Happy Friday everyone – is the 1st thing I have to say and hope yall will make the best of your weekend.

Have you ever came across someone and after they told you their name - the only thing on your mind is.... WHAT? What were your parents thinking? IS that really your name?

A friend of mine and I have this new hobby – weird names. I have an african name and I thank the lord my mother didn't think of naming me something I'd be ashamed to say it's my name. It must be traumatic to the poor soul having to witness people's expressions after you tell them your name.
So far my friend and I have come across; Survivor (not the show), Don’t-Worry, Button, Hottens and God Knows (yes, God Knows). My cousin’s name is Epaphrus and he is super proud of it… but uses his African name. I know of someone whose aunt and uncle are named Moon Rise and I think the other is Sun Rise. Oh – but why do our parents to this. I’ve heard of Exemption – oh thixo!!

So since I’m taking this hobby to another level – I would like to know of more names out there… I promise *pinch* not to laugh if it's your name!!

And I know someone called Exclamation - I have my own imaginibations of how they came to name her that, but i choose to reserve them for now.

I am almost afraid to write my grandpa's brother's name-Ngq*zende- am not trying to be funny for real.

My ex's name is Bismarck maybe his dad loved the guy that much, the other one is Trymore-I really tried not to laugh when he said it.

But bona apparently mama wa bona couldnt have kids... all her babies kept dying so she thought the best way was to name them after these.

Hi guys,nice blog!Apparently ka batswana, when a baby is born after alot of miscarriages/stillbirths/cot-death etc. (ole letlhomela,don't kno the George word for it),it's supposed to be given any old crappy name.One of the reasons being gore they didn't want to attach themselves too much to it,it was,back then regarded as just a thing cos it was probably in transit like the rest of them that passed before it (hence,bo Selofela, lefu etc.) so it was basically to detach di emotions just in case it too passed.

Guys this weird names are not only in Mzansi. I schooled with an American girl down at UCT and her name was Calamity!!! LOL!!!! And boy was she causing serious chaos on campus!!! Living up to her name a shapa banyana ka stena!!!
