Malik Zwane
This is a man who is not only a soldier for the Ghetto Ruff stable but also a soldier for soul music. However his debut album 'I AM FREE' which was released in 2005 is a house album. I briefly questioned him as to what was the driving force that led him to venture into the world of house music. He explained that he would like to see every experience as a chance to learn and is glad to have gone down that path because it taught him something new. Ladies no need to worry heart-throb Malik in his element (soul).
Let’s look at this man’s past and how he made his way up in the music industry. Malik got a small yet sweet taste of stardom and popularity after being a contestant on the then hit television game show JAM ALLEY. This to him was an invitation to get onto our television screens on a regular basis and to be famous. To his mother, who is his greatest inspiration, this taste was not enough to get her to approve of the idea. So Malik carried on with his mainstream education. He was a student at Pretoria Tech where he studied bio-technology and proceeded to work for Coca-Cola. That is when he decided to enter Coca-Cola Pop stars where he got eliminated for his lack of dancing skills . . . a blessing in disguise wouldn’t you say?
Well to cut a long story short, one of the things Malik got out of the Pop stars phase was a list of contacts which included those of well known producer Kyllex. Malik and Kyllex love at first sound and just like that Malik got his big break. Thank goodness for Kyllex . . . thank you Kyllex for introducing us to what many call the next neosoul king. Malik has collaborated with the likes of Ishmael, Tuks, Zola and the list is endless, impressive? Obviously, that how kings roll.
Malik is now a father to a beautiful baby boy who is his world. Having grown up without his dad Malik is determined to be the best father he possibly can.

My flava of the week is currently working on his third album I don’t know about you but I cannot wait to hear what this talented man has in store for us.
