Yesterday’s episode had a lot of “
for the first time” for me and it was better than last week.
This blog is attracting new people everyday, and that means free publicity for the show and the contestants. Can someone pay me for my efforts please? I’m broke and bread and milk are very expensive. As we wake up on a new dawn and possibly a new President of the Republic, let’s try a new approach and see where it takes us – I will try my best not to say anything personal about the contestants even their dressing style. Why? Because I truly believe there’s a star amongst the 7 contestants and don’t want to make this blog about personalities, it’s about vocal abilities and stage presence. In fact some of them are stars in the making (no I won’t lie and say all of them will be Gospel stars).
Guests judges were, Tshepo Nzimande (Lundi’s producer),Twasa the DJ from Lesedi FM and Jam Ally and Zanele Mbokazi (
she’s famous for something, I forgot what it is). Lindelani made a bold statement at the beginning of the show by stating he has no fav contestant –
OH PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
The show was really lively, even Nqubeko had a lot to say. The boy is coming out of his shell.
Clearly the public loves an actor, Kgotso emerged as the fav contestant amongst the voters. His reaction was an Oscar Winning Performance. This boy’s acting talent can seriously be used on Generations. Clearly my HR Warning last week went on deaf ears. The contestants with the least amount of votes were Siphumele, Thabisa and Tshepiso (for the second week in a row).
Saw Shannon (with a new hairstyle), Lusanda (with a bright no name sweater) and Berlinda (looking bored) in the front row seats. Thabo’s shoes and that awful shirt were a distraction. Nomsa (the stylist) are you trying to be Iko Mash?
Now back to the show, I’m going to do things differently this time because some people think I have personal issues with the contestants which is not true. So this week we are posing a question, whose CD will you buy based on yesterday’s performance?
The answers are purely based on yesterday’s performance.
Theme: All time Gospel hits chosen by Lindelani.
Performances
Siphumelele singing Alpha and Omega Its official Siphumelele grew up idiolizing Rebecca, she pulled a Rebecca on an classic English song and I loved it (there’s no point complaining about her 1-dimensional approach, I just need to embrace it cause she can’t change it). Rebecca has a bad influence on wanna-be stars.
Verdict: Yes I would buy her album because she showed me that she is prepared to learn. Not a clean performance but good enough for a yes verdict.
Thabisa – This little light of mine I honestly don’t know what she was doing on that stage besides the screaming that nearly made me deaf and nearly damaged my uninsured plasma screen, but the crowd and Lindelani loved the performance. Please don’t ask me what Tshepo was mumbling after Thabisa’s performance. Now I’m not sure if Lindelani should have guest judges or not, most of them add no value and annoy the hell out of me with their silly comments.
Verdict: No I won’t buy her album
Tshepiso – Uthando luka Baba Adjust your seat before reading further!!!!
Verdict : Yes I would buy his album (my comments are based on yesterday’s performance only). I for the first time watching the show felt the presence of the Lord on that stage. Tshepiso’s performance was “Blessing”. I have said not so nice things about Tshepiso’s performances and vocal abilities in the past. Note that I said performances not personality. But yesterday’s performance hit a nerve and tears started flowing like Niagara Falls. Lindelani puzzles me most of the time, maar his comment about Tshepiso’s performance was really classic (in a bad way) – how can he say Tshepiso did not understand what he was singing. Twasa yena is sick PERIOD.
Kgotso – I’m just a nobody
Kgotso has emerged as a fav contestant, but I have a question for Lindelani – was Kgotso on the right key? Or have you stopped listening to the contestant’s pitches and keys?
Verdict : Yes I’ll buy his album because the song he sang is a true testament of what the LORD has been in my life. The Almighty was present in the house(recording venue) and my living room. As for Kgotso’s comments – I’ve decided to suspend him with my HR comments.
Lungisani – Vuma.
LOL. Why am I laughing? What on earth was he wearing? Now I know why most grown up men sag their pants. Maybe Lungisani should do the same thing as well, because the scene is really not good.
I didn’t know Ragga and Gospel can be fused. There was a reason for Rebecca to reject Lucky Dube’s proposal (
Yep, the late lucky Dube once had feelings for sis Ribs but he was rejected by the Gospel starlet – I read this somewhere in the early 90s).
Verdict: NO, NO, NO, NO, NO
Yazi I am really battling to take Lungisani seriously, but I bet next week he will be back as the # 1 fav from the voters, because he decided to go back to his roots – next to my heart moves (
ooops I meant ZCC moves). The Lord does not entertain mediocre and people should be careful on what they say and do.
Charisma – His eyes are on the sparrow (not sure)
Based on the energy of the previous 5 contestants’ b4 her – Charisma’s performance was below par.
Verdict: No I won’t buy her album based on yesterday’s performance. And no I didn’t say she can’t sing.
Lindelani – Mfundi Vundla is looking for actors and I’m sure you can add substance to Generations as well.
Mzoxolo – Jesus you are the centre of my joy
No human being will ever bring greater joy to your life. Only Jesus will bring long lasting Joy to your life, trust me on that. Shame Mzo looked good jealous down but the person who shaved his head must have probably been born in the early 1920’s. Else how would you explain the corners in Mzo’s head? We don’t do those things anymore, even Jamie Foxx stopped doing them.
Verdict: Yes, Yes, Yes I will buy his album.
Mzoxolo is an 18 year old teenager and wants to bring God closer to his people through singing, so please guys keep your comments to only his singing, you don’t want to traumatize the child with your speculations and NO I don’t know and don’t care if he is …… or not. All I know he can sing. Elimination
This is the part were most people expect me to say,
"good riddance , its about time or Lindelani fixed the mistake he did last week", HELL NO, I won’t say so because I honestly don’t think Tshepiso deserved to be eliminated based on his performance yesterday. If I was using a scoring system, I was going to give him a 10/10 and I mean that from the bottom on my heart. All the best Bra on your future endeavours, can we now record that R&B song I talked about?
Will use Shannon and Lusanda as backing vocalist. Seeing that its public holiday this coming Wednesday, I want to go and attend the live recording of the show but I seriously need a body guard because I don’t think I will be safe alone. After last week’s article that got more people talking, and that made Lindelani take note of what people are saying about his comments, I don’t think I will be welcomed at the studios. So if there are any bloggers willing to attend with me on Wednesday, please PM me(I will throw in free lunch for you).
