Introduction to Soul City Season 9

The 9th Season of Soul City started tonight with a whole lot of new stuff: new characters, new setup and no longer an introduction to the Masakhane clinic in the first episode this time...

We get introduced to the Moloi's, Mr Moloi's friends, his makhwapeni's and others.

The Moloi family is made up of four members.

1. Zimele Moloi,
He is married to Lebza Moloi and they have 2 kids, Mihlali & Bulela. From what i could gather from the first episode Mr Moloi has @ least 2 makhwapeni's. Lulu and Noluthando. He meets Lulu for the first time while she came to his store looking for new earings since she is going to an SABC interview.

Lulu claims to not have money for the earings after Zimele has put on the earings on her ears.He then offers to give her as a gift. Well i dont know but somehow it looked like Lulu had planned for that to happen.

Zimele then lies to his wife whom it looks like is the manager/ a business partner, he tells her he is going to meet with the suppliers whereas he wants to take Lulu to her interview and later takes her out for lunch and start flattering her. The girl falls for it coz we see that 3 months later Lulu & Zimele became an item.

One evening while in a drinking spree with his friends, his ex Noluthando comes through with her friend and they both suprised to meet each other and from what i could gather they both ready to take it from where they left off.

2. Lebza Moloi,
Mr Moloi's wife, whom to me it seemed as if she is sticking to this marriage because they have been together for a long time. For some reasons she has meetings with Mr Cele who is her son's Maths teacher and they discuss the son's future after hours, mhmhm strange.. The teacher tells her he will like to be more than just friends but NO although she aint happy in her marriage she aint buying any of that.

3. Bulela Moloi,
Mr & Miss Moloi's first born, he, like me(hi hi hi) is good in Maths and to me it looks like he is in Grade 12 and would wanna study medicine in Harvard should he get the department of education's scholarship.

4. Mihlali is Bulela's younger sister, who sounds like someone who likes politics and will question every decision made @ home by her parents. She is keen in helping her mother because she feels her father is always watching sports and the brother doesn't help much.

5. Lulu played by Mbali pictured below

She is that girl who dates an older married man to pay her sister's school fees and take care of her sick grandmother..The grandmother is old enough and sick enough to get a grant but she has got no ID or birth certificate..Her granny is convinced Lulu has got a decent job coz she puts food on the table and pays her sister's school fees.

Lulu is on the other hand dating a guy his age, and we see her spoiling him and even giving him an MP3 player that she got from her sugar daddy as a present. this boy is so convinced that she loves her until he reads an sms on her phone from Zimele.

Lulu's sister is not really fond of her sister's doings but Lulu reminds her that they have food because of her and that she pays her school fees

6. Zakes played by Zulu boy pictured below

A grade 12 learner from Soul City high school, who is not really good in Maths and would like Bulela to help him with a few sums. He later finds out from an sms he read on his girlfriend's phone (Lulu) that she is dating someone and i couldn't exactly see what was the content of the sms..

What we see though is Zakes approaching Mihlali (who was goin to open the shop with her mother) and asking her qusestions such as if she is Bulela's younger sister?

Well we will have to wait until next week to see what happens..

7. Of course there is the usual Solly (the coloured dude who speaks Zulu), i think he is an still HIV-AIDS activist and he gives one of his friends condoms to use coz he will be sleeping with a stranger that night.

8. The guy who was Mojo from Stokvel, who plays a loyal husband to his wife and leaves immediately when his friends start playing around with young chicks.

9. We also get introduced to Dineo who is one of the most brilliant students in class and unlike Bulela she has already applied for that scholarship.

10. Mr Cele/Zele,
a Maths teacher at Soul City high who wants to take date a married woman coz he can see clearly that she is not happy in her marriage.

Sister Bertina will also join in later, probably to test Zimele or the wife for HIV, asazi but we all know how soul city goes mos

LAWD i can't believe i watched this, but in any case i love the scene where they show Zimele and Lebza having sex, the clock starts at 9:55, by 10:00 Zimele was already saying good night to his wife...... Zuluboy is just dirty with or without make-up.....but i was very impressed with his acting.....

