Face Of Africa: SA Castings

oluchi_150x215M-Net’s cross-continental model talent search Face of Africa will be back for new season soon and auditions are currently happening round Africa.

So far the schmodel scouts have visited: Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda and in early October they'll casting their search in South Africa.

On Saturday 4 October, South African modelling talent will be able to enter the show and impress the competition’s judges at Fashion Kapitol in Johannesburg’s Fashion District.

Casting opens at 09h00.

This year’s scouts at the casting sessions are: 2005 Face of Africa title holder Botswana's Kaone Kario and South African catwalk veteran Andiswa Manxiwa - who was also a scout in the last season.

Who can enter?

The search is open to young women between the ages of 17 and 24.

The minimum height requirement is 1.72m; the maximum hip measurement is 96 cm.

Entrants should not have an existing modelling contract.

How the competition works

At the end of the 13 casting sessions across Africa, approximately 24 finalists will be selected to participate in a Model Boot camp on the island of Zanzibar in November.

From here 10 finalists will be chosen for the Grand Finale to be held in Sun City on Saturday 29 November. It'll be broadcast live on M-Net at 20h00.

In the lead-up to the Finale M-Net will broadcast four special episodes that show the casting process leading up to the final showdown.

The prize

Helmed by former Face of Africa winner Oluchi Onweagba, the prize includes a three-year modelling contract prize from her modelling agency O-Model Africa.

The winner will also scoop USD 50 000 in cash.

Other prizes include a year’s accommodation in Johannesburg and Cape Town where O Model Africa operates, a life coaching course and financial advice as well as photographic test shoots, the creation of modelling Z-cards and the development of a modelling portfolio.

Gosh does one really has to be a toothpick and be so dark to be a Model. What about a beatifull sizer 34 structure with an appropriate height...gees i'm talking the likes Beyonce's body.

Beyonce's body is taking it a bit too far. Acctually African Models have got a bit of meat. Go to FTV and see what I mean. Beyonce is a bit too big for"normal" modelling and remember that people are following the standards of International modelling. The previous Face of Africa didn't make it anywhere because she was way too short and had a bit of meat. So her destiny is in SA and nowhere else.
