Blue Beetle Entertainment launched the third of our community sites, CitizenX, which gives a voice to those interested in South African politics and current affairs.
Bowing less than a week after South Africa's fourth democratic general elections on 22 April, CitizenX gives people a platform to exchange their views on South African and international politics, as well as current affairs.
Enjoying the freedom of speech and expression as provided for in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, CitizenX aims to promote open and honest debate on and analysis of matters affecting ordinary South Africans, providing a voice to those who may not otherwise have one.
The site features articles, political party press releases, speeches by political leaders, blogs, forums, party pages, manifestos, policy documents and information on national holidays and symbols, Letters to the Editor and news feeds from a variety of reputable political news sources.
The content provides the background of the site; the foreground is the platform upon which Citizen X can make his or her views known, empowered by the resources of the site which forms a solid knowledge base.
CitizenX is the third major community site developed by Blue Beetle Entertainment and our technical partner
Neural Systems.
The first - obviously - is TVSA the country's premier authority on television. Since its launch in May 2006 it has become highly influential in the TV industry and an invaluable resource for television viewers, broadcasting executives, journalists and researchers. It entertains over 150,000 unique users per month and has over 30,000 registered members.
The second -
Snaparazzi, which debuted on 16 February, 2009 - has almost a thousand registered members in its first two months alone, who enjoy the tens of thousands of high quality celebrity pictures and daily news and gossip the site offers.
CitizenX provides the very best in political soap opera entertainment with the intention of becoming the people's voice in South African politics and current affairs.
Invitation to BloggersAny TVSA junkies interested in political or current affairs blogging are invited to create a blog on CitizenX. Although you can still smell the fresh packaging, we need pioneering bloggers to awaken the beast.
Any new site takes a while to really get busy, meaning bloggers who get in at the start won't have huge readerships at first but will be well established as top dogs on CitizenX by the time the masses arrive.
Tashi, Brown Shuga and Cloud9 were all pioneering bloggers on TVSA - we need similarly thoughtful and entertaining bloggers on CitizenX to keep Zuma, Zille and Zeitgeist honest.
If you don't want to blog we'd nonetheless love to see you on CitizenX, posting your crazy opinions.
One quick registration gives you access to blogs, forums, replies and more. Registration is necessary in order to foil spammers.
