So what do you get when you put together two immensely talented youngsters who happen to share an 8 year long friendship and great love for music? SEASON SCOOP!

They, ladies and gentlemen, are in my opinion, the best change brought by YFM to their 2009 line up.

Season Scoop or rather Siz 'n Scoop is derived from Sizwe Dhlomo & Siyabonga Ngwekazi's nicknames and as you can see just from how they came up with the show's name, everything about their show is creativity at play.

Siyabonga is famous for his originality and talent whereas Sizwe is famous for his good looks and arrogance. Will their success on TV translate to success on the airwaves? I was set on finding out so I paid the boys a visit in studio to form an opinion.

You only have to look at the Season Scoop Features to know that the pair mean business and are here to make an impression. If you have a sense of humour and believe in being outspoken, blunt and bold then you will be hooked from the show's first minute!
Their show opens with a Minilogue, which Sizwe describes as four lines that are funny and include local and international news.

Okay, uyazi mos jokes aren't funny when uzincokola so here are samples of their past Minilogues:

Minilogue 1
SCOOP: Yo Siz, the show's so hot, in the streets, we now get more attention than a lesbian at the Oprah School!
SIZWE: Scoop, it's so hot, women can no longer hang with us in the studio because their ovaries will turn into scrambled eggs!
SCOOP: Last night I got a call from satan, saying you guys need to cool it down because you're going to put hell out of business!
SIZWE: Speaking about calls, we've been getting emails from the IFP, asking us to direct some of our heat towards their campaign because they are ice cold right now!

(kwa kwa kwa kwa kwa kwa @ the IFP part....as for the ovaries, I was in studio and my ovaries are in tact lol)

Minilogue 2
SIZWE: We're back for seconds like HHP at a buffet.
SCOOP: We're back like Madonna in Malawi looking to adopt a kid.
SIZWE: We're back like Kenny Maistry at Metro FM hosting breakfast.
SCOOP: We're back like Mshoza after the plastic surgery.

Minilogue 3
SCOOP: The Show's growing everyday, the only thing that's growing faster is the Acne on Mandoza's face
SIZWE: Growing everyday, the only thing that could be bigger would be Tumi if he ate the volume
SCOOP: Growing everyday, the only thing that's larger is SABC's financial debt
SIZWE: Growing everyday, the only thing I know that's bigger is DJ Sbu's pants size before he went on a diet.

(LMAO @ Mandoza's acne...)

Now how could you not want to listen after that? The Minilogue is defs my favourite and other features include :

Domestic Scoop: Local Story by Scoop (duh!)
Siz The World: International Story by Siz!
Class is in Session: Slang word definition
Brunch Box: Topic of Discussion for the day
Props and Chops: Competitive review where either Siz or Scoop select a topic and then decide whether to chop it or not. If the one person chooses to chop it, then the other must prop it and they compete to see who can come up with the most PRO (props) or CONS (chops).

Awesome as their features are, I don't think I would manage to listen to the entire show coz shem mina half the time I had no idea what they were saying. Phela I'm aging really not big on hip hop lingo so I sort of get lost and halfway through, Sizwe got tired of always answering my “what's that?” questions lol.

The last straw was when I referred to the “Domestic Scoop” as “Local Scoop” and he said something like .....
“Hayi hayi hayi...Domestic Scoop man not Local, actually don't worry about remembering, I'll email you the names....jeez, local scoop!” lol.

The first question I asked when I arrived in studio was “Who's the “starring” (pronounced stering) and who's the “extra”...?

Of course the question came up because the show's name is Siz n Scoop not Scoop n Siz plus when I got there Sizwe was running the desk and also sounded like he was running the entire show with Siya chirping in now and again....Siya seemed to be cool with it but uyazi mos, I'm me so I always gotta stir!

Sizwe answered “There's no starring and there's no extra, we are both “starrings”. I've been running the desk since the first show but the plan is that we alternate.”

Brown Shuga: Which one do you prefer, TV or Radio?
Sizwe: TV
BS: Well, I actually like you more on radio than I do on TV. And wena Siya?

Siya: Definitely TV. This is only our 3rd show but it feels like we've been doing it for ever... I don't mind the “invoicing” part though hahah.
BS: Hehehe Siya! Who do you think is hot on SA radio?
Siya: Tholi B!
BS: Oh yeah, I so agree! I actually think they should've given him drive time. Perhaps to co-host with Dineo.
Siya: Tholi B is good and I'm loving Pabi on Highveld. She's very comfortable there and I think it's great that she can speak her English without feeling guilty about it.

BS: Wena Sizwe? Who do you like on local radio?
Sizwe: I don't listen to radio.

(Damn snob! Maybe I should've said “domestic” radio)

BS: Yeah, even if you don't listen...who's hot?
Sizwe: Dude, what kinda question is that, I just told you I don't listen...(starts laughing)
BS: Hayi suka maan Sizwe, you can't tell me you've never listened, you know what I mean!
Sizwe: Hahahahaha that's a silly question, I told you I don't listen, how would I know who's hot if I don't listen!?
(I get irritated coz now everybody's laughing except me lol)
BS: Voetsek!

Shem...people you must just forgive this child, he can't help being arrogant, it's in him! Sizwe is the kinda person who would call you out of the blue but talk to you like you're the one who called him and he's doing you a favour by even talking to you on the phone!!! Jerrrrrr!

