as Chairperson! Any insiders with info???

Isn't the cabinet a bit too big people.I believe splitting up education was a great idea, even promoting the dude from sars was a cool idea. But there are too many portfolios which actually used to be departments in certain ministrie and could have continued as departments.i forsee too muc redtape.
It feels like Jiggaman needed to make sure all his people get a piece of the pie ( as pay back for their suport). As for sphiwe Nyanda hearding up communications, this does not bode well. Sphiwe's background is militatry and not necessarily ICT . I hope he is not going to be another Ivy in the making.

not necessarily, but it does mean more ministers (and deputies) that we have to pay. Only time will tell if this was truely necessary or would the cabinet be need to be scaled down again, just like what happened in 1999,will wait and c

Minister of Health Dr Aaron Motsoaledi.
For the first time in more than a decade they have decided to give this portfolio to a man. Let us wait and see what a man can do. The women have been disastrous running this department. No offence to women in particular.

Good another Dr gets the post for Health, we are sick(pun unintended) and tired of ministers who run departments when they have close to no experience.
Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Jeff Radebe
At last, he is rewarded for regularly being JZ's spin docter and loyalist.
Minister of Energy Dipuo Peters.
I hope she knows something about Energy because we donot need any more blackouts and Eskom crisises what with 2010 coming up!
Its amazing how mininsters are easily shuffled in the cabinet, people with no experience in a portfolios are awarded posts leading them to learn on the job ultimately making disastrous decisions with the lives of South Africans...

i was watching Barack Obama on tv(and i know u'll say i shouldn't compare blah blah) addressing a group of people and he said something very profounda and we can learn from that even us bloggers who can very emotional at times.

he said that not having the media is not an option for the democracy of USA, the media helps them to be transparent as a government, and keeps them on their toes, and that they should keep on writing what they write, he might not like some of the things they write but it's good for the democracy of America.

Obama knows this because he's not a comrade but an educated man, he knows how the media works unlike some other people who are always suing the media for doing their work.

There's nothing wrong with Zille's choices, she chooses people according to their work not because they are comrades! Why are some people referred to as comrades at this time?

I wish the government would stop forcing private companies to have a certain number of black people, women etc as they themselves are not following the same.

Lastly why are people still wasting their time by going to school because it has been proven in SA that you only need certain qualities not qualification to do a job. I wonder how many of you would agree to be operated on by the doctor who doesn't have qualifications but qualities of being a doctor.

one and only - how i love thee

extracts of Obama's 100 days in office speech

Former Vice President Dick Cheney couldn't make the dinner, Obama joked, because he was writing his memoir, 'How to shoot friends and interrogate people.'

It was a reference to Cheney's support of harsh interrogation and his accidental shooting of a hunting companion.

The president directly addressed Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, who was in the audience.

'Michael for the last time, the Republican Party does not qualify for a bailout. Rush Limbaugh does not count as a troubled asset, I'm sorry,' said Obama, referring to recent economic steps of the White House and the conservative radio commentator's public criticism of the Republican party leader.

But Obama targeted his own miscues as well.
'No president in history has ever named three commerce secretaries this quickly"

Obama noted that he and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton had been political rivals, but he assured the audience 'these days, we could not be closer.'
'In fact the second she got back from Mexico, she pulled me into a hug,' the president said, playing off the threat of a spreading swine flu virus that has targeted Mexico

Obama also turned serious and talked of the financially struggling media industry, praising journalists for holding government officials accountable.

'A government without newspapers, a government without a tough and vibrant media of all sorts is not an option for the United States of America,' he said.

'Finally, I believe that my next 100 days will be so successful that I will be able to complete them in 72 days. And on the 73rd day, I will rest,' he joked.

In a dig at the press, Obama said: 'We look for you for truth -- even if it's always an approximation.'

So what's going to happen to Baleka Mbete I heard she'll be going to Luthuli House. To do what there?

I believe it wasn't an easy decision to choose between Baleka & Kgalema. Baleka yes is an intelligent woman but also Kgalema also handled everything very well since he took over I also just like his character.
