As for that Oprah comment

The last time i spoke my mind about this woman, tensions ran high. But here's the deal.Whoopi is on every weekday now so anybody who wants to overglorify oprah can go jump off a bridge. Here goes nothing.
I don't need to be fed more of her "commercial gimmick of a show",It sickens me when she constantly refers to "my school in Africa" like we where all walking around butt naked and barefooted before she "saved" us with her idea for an academy for exellent girls, but she never talks about that sick woman she personally hired only for her to molest some of these briliant girls(and yes there are other academies for girls in S.A let alone the rest of Africa).
I'm not clueless about how such a known show needs advertisers and sponsors but sometimes i wonder if she doesn't get paid to say things and then get some few millies in her own pocket. And don't even get me started on her charity "Responsibilities", it could be so that she can avoid the heavy hand of the taxman.
So before people bounce off walls trying to defend such an overglorified public figure, think closer to home. It's not like Oprah (who needs serious interviewing lessons from a black person) needs more groupies

PS: Whoopi rocks!

nobody thinks Oprah is perfect but i'll tell you this: ms Oprah Winfrey ROCKS!!!!

as 4 the molester you should be glad Oprah didnt make a big deal about her. we as SA dont need the bad press about people molesting our children in girls' schools.

lay off Oprah!!!!!

as for Whooi, she's cool n her own rght BUT ther's simply no comparison

My people are Still in the dark i see. There's no arguing that the role Oprah plays in the entertainment industry has meant woman could finally reach for the sky, and that's all there is to it. The rest is overglorifying S#@. And who's this Segololo? The last time i checked Rubybrown don't do intimidation

There is nothing that makes me sick as these American or whatever schlebs who come to SA on "charity drives" as if we can't do things for ourselves, we are much capable THANK U....as for this Academy school -- we have may good private schools, the list is endless it I can count them, that have survived and are still doing great without the americano help....
azHOT just think if it had happened to your child? then would she still ROCK?
As for Whoopi.....well she made a statement years back that she is American and Africa aint her roots let alone home, and she stuck to that story, nothing irritates as these dudes who cum here ..kiss the ground...and say I'm HOME WTF?

This is on the same page as South Africans who buy American music for twice the price they would pay for a local cd. South Africans suffer from an infiriority complex. They want foreigners to evaluate everything they do instead of being original and seeking appreciacion from other African countries (i'm not xenophobic, just honest). That is why they would pay R100 to hear American rappers insult woman instead of empowering local talent by supporting them.

eish-bo and Rubybrown let me tell you this, you better listen coz i'm gonna say this once!

South Africans need all the help they can get! What have the two of you done to help out in charities?? I am sure you have done nothing...SA is poor and that is a fact! Just becoz you can sleep in a nice bad and eat some average nice food does not mean you should deny other people help from somewhere else...You two dont give a damn about poor children staying in charities, you would like to see them suffer and not getting any help.......If O does not give these people are you gonna help them, to them every single cent counts and makes a difference!

You two have BIG EGOs! U r in denial, SA needs help and we cannot do that all on our own!!!!

Rubybrown donations are not tax deductible, so your ill-informed argument about O trying to escape tax by giving out donations is dead!

Dont take this in the wrong way, this is not an attack against you..its just that....................mhhhhhhhhhhnnn

<<You are lucky because Segololo is a night blogger....................or is it Cnglemother? I can't remember but count yourself lucky!!!!! >> it's me... the Oprah blogger

<<I think it's Sego....never liked Whoopi... >> DJ Why why, I hope you don't mean I never liked Whoopi..I dont mind her or any other talk show host for that matter.

I love and admire Oprah. I now and believe in different strokes for different folks. I loveBig Brother and will not go and say eff off to peeps that like the gospel show because I like big brother. Just because we like different things, and find different things to admire in others does not mean we have to crucify those who dont.

Oprah often does things that annoy me too. but I focus on the positives and the things I find admirable in and about her. Nobody is perfect, anyways. her comments may not sit well with you, Ruby, that is fine; say so but don't diss or be rude to those who like her...

<<but she never talks about that sick woman she personally hired only for her to molest some of these briliant girls>> As soon as the South African legal system has run its course and provides a guilty verdict on the alleged crimes, I am certain Oprah will make a comment or release a statement. The South african legal system is currently doing what it needs to be doing.

<<So before people bounce off walls trying to defend such an overglorified public figure, think closer to home. It's not like Oprah (who needs serious interviewing lessons from a black person) needs more groupies >>Oprah does not need anyone to defend her, she deals with haters by ignoring them and they EVENTUALLY leave her alone. thinking closer to home, is Whoopi South African?

Segololo

<",It sickens me when she constantly refers to "my school in Africa" >> BUtT Ruby, she DID build a school in Africa, didn't she? or o a claimer? NO! She did spend money and built a schol that she named after her... We can't take that away from her. AND if she is proud about her school she has every right to speak and say what she wants. I speak a lot about my husband - that doesn't mean that I am looking down at those that are unmarried - I speak about him because I am proud of him and his choice to make me his wife. Back to Oprah, she built a school that she is proud of it and herself for the achievement, never to rub it in and make others assume that Africa needed saving from sore feet but to say I made a difference in other people's lives... AND hell! there really isn't much ish to say about the schools in Msanzi, most need saving and we need more schools, private or public!

<<but she never talks about that sick woman she personally hired only for her to molest some of these briliant girls>>The only obligation Oprah has, at this point of the case, is to the brilliant girls (as you call them Ruby) not the paparazzi or papers. She makes private visits to the school to make sure the girls can feel free to discuss their concerns... When the time is right for her, she will address all those that want to know what she thinks... AND by the look of things as much as you hate her words, you listen to her...

Please we all have a choice to make and if i find American music appealing i will go out for what ever the cost might be and buy their Music! And if another fellow South African does the same theyt research and they give me something to listen and charger me R200 i will go and buy that disc with no hesitations so please we all need to play our part where that is consent!

Bitterness and jeoulosy will make you write bad things about innocent pple!

Ruby the incident that ocurred at the school could have occured anywhere else and it was beyond Oprah's control. As a proudly african i also do get the feeling that when she talks about the school that the impression given to her fellow ignorant americans that its the best school by far and the best thing ever to happen to african girls.Anyway thats how i feel about americans as a whole, the miseducation about Africa.I am a Oprah fan i do believe she has brought change to many people's lives. She's human at the end of the day and bound to make mistakes like the rest of us,there was really no need for you to attack anything that idolises Oprah to get your message across, you love your Whoopi and i will keep my Oprah. My like for her doesnt cloud my judgement into believing that she has no flaws and can proudly disagree with what she preaches should it not sit well with me and not make sense. I still feel she has done little in fighting the perception that americans have about Africa as her arguments only dwell on the negative side of things, not even once i have ever heard her mentioning the glam part of SA saying that during my stay in south africa I had a wonderful stay at one of their 5star resort/hotel.Just to make them aware that we are exposed to the good things in life and some of us have better lives than some americans. Most americans probably think when she comes here she's coming to rescue some family in dire need of food and are not aware her first stop is at the Saxon/Michaelangelo hotel in sandton and will spend just an hour with Africa's famous orphans 2 days later.

To Sego--- Yes South African would never do that because pple are still trying to enrich themselves and when pple who know and have felt how it feels like to be monied come to help we throw them with their help in the face that's just not on!!!! If Rubybrown can build a school better that the O Empire then and only then i think she can go ahead and trash our Big O like that!!!!! so for now she has done nothing i think she must just take i back seat and watch O saying what she feels like about the School she build with her well earned money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