I guess the reasons why I like him (even with that arrogance) and why he gets away with being like that is because when it comes to his work, you can never find faults. He is a perfectionist and gives his best all the time so people like him and Kanye West are just like that...you either like them or you don't and you not liking them is not gonna stop them from making money or getting better at what they do!

Now Siya, on the other hand is the sweetest thing ever! I'm always amazed at how, even with his successes, he's still remained the same humble person.
One of his recent updates on Facebook said “I don't dream no more, am busy living mine” and I was like “Wow! There are so many people who never get to say that and if you can then you truly are blessed!”
I would love to see him presenting LIVE (sorry Touch) rather than RGB though coz I think the latter would do well with an out-of-the-closet gay host!

Sjoe, I got carried away neh, konje this was supposed to be about Siz 'n Scoop! Lol

Yeah, well big up to you guys on an awesome show just one thing: Enough with the boring topics on radio please!!!....
I was disappointed that their “topic of discussion” during my visit was “How do you tell your friend that they've got bad body odour...?”

“Really now guys, this topic has been discussed over and over, couldn't you come up with something better?” I complained.

Siya reckons “there's no topic that hasn't been discussed somewhere but it's all about how you put it across and what feedback you get from the masses....”

Well flip, you are Siz 'n Scoop dammit!.....You've set the standards very high so we won't be accepting any mediocrity from y'all and you can certainly do better than the “body odour” topic! That topic is SO “Glen & Unathi”!!!

I heard his interview with DJ Sbu the other day... he was back from recording a show e America--- funny he was discussing John Legend, saying how gay he is bla bla bla... I said to myself " Iqaqa alizizwa ukunuka"

I listen to Highveld and it aint for whites especially the morning show. Pabi does rock on Highveld but yena she can get away with her twang because she can speak her mother tongue properly so no one should have beef with that.

I really dont know what happened to Pabi at Y, all i know is she was very bitter when she left. apparently she was illtreated by management. but she was never a Y material in the first place. DJ Fresh made a huge mistake by recommenting her for breakfast when he left for 5FM.

She is doing a great job at 94.7

coz it is not Siya's first attempt on radio. He tried in Umhlobo Wenene doing a late night slot during wekends 1-5 am. He was soooo I mean sooo boring.

@ Amza, you are so right. T sucked big time on that slot or any other slot for that matter, even on YFM. i just couldn't listen to him But Metro can't get the Breakfast slot right. It has never appealed to me.

Kenny at breakfast is not bad.

Kick Ass Kenny is Ok, he just have to play current music that's all. the only problem with the Morning Jam is that Kenny plays old music, he plays the music that he would have loved to play when he was still at Highveld.

90% of the music on the Morning Jam is about 5/6 years back

Remember Thato from the Fresh breakfast? He is the co host of the Morning Jam with Kenny, He hardly say a word though

Penny & Leko : Penny sounds like she feels threatened by Leko and Leko is enjoy the fear in Penny's voice. Penny, up your game or else Leko will fly solo or find a side kick...or else you will be his sidekick!

Glen & Unathi : This is my favourite show on radio at the moment! But they need to do something interesting and new in their show. Do newsreaders have to co-host the show as well? I love Mel, but really, does she always have to be the co-host? Maybe she should host the Breakfast show!

Sizwe & Siya : Yfm must stop employing tv personalities as radio presenters, they must look for real talent, new and fresh guys like me. This tv personality thing sucks big time. I don't have Yfm, I'm in CT and judging by your comments, the show is not worth listening to over the internet!

KG and ?? : On radio 2000, she was fine alone, but now that she's got a side kick, they are not okay! I no longer relate to their music! And the Afromoja presenters + music suck, I miss Thando and Makhosi.

myname, Radio2000 and Highveld are blackish these days. these two stations have really changed their playlists to accomodate the youthful black market.

Radio2000 has great radio prsenters like bo Just Ice, Kamza and Bertha Charuma.
and Highveld on the flipside has abo Pabi Moloi and Sammy T

I never really listen to 5FM. The only show i listen to on 5FM is called My House on sundays between 19:00 and 22:00 hosted by Euphonik. you not gonna go wrong with this show i can tell you for free.

Higveld is on 94.7FM
Radio2000 is on 99.7FM

Who is the idiot that put Cindy Mgabadeli (sp) in the 9 to 12 slot on safm. The woman is good on financial matters but on other matters she is a no no. Like Monchooza said, as long as they play music and not talking I have no problem. Now of late I can stomach Just-ice with his rumblings on radio 2000. Other than that I will stick with talk radio but for goodness sake do something with this Cindy please.

nah Brown Shuga loving the blog. But enjoying Siz 'n Scoop - it brings a new dimension to these two young gys, doing it for themselves but yes, its target audience is young, but I think more than that, if you arent a hip hop head, some of the lingo will most definately thro one off!

Sizwe - gay! hell no. He too fine not to bless womankind! LOL! But ya has a difficult personality; I dont get why coz he would probably have more fans if he just TRIED not to rub some folks the wrong way!

Siya - cant figure, at all! Am a god person reader, but he is hard to read...still waters run dep...thats all I can say.

But thansk for terrific article - wish you could understand lingo better than would really get the show - concept is really good. But you the best, not just "DOMESTICally" LOL!
@Cinglemom and Virtous - "Ayobaness" - is nothing close to what you will hear on this show; trust me the audience is predominatly clued up, and if any sex-sprung teens crop up, trust Sizwe to coldly shoulder them off! But give show a try - you just might be surprised!
