Church vs Gays

WHAT'S YOUR CHURCH'S STANCE ON HOMOSEXUALITY?

I've had a priviledge of visiting Grace Bible Church (GBC) over the years and what I realised is how welcoming the church is. GBC has a huge following and one thing I noticed is how welcoming they are to homosexuals/gays.

HERE'S WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT

What's different about GBC or any other church that makes gays feel at home?

Will the church be misinterpreting the Lord's Word if they accept gays in their congregation?

Is homosexuality becoming a trend?

How can the church overcome their prejudices, misconceptions and fears concerning homosexuals?

Has the church (Body of Christ as a whole) done what it was called to do? That being, to bring God's message of love and reconciliation.

Do gay people feel welcomed at your church without being given horrible looks by the Elders?

Can gays be delivered from homosexuality?

IS THE WORLD OF GOSPEL FILLED WITH GAY MEN?

I MELIKA IPHALA PHAMBILI

Donnie McClurkin states that he is now an ex-gay

Before Transformation

He is also a pastor

After Transformation

Lyrics from his song Naked Truth:
"I did it, I made it ...[I'm] the genius, the faggot, the weirdo, the hobo, the homo, the magnet."

AND WE ARE ALSO GROOMING LA EMZANTSI

Can He be delivered?

Apparently ufuna ukutshata ubhuti.  Maybe he should marry the one below

01 Oct 2008 18:29

Guys I go to GBC and I believe it is a good thing for any church to welcome gay or any kind of person. That said I do not think by doing that GBC promotes being gay/homosexuality. Jesus Christ would hang around with all kinds of people hense He said, " the doctor is for the sick"  when he was questioned about sitting with tax collectors and sinners.

My point is, I and many other Christians believe that homosexuality is a sin and if that is the case how are they going to be transformed if we don't welcome them in the house of God. I believe Homosexuality is a sin like any other sin so we can't look at differently from other sins. If fornicaters and drunkards are welcome in the house of God why shouldn't gays be?

NB: This is my bilief based on the word of God and I hope it won't make me look like I am jugding because personally I do have a gay friend that I love so much and I don't preach to him I just love him for the person that he is. He is going to be the only man in my baby shower and everyone knows, that baby shower can never be the same without him.

And Oh! there are many gay people that have been transformed who are now preaching against it, eg Pastor Donnie McClurkin, just like there are many sex addicts who have been transformed, eg Kirk Franklin and Kgotso.

@ Suzzy82 - "i don't go to church also b'coz our pastor made one gal pregnant ,its better if i stay home and pray for my self and read my bible than to go to church"

Is it about your spirit Suzzy82 or is about your pastor? Why not find another church then?

Same here PY, thina we've got two main pastors. Both are highly respected and both are married with wonderul mamfundisi's and they have kids with them. In a matter of a month, we discovered ama scandals about them. The one is gay and has been seen in Durban Florida Road picking up prostitues at night and when he was caught on camera he says he takes them to pray for them, I was like WTF???

Our other pastor, yena he is the hott Morris Chesnut type *when he is giving the service, I makes sure I arrive 30 minutes early, coz he gives us all these warm hugs b4 church starts".........neway, that's not the point, the point is he made a young youth church leader pregnant. I tell u guys, I stayed at home for about two month and I decided to quit church all together.

But then I realised that pastors are human and they also make mistakes, if they are misleading us and pulling aSis Ribs and faking the holy spirit, it's their sh!t that they will face on judgement day, but fact of the matter is I went back to church and praising God, not ourpastors!!! Hao bathong? Is being gay a sin?which chapter in the bible says that? i guess i am reading my bible upside down, because i have never come across that scripture.

I used to believe that gays chose to be gay but guys i saw it with my own eyes that you dont choose to be gay, our moruti's son is now 9 years old, ever since he was 2 he used to talk & behave like a girl, play with girls even now he is a plain girl, the sad thing is he doesnt understand what is going on or what he is doing wrong, he cant even change, that is who he is.

Most of you guys know how unfairly gays are treated, i mean who would choose a sex preference that society mocks & abuses? really now, let's not judge that they are sinning, they have evil spirits and all that rubish! there is no one who is hollier (Sp) than the next person, because we commit sin each and everyday of our lives but no one is judging us, so please guys let's just leave the sinning comments to the one who doesnt commit sin, and that is God!

Triple lol FD ka mazayoni!!!!! Nonny & Cngle I will pray for you girls!! LOL!!!!

This is a touchy topic...I will not bring my church's name or views to it...I'll stick to my own personal opinions.

