The 786 chronicle

Usually people choose their names, their family members' names or they try to write a sentence using as few letters as possible when they personalise their plates.

Like :

brother man wasn't impressed with me taking pix of his car. Nxxx



Or they add the numbers 000, 007, 111 or 123. Or they use letters they associate with their religion e.g the AUM kind.

I can kinda guess that AUM has to do with some religion seeing as there used to be a programme called AUM just before 6pm on SABC. Don't know if that programme is still on. It's basically a religious programme started off by the AAAAUUUUUUUUMMMMMMM sound, followed by a man with the Koran. 

At first the 786 number was a normal random number UNTIL I saw three other cars with the same number (different letters of course) and then i began to wonder (obviously). What's this about and the more i wondered the more cars i saw with those numbers. Dunno what Law this is but it always happens that the minute you start paying attention to something specific, it seems you can never get it out of your sight...


Every single car i have seen/snapped with the 786 combination in the registration plate is driven by an Indian person. I first thought it was on cars of people from the same family and all but then it is beginning to look like it could have some significance. So if there is anyone that can  help me unravel this mystery I would be most grateful. What does the 786 number mean? What are its origins? Are there any other places this number is displayed?

unfortuneatly i dont knw what 786 means dont you have indian friends from durban cause they are ussually know things like this?best of luck

Anyway, I still don't get personalising number plates, and yet my "amper boyfriend" has his personalised, i should ask him why.

I c u cannot be separated from ur camera u so love number plates. 
Nna I cram ppl's number plates and every time I look at a car I first check the registartion 
One time I told a colleagues his friend is in the building, that person was suspended from work, he came for his case and the friend said I am lying and I told him I saw his car he said to me but there r a lot of those cars here and I said but he is the only one with that registration and he was so damn suprised coz I am not even a friend of that person he does not even know I exist for that matter.
So i am so hooked with registrations

I also dont understand this number plate personalising thing, i saw a very hot brother the other day, kodwa was so turned off when he drove off and his plate was "pornstar" WTF!!!

Whosoever uses 786 with the intention to obtaining Almighty Allah's blessings, is a misguided person and any attempt to justify it, is steeped in gross ignorance and Bidah.

Fluffy, nna i believe reg plates are out there just like billboards and traffic signs and therefore they are public 'reading material'. The guy in the Entle car wasnt pleased with me taking that pic. He actually got out of his car and asked why i was taking a pic of his car. Anyway, i think my reg plate angle is done FOR NOW.
