Metro FM Lineup

Metro FM has just announced their 2009 line-up and I must say I had knots in my stomach when I read through their website. Ka sesotho re re ke tlakantsuke - Mix masala. Here is one change that really concerns me! So much for a hyped up line-up!!!

Thomas Msengana teaming up with Penny Lebyane for the 12h00-15h00 weekday slot

I don't how they came up with the idea of Penny and Thomas together because both of them were not doing so great in their own, so now teaming them up together is just going to be more disastrous. Water and oil - never mixed!

Sorry I know my name is Positivity by I'm not so positive about this. That means we have to wait for another year to have a good midday show on Metro. I'm not going to listen to radio for a while!

What do you guys think? And what do you think about other radio stations!

I think Phato Joe and his teaming are going!

(If you want to see the rest of the line-up go to their website).

27 March : Breakfast with Maistry, lunch with Thomas and dancetop to the beats of SA's hottest club DJs

Kenny Maistry, who has been with 94.7 Highveld Stereo for the past seven years, makes a welcome return to METRO FM from 1 April 2009 – this time as the host of the morning show, Mondays to Fridays from 06h00-09h00. Accompanying him for breakfast every day will be an on-the-ball team that includes Refiloe Mpakanyane, Naked and BBK.

Azania Ndoro will continue to host weekday brunch from 09h00 – 12h00 followed by Thomas Msengana teaming up with Penny Lebyane for the 12h00-15h00 weekday slot. They will be joined by Nkululeko “Leko” Ngcobo, who was previously with Igagasi FM. Thoban Jappie, Sizwe Mabena and Vatiswa Ndara will complete the lunch-time team.

Great news for sports fans – especially with the influx of sporting events heading SA’s way over the next two years, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup – is that Robert Marawa’s weekday sports show is being increased by half an hour from the 1st May. Catch up with all the sporting news and views, goals and fouls, between 18h00 and 19h30, Monday to Friday.

Talk on METRO FM still retains its crucial place in the weekday evening line up (19h00-21h00) with Sakina Kamwendo and Criselda Kananda behind the microphone.

The station has also brought two of the country’s hottest club DJs – Vinny da Vinci and Christos Katsaitis – on board to add further spice to its lineup. They will be joining Zandile “Zeal” Dladla for the Friday 22h00-01h00 shift to get the weekend party pumping. In addition to Friday nights, she is set to place her stamp on Saturdays between 22h00 and 01h00, joined by DJ Siyanda – one of KwaZulu-Natal’s most popular DJs, who is renowned for his uncanny ability to fill any dancefloor.

Proverb has also been promoted to the 03h00 to 06h00 weekend slot, paving the way for two dynamic new trainees, Aya and Delani Mthimkulu, to make the midnight to 3am slot their own.

Another new voice on the METRO FM airwaves is Ismail Abrahams from Radio 2000, who will be taking over the 12h00-15h00 slot on Saturday. METRO FM is also introducing an exciting new lifestyle show on Saturday evenings between 20h00 and 21h00, hosted by Lebyane, Mpakanyane and Lupi Ngcayisa on a rotational basis.

Eddie Zondi retains his 21h00-24h00 slot, Mondays to Thursdays, but swaps shows with Wilson B Nkosi on Sundays. From April, Zondi will present the 09h00 to 12h00 Sunday show and Nkosi will take charge of the 15h00 to 18h00 shift.

Paul Mtirara and Bambo Johnson are also exchanging slots, with Johnson now presenting the 24h00-03h00 weekday show and Mtirara taking over the reins from 03h00-06h00. In addition to his Saturday morning show, Adil can now also be heard on Sundays from 10pm to midnight.

METRO FM Station Manager Matona Sakupwanya said she was delighted with the refreshed lineup. “I’m confident that these changes will add extra zing and variety to the station’s offering, and they fit in perfectly with our strategy,” she commented.

is only gonna be doing sports, pretty much like BBK & Marawa are doing on the breakfast & drive shows respectively so no need to worry, my boy won't be making noise. Actually, he sounds so great you'll want him to take over from Thomas/ Nkululeko.......weird that his other name is also Nkululeko!

SORRY FOR A LONG POST BUT IT MAKES SENSE!

I was listening to the trio on Metro's Reality Show yesterday. I must say that it is unfortunate that Thomas just started picking up his sox when his wings were clipped. He sounded great even though he was late! Came around one.

This is what really got me going. on the show yesterday ..Thomase's conversation at the end of the show with Penny! This discussion is based on the article on City Press about Penny's marital problems! http://jv.news24.com/City_Press/News/0,,186-187_2481672,00.html

Discussion below:

Thomas: Beechies High Five, actually no let's do the real thing... Before the Fame (Zwai was on the Show) I was proud yesterday
Mel: It was very cool
Leko: I'm checking
Penny: I don't have a TV...I don't know what they are talking about!
Thomas: You don't have a tV, did they break into your house too Lolly?
Penny: No, they didn't break into my house!
Thomas: Or was it part of the settlement?
Leko laughing...Penny laughing sarcastically
Penny: Heeeheheh, Iyhoo
Leko: Thoooommmmase
Penny: Uuuu, Thomase
Thomas: Ngicela ilift
Penny: Thomase
Mel and Leko laughing
Penny: Thomase
Leko: Thoooomaaase
Penny: Iyhaaa. I've got nothing to say to you Thomas. Fine it's three o' clock and Mel is here!
Mel: Are you being bullied Love?
Leko laughing at the back...
Penny: No they could never...they could never bully me even if they tried!
Thomas: Can I come and watch tv at your house?

Here's the article for those who can't access the link.

METRO FM DJ Penny Lebyane’s fairytale relationship with businessman Ali Naka is on the rocks.

“It is toxic and I cannot continue with this relationship,” Naka said this week of his five-year relationship with the mother of his two kids.

This after he was allegedly chased out of their mansion and assaulted by Lebyane’s mother, Eva Mashego, on Friday afternoon after about four months of growing tension between him and his mother-in-law.

There was drama at the exclusive Eagle Canyon Golf Estate in Honeyridge, north-west of Joburg, on Friday when Mashego allegedly assaulted Naka. Naka called the police as neighbours and onlookers enjoyed the midday spectacle.
As a result of the drama Lebyane could not get to work at Metro FM for her midday show because Naka had confiscated his car, a Range Rover Sport, which she uses.

Naka said he was now on the run because Mashego had threatened to kill him.

“I am not going back there before I get an eviction order, because she said that she was going to kill me,” he said.

He has since opened a case of intimidation, assault and malicious damage to property at the Honeydew police station.

Captain Lydia Mtila-Dikolomela, spokesperson for the Honeydew police, confirmed that a case had been opened by both Naka and Mashego and that police were investigating.

Naka said what triggered Friday’s drama was that he had insisted on driving Penny to the SABC, but her mother had apparently wanted Penny to go alone.

“I had got wind that she was going to meet a boyfriend; that is why she refused to go with me.

“I presume I am getting this whole raw deal maybe because I am not South African,” said Naka.

Naka said the problems started when Lebyane’s mother moved into their house in November last year and started interfering with their lives.

“When there is no sugar in my house, she knows about it. She goes through my personal stuff and accuses me constan

What really gets to me is that Segale has the time to answer questions from Sunday World but they don't even bother explaining to their listeners on the website about his whereabouts!
