etv sucks it to sabc

I don't know what are the latest AR's for news but by etv launching a full on 24 hour news channel before the mighty and well funded SABC, that must have bruised the ego of one or two individuals in the ivory towers that is th SABC.If we are to consider that the SABC has been in existance since the 70's and till to this day SABC still does not have a 24 hour sporting channel, entertainment chanel even a news channel. SABC Africa although has a lot of current affairs can not be seen as a flagship news channel. SABC can't say they have much to show for their progress from the dark of the 70's.
This for me just goes to show the lack of foresight, vision, innovation that is the SABC. I'm personally looking forward to the etv channel it will be a nice addition to the current lot of international programming that has dominated the 24 hour news channel.Its a pity our none-Dstv subscribers wont have acces to it,hence we need visionaries at SABC.To make sure the public stays informed,entertained and on the cutting edge.Cause theres no reason why we dont havemore SABC channels by now or even more regional programming and tv stations. But alas poor Horatio something has been rotting in our state of Denmark for a long time and SABC just shows the symptoms of the problem.

But dali is back in office,so what does that say.but i think the issue is bigger than dali the sabc and its different boards lack vision.they are always reactinery than proactive.hopefully the situation will change in future.

SABC is a contested territoty. If the ruling party does not buy into the idea it will not happen.

Problem is that, the SABC is too political, that place is run like the Luthuli House, thats why there's so much squabbles....

Off topic: I heard that SABC is gonna introduce decoders as well so that anyone who does not pay TV licence will not be able to see TV...Just imagine...(But this is a serious rumor)

@fluffhead :the decoders are part of the digital migration.we are supposd to switch from analog to a digital signal by 2014 if im right.the decoders/set-top boxes will help those who cant afford hd ready tvs to decode a digital signal onto an analogue tv.that most of us own.but the idea of using the set top boxes to get people to buy tv licenses is currently being challengd by etv and sabc denies ever trying to do that.But its a pity our public broadcaster is runned through patronage instead of skill and vision.

They had a skilled person in the name of Peter Matlare but they pushed Snuki Zikalala down his throad and he decided to jump the ship before it sinks.

can somebody update me --- what is the SABC? Is it that silly little channels that have stupid soapies and odd looking newsreaders - that i just an ANC mouth piece - talk about lack of democracy. I wish Dali can just quit --- i have already started Knitting a nice wool jersey for him to wear during his retirement --please dont bore me mr Mpofu -- just move to siberia or something.