I believe the church is a place where people from all walks of life come in to find restoration. And that includes everyone...straight man and woman, gays, drunks, junkies...alles. The church is a place where everyone should be welcome without being judged (the good book does say judging is the Lord's job) and should be made comfortable.
Even though they are all welcome to come into the gates and worship with everyone else - the people should live by the house's rules... If the church believes that unless you are straight you are not a true christian and thus cannot participate in the front line or serve in the church then the gay community should not feel that they are being singled out...Many chuches do not allow people who drink/do drugs/prostitutes or girls who fall pregnant/fathers they believe are sleeping around to participate in their services...I do not get the fact that the gay people should think that they are special and are beyond the church's rules...Yes you are welcome to come in but once you are in you should do things the way we do it...

It's like if you invite people to your own house - they are welcome to come in and spend time with you BUT whilst in your gates those people better live by your rules otherwise!!!

@Cody-Hao bathong? Is being gay a sin?which chapter in the bible says that?

Lev. 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."

Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"

1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

Rom. 1:26-28, "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."

Having said that

Mathew 7 (1-3) Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgement you make, you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get

Hense I said mna in my reply that homosexuality is just like any other sin so me being a fornicater is not any different from someone who is gay, hense they are welcome in the house of God otherwise how are they going to get diliverance just like the fornicater needs diliverance as well. No one is perfect but that does not mean that if I fornicate I should shy away from the fact that it is a sin and always will be as long as the word of God says so, just like homosexuality will always be a sin.

andi01
02 Oct 2008 11:27

@Lela-just like homosexuality will always be a sin. exactly,  as much as i love my brother (the thief), i will always say that stealing is a sin. I accpet him coz I will never change him, he has always been a thief, we started seeing signs when he was 7 yearsl old, he is now 19 and he hasnt change. the same applies to homosexuality, it is a sin, just because we stand up and say it is doesnt mean we hate our brothers, we are just stating the truth. But being homesexual doenst make one sub-human, he is just a human like all of us, just a sinner like all of us.

My pastor says that he does not believe in gays, but he will not chase them out of the church, because Jesus would not have done that.

Instead he prays for them.

Church is a place of healing. All sin is the same to God. So if churches welcome fornicators (sex before marriage), liars, gossipers which make up 99% of the church, i don't see why gays/lesbians are not welcome to get healing. What most churches refuse to do is marry gays/lesbians cos they'll be promoting what the bible term abominable(sp)...amen...i'll stop here!

Church is like a body or organisation. Each organisation has a constitution which guides everyone on conduct. We are all people and we are not perfect.  I am NOT PERFECT and so have no authority to Judge only GOD has that authority. The Bible acts as The Word of God, it is there to guide the CHURCH- which is said to be the Body Of Christ. This Bible is what I would call myself -The Constitution of the Church in every gathering it is opened and read. I do not go to church I don't wanna lie, but my siblings are SAVED and my mother is a church 'goer' and so have come to learn about some of the things that go on in church. In every organisation the members strive not to break the laws of the constitution and if one breaks them he/she is rebuked by the seniors and given a chance to repent, if he does not then he forfeits membership. This is not at all different from what happens to the church, if one potatoes is roten throw it out, bad company corrupts, if you do think about it, it makes sense. If one is not willing to follow what their (constitution) the Bible, of course they have the right to exclude them in their congregation. Yes the church is full of some evil people, I do not even go to church because some people might not accept me for who I am, because I will be expected to change a lot of things, because it seems like a heavy yoke awaits you the minute you step in, but if I do decide to be part of any church I know that I would have to rid myself of things like sex before marriage and a whole lot of other sins that I commit everyday without even knowing they are sins and follow what the Bible (the constitution) says.
The Word of God is said to be the truth, MAY THAT TRUTH BRING LIGHT TO US AND SET US ALL BE FREE FROM EVEN THOSE THINGS THAT WE  THINK WE KNOW AND ARE SO DETERMINED NOT TO CHANGE OUR MINDS OF AND GUIDE US, TAMMING EVEN OUR HARD HEARTS, FOR WE DO NOT SEE THE WHOLE PICTURE BUT GOD THE TRUTH KNOWS IT. Amen.

Interesting topic, very controversial too.
Sorry, i can't help, all i know is that Lundi needs some serious help.

H24, can you help me here....can someone be gay today, and then straight tomorrow, and be gay once again when he/she feels like it? I had a gay friend once, and at some point he hit on me...made me wonder if being gay is all about the sex or is there really something like true love among gays, i mean being faithful to one partner and all?
