Maureen Is Married!

Article: allAfrica..com

I was very happy to read that Maureen Namatovu (28) from Big Brother Africa 2 got married over the weekend.

I guess I felt happy coz I expected to hear she was admitted to a mental institution but this is definitely a good thing and I wish her and the hubby all the best.

According to the article, Maureen's hubby is an American, Taylor Garrett (31) who is a law graduate but working as a Social Worker for the UNHCR.

While reading about the wedding, I got a little worried about a piece in one of the articles

"......Dr Wilson Garrett (who appointed himself the best man) explained his son's big heart: "He shares a heritage from his mother, who has a great care for other human beings. He has always wanted to do something for humanity."
It is as well that such impressive testimonies left a mark on Maureen's father, Ambassador William Matovu. "I thank Taylor for choosing my daughter as his wife," Matovu said......"

Maybe I read too much into things but I sort of had the idea that everybody was making it sound like Taylor did Maureen a favour by marrying her?

- Is this marriage part of his humanity acts?

- What's up with Maureen's dad "thanking" him for choosing his daughter, as if he's some sort of Prince/saint?  Shouldn't he be saying, take care of my daughter etc etc?

- Are these mixed race marriages a new trend in Africa or should I say with BBA contestants? I'm really just asking....

Okay, let me stop being jealous and say Congratulations Mau Mau!! Wish you a long and beautiful marriage. Can't wait to see the off springs!! Taylor is definitely way hotter than Code!

Just read the full article on allafrica and agree about it being worrying - all those Ambassadors and other types making it all about them politically plus the dad "making himself" the best man and specifically mentioning Mau's a "Ugandan" wife, - all that in context with his comments hectically suggest they think that the husbands doing Mau a favour. Getting more and more freaked the more I think about it! There's also no quote by a woman anywhere - not even Mau.

BS you are not paranoid at all, the boy is doing Mau Mau a favour, look at the pic, that's a smile of a nervous person. She's probably thinking 'oh Lawd, did you really give me a white boy from America as a Husband?'...... Yes yes BS, being involve with a person of a different race is the 'new black'..... Very fashionable.....LOL..... Can someone please call Lerato to come and comment on this blog.......

Vintage Shuga!!!! Why should Maureen be in a mental institution. Don't  read too much meanings into housemates behaviour  because they are locked up like prisoners and don't have access to the outside world. Such people are bound to react to their new-found environment in different ways. I am happy for Maureen and wish her all the best.

I hate to start any controversy here, since all the regulars are back - my sister Segololo, Tashi, Lady D, MJJ, etc - but the lady made the best choice - a white bloke who knows the meaning of love - not a deceitful black bloke. I hope we have not forgotten how deceittful Code was. Maureen came accross as insecure emotionally and I think she made the right choice for herself. Selecting someone from a race that was least likely to hurt her feelings and show her real love.

One wonders if any of her housemates were invited to the wedding. Shuga kindly find out.

Just yesterday i was wondering what the housemates are up to: Shuga, since you got most of them on speed dial, update us please?

Congrats to Maureen - siyambongela...

Where's Munya, is he is Zim (highly doubt it), Ricco?? Did he ever come back for them to start recording? Shiela, Uti, Lucille?

Oh my, Kwaku, Bertha, Meryl, etc...what have been up to?

dotty

@mjj

I reside in Pretoria not Lagos.

@ Shuga

Kindly update us on the housemates. What are they up to?

@Segololo and Beyonce

I  must  first say that I am black and proud. If you can recall, Maureen mentioned when she was in the house that she just broke up with her boyfriend, then Code deceived her. To me she appeared insecure emotionally from her behaviour and remember she cried when she was narrating what happened to her when she was young.

On average , a black man does not really know the meaning of love. This is not the case with an average white man who is more expressive and on average honest. Therefore I think Maureen made the right choice for herself.  It would have been disastrous for her to hook up with another black bloke!!!!!

What? You are crazy you know that. You want to tell me all black men are like that? Please elaborate, is this based on your experiences.  I see you said on average but still explain.
