Okay guys this is my first article so please be lenient, supportive and understanding. So I’m a sokka chekita and after a couple of weeks went by without anyone writing anything about the beautiful game, I decided to give this writing thing a short. Enjoy!!!
The PSL soccer season has just come to an end and what a trilling season. Celtic started the season like a house on fire but the fire (and the house) soon died down. Khabo Zondo made history by being the first coach to be hired, fired, rehired and then fired. Eish times are hard.
This season also gave birth to one of the greatest goalkeepers South Africa has produced in recent years. Not only did Itumeleng Khune serve for his team but the few games s (I think 2) that he has played for the national team, he has been a marvel to watch and the accolades prove it. That being said, I don’t understand how he was snubbed out of the player of the year award, although I don’t have anything against Elias Pelembe but I believe the former should have collected that award.
Who can forget the controversial footballer of the year award which was awarded to my main man, Teko McModise (ha ha ha he is the McDonald ambassador) many felt that he didn’t deserve it but the guy has served his team and country with such great distinction.
Speaking about my beloved team, another coach bites the dust all thanks to Floyd Mbele. If we’re not careful we’ll overtake Black Leopards for their permutation of hiring and firing coaches. So I hear ODG is heading for Bloemfontein, I wish him all the best for all his future endeavours.
Still on pirates (eish people allow me to rant and rave, since Irvin “Mr Kaffer” Khoza won’t listen o us loyal fans) I hear that they might acquire the services of former Ghana coach Claude Le Roy. I don’t about that move, I’m a bit skeptical. Besides the fact that he was a national coach and I think that he might find it hard to adapt from national to club football, I honestly don’t see him succeeding at pirates. But as soccer laduma would say Watch the Space!
Now moving swiftly along- to the English league. Wow what a season. Well done to Man U and hard lack to my team Chelsea although they stood no chance against that Portuguese boy, in the league and the EUFA. I really felt sorry for my captain fantastic John Terry on that unforgettable May 21 clash. I wanted to hold him and tell him it will all be okay (in my sexiest voice) I hear that Portugal coach Felipe Scolari will be gracing Stamford Bridge next season as the new coach. I don’t know man but, I’m rotting for former Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard. All I know is that Jose “the special one” Morinho will be forever missed at Chelsea.
Still on Morinho, I don’t know whether it was a wise move for him to sign with Inter. What will he achieve with the club because they have succeeded in every competition that they have ever entered. Let’s wait and see.
So the special one, the chosen one, the best of them all, C. Ronaldo is a few days from putting ink to paper and sign for Real Madrid. Once again I have to ask, is it a wise move 4 him??? Financially yes but otherwise I don’t know. I suggest that he speaks to Thierry Henry (of former Arsenal fame and just another player @ Barcelona)
Still on the league, is Manchester City the new Chelsea, in terms of splashing out money to secure prominent players? Their new owner Thaksin Shinawatra has reported given Coach Mark Hughes millions to secure the services of 2 times world player of the year, Ronaldinho. But is he still the best player?
Before I go, I have to speak about the EURO. Who do you think will win the competition this year, I have my money on a Portugal Spain final.
