I read that Thami Ngubeni resigned from Oprah Magazine www.bizcommunity.com.

And there was this comment

“Thami is right to go back and do what she knows: preaching on the airwaves about a life she barely even lives herself”.

I like her, though I can’t listen to her Metro FM slot with that pastor, she just sounds too holy than thou and innocent for a sinner like me.

But does she really misbehave?

On the other hand is O magazine too hot to handle, is there bureaucracy and red tape in the form of Ms O and her best friend, the managing editor Gayle.

This came as a real shocker to me. Thami seemed like she was enjoying herself at O Mag and I beleive she was doing a fantastic joba as an editor there . I would really like to know the "real" reason she left. @ poshspice, to answer ur question, I am sure the system at O Mag is quite bureaucratic and that perhaps drove her to leave!!!!

Oh Laad! NO! I am so happy for these news - My ma too! - not to be mean but I hated the look, feel and content of the mag since she took over from Kgomotso Matsunyane. I stopped my subscription because the content just seemed too "preachy" bordering on religious... I hope H24 doesn't read this, I will not say no to a freebie subs!

She is a nice gal! She will fly higher than an O mag editorship.

Not so long ago i read an interview yakhe preaching about how nice it was there at big O' describing meeting O herself ...yaadaa yada yada....she sounded happy or was it a front i just hate it when plp lead us on like that mara yazi....

The only person that seemed really happy and moved for "greener pastures" (if there's such after O mag editorship) was the first eidtor, what was her name again? Tendawi Goniwe? but yah, with all these moves and resignations it makes you wonder if working on the Omag as editor is as great as they try to make it

@ Segololo - U see all those resignations and moves are the things that simply prove that some people are good at potraying a "I love my job and I enjoy it so much" image when in the mean time they are unhappy and the systen that they operate under is not pleasing at all. And the irony is that when employees leave ur organisation allot it says allot about the owner and the manner inwhich the staff are treated!!!!!

Yha ne, a male friend of mine asked me if I really get anything from that mag as a woman. I thought hard before answering and i said to him that i'm better off watching the O' show then read any other mag than the O'mag. I just find the content to be too textbook and bible like. Everything is either too mild or too extreme. Its not really varied and adapted to our current lifestyles as young women. Even their bedroom tips are just that, bedroom tips, nothing beyond, they mite as well say 'wear your flannell pj's and ur granny undies and share a fairytale book with ur man'.

yho Sego! Taweni Gondwe disappeared with my subscription money for her magazine The Deal! After writing such a nice article about it too. Emails 2 them are returned and i tried calling their office number and was told they no longer work from there so greener pastures my foot!!

BUT I agree, that people leave their jobs because of the manager. So, in saying that - I think whoever owns the rights to distribute and publish O mag here must be the problem. The Raphaely ladies, damn I love them when it comes to Cosmo but I worry about their management of the O mag.

I also can never read O.i bought the last 2 editions, but couldnt read the articles...glad to know i'm not the problem.

Thought Thami had her dream job, woder why she left. In her first article as O editor she wrote about how she had tried to work for the Oprah show overseas as a student and she couldnt get in and now (then) she was the editor of O-Mag and how when something is meant for you, will eventually become yours...blah blah blah...en nou?

As for her on Metro, i cant stand her as well, i thought i was just being jealous mara something about the way she speaks that just makes me change stations...

Did anyone buy her book?

@ Toxic - Yes Tumisho is quite the abusive type. And as for Connie and her tatoo on her back (which looks good hey, I loved the scenes in Generations where ubab Vundla would show it) Neway I don't believe Karabo was forced to have that tatoo-she was being the "typical" supportive wife, and did it coz her hubby is mad about tatoos..........LOL, oh and I love her hubby's one on his neck it's so rebel like, yet he has that "calm & together look!

ROFLMAO on discovering am not the only victim of The Deal, I was also a subscriber and have been kicking myself for being so gullible, however I was doing my bit in supporting a black sister. Well Taweni CLOSED shop around November last year due to financial limitations, I was rather sad for her and her staff as they really had a good thing going...but her DEAL is no more.