What did y'all think about last night's episode?? - I was surprised.....it was actually not bad.....Themba Ndaba looks very poor.......big ups to the make-up people......As you said there was no Masakhane Clinic on the first episode.....I think i saw Xolile Tshabalala on the credits......i hope she's one of the actresses on this season.....

The first episode was not bad at all, Zulu boy impressed me a lot.....i laughed at the Harvard story...it reminded me when i was in High School, our Biology teacher encouraging me to study medicine....Nkosi we didn;t even have a lab nor proper Biology and Physics textboooks....mara ke shame, there's nothing wrong at dreaming.......look where Obama is????

I will be watching next week, just to see Mbali's beautiful smile......let me pray

I watched it yesterday, I must say I was impressed by Zuluboy acting, not bad for the newcomer. I believe we will see Xolile as she was there on the previous season, love her acting.

I was also impressed with nu faces, and must have missed Tony as well.
Mbali o motle hleng batho and i enjoy her acting shem ngwana batho. I'm definately tuning in for the 2nd episode next week.

I liked how they still kept a few cast members from the old seasons even though the storyline is made up mainly by new characters. It makes one remeber that we are watching Soul City , as predictable as it, I still enjoy watching it. I hope they wont disappoint next week.

I normally dislike Soul City and never watch it, but i stumbled on it lastnight and enjoyed it. yha uZuluboy kumele bamhlambe ngomadubhula (Jeyes Fluid), umdaka nyani loyamfana. Its a pity he wasn't cast somewhere as a snob at a private school cos they wuda made him take out those gold teeth.....lol

Themba is poor these days...his rich ex-wife Sophie Ndaba divorced him......now i know why he is back to Acting....Didn't the brother own some ad agency? Or wasn't he an Exec on some ad agency company????? Can Mfundi Vundla please employ Xolile Tshabalala......i really want to watch Generations this year.....i feel so lost when i visit my family.....at 8pm everyone speaks the same language...all i can do is watch and listen.....i hate not being able to contribute to a conversation...especially with my crazy younger sister.......

Morning Morning & Good Morning, Oh Zuluboy is the man guys. Forget about his look, Lil'Wayne's teeth (2 much gold teeth) plus amably akhe (We used 2 call amably abantu who dont comb their hair). The boy can act bathong!!! He was just so perfect. Actually im really impressed & thanks 2 the casting agency. Well done Zulub. Oh Mbali Mlotshwa, she is the reason i cut my mum's call last nite cause i know we would talk the whole 30min's. The girl is gorgeous & she has a sweet face. I wish she can grow alone, with no man abazomkhathaza, and stay like that 4ever. LOL Sobza..... Lastly nice recap Cande & i cant wait for the 2nd episode. Dankie ausi

I kind of enjoyed last nights episode, thanks for the recap Cande.

I wasn't concentrating 100% though coz I was also cooking. Does anyone know how I can do the cooking and preparing for next day faster? It takes me so long I get home after 6 and go to bed at 10 and in that time I don't get a minute to just sit watch TV and do nothing else.

I'm glad they changed the format and duraton to allow for continuity. Remember those 1hour episodes and if it was about say abuse they'd show us someone being moered for the entire episode? That format sucked big time.

Goldensta don't go buy Woolies food when you dont get R36000 from anyone, just cook in bulk and refrigerate ur food, no need to fry one drumstick when you know you ain't gon be able to fry it again ngomso, fry 6 and store them in the freedge, same wit ur rice and pasta etc, frozen veggies cook very quick ke zona, no need to cook everyday. Cook a big pot of chicken/beef stew and store in freidge.

i heard a few weeks back that Thabang nkonyeni who played the part of matlakala in season 4 of soul city was found dead in her flat, she was stabbed to death and found by a friend a few days after her death......now my problem is that i dont remember her. so can you please guy give me a link to a website that has a picture of her.....please
