On 3rd Degree this Tuesday:

Episode: Feedback
Broadcast date: 22 April, 2008 at 20h00
Channel: e.tv

3rd Degree looks back at previous exposes and follows up on what's happened in between.

Two years ago the show investigated the assault of young Alwyn Pringle, the sole survivor of a brutal attack in the south of Johannesburg.

Alwyn was left scarred for life and his brother Trevor was found murdered a few of kilometres away, both brothers dumped in the farming community of Meyerton.

An on-going 3rd Degree investigation discovered crucial evidence at the crime scene that had been overlooked by the police; amongst this - the sacks used to wrap Alwyn’s body in.

Following the broadcast - and under extreme public pressure - the police finally collected the vital pieces of evidence from the e.tv offices. Tonight the show finds out if any further progress has been made in solving the murder.

Other stories that will be followed up include:

In another attack, 19-year-old Razelle Botha was shot in the back during a robbery at her Moreleta Park home. She was in intensive care for weeks and doctors said she would never walk again. But in a miraculous turnaround, Razelle defied their predictions and 3rd degree filmed her successful attempts to get back on her feet.

The Potgieter family’s baby died in the care of a Pretoria day mother, under suspicious circumstances. At the time there was no post-mortem. Following our broadcast, the authorities finally acted and 3rd Degree can now reveal the cause of death. The show also follows up on the featured day mother to ask: is she still operating?

This show is one of the many that opens our eyes to what is happening out there.  Although we are more aware of what is happening.... is there anyone focussing on getting the guilty punished and preventing these terrible things from happening.  I personally think that authorities should envolve the community so that we can work together to make SA a safer place to live and make SA the more attractive for overseas visitors.  There must be something we can do to make things better.  Shows like these can be they 'eye', but then we need someone in the back of the scenes to correct the wrong and also to protect.
