Story 1 (The Essential Rush)
I am not a big YFM listener but lately I find myself tuning in from time to time. Last week sometime (I think on Tuesday afternoon) I tuned to YFM it was “Essential Rush” time. I was greeted by something that went like this:
Chilli M: I thought we’d stopped with the complaints but there’s a guy on the line who wants to complain.
Chilli M: What do you wanna complain about?
Caller: This morning I tuned into the breakfast show and it was the most boring show I’d ever listened to.
Chilli M: Why?
Caller: That Bridget is so boring?
Chilli M: What did she do that you’d do differently?
Caller: The show was sucking.
Chilli M: The show was sucking? Is there such a word, sucking?
Caller: Yes.
Chilli M: Really? So what would you like her to do? You know she doesn’t have to do it. She decided to wake up in the morning to entertain you guys and this is what you have to say?
Me: [Thinking] She doesn’t have to do it? Really now Chilli, then she’s really sweet and I suppose she does it for free but somehow I so don’t think so.
Caller: Actually Chilli, I prefer it when you do the breakfast.
Chilli M: Really now, don’t try to be nice. (Continues telling the caller off…)
Caller: [Hangs up]
I feel Chilli M didn’t handle the matter in the right way. He could have and I feel should have just said to the caller I cannot answer that please contact the program manager or whoever and left it there. As usual he let his big head take over. He’s just become a law unto himself. The sucking part cracked me up big time though and I feel the caller was also dumb badmouthing Bridget to a colleague. Did he expect Chilli M to agree with him or what?
Story 2 (The Urban Express)
I’m not sure if this was the same day or the day after. Mo has this 5 minute thingy. Basically a listener contacts Mo to let him know they’d like a chat with a certain SA celeb. Mo calls the celeb and the caller and they chat live on the radio.
Before you read let me just say I couldn’t listen to the Anda chick she was too annoying for words. She literally said Oh my God to anything and everything and I’m not exaggerating. So for most of the conversation I let my mind drift elsewhere so please forgive me for the blah…blah…blah’s.
This is what transpired:
Mo to Oskido: I’ve got Anda on the line and she’d like to chat to you for 5 minutes.
Oskido: Alright
Anda: Oh my God… blah…blah…blah… Osiko are you drunk right now?
Oskido: Blah…blah…blah… I’m not drunk…blah…blah…blah…
Anda: Oh my God… blah…blah…blah…
Mo: [Cuts in] Anda you’ve got 30 seconds
Anda: Oh my God… blah…blah…blah…
Oskido: Blah…blah…blah…
Mo: Oskido… blah…blah…blah…new DJs… blah…blah…blah…as a veteran what do you think of the young DJs?
Oskido: [Sounding extremely angry] They are making promos using me. And that includes you Mo ja you’ve got a promo about me.
Mo: No I don’t. Obviously someone’s been lying to you but we’ll sort it out.
Oskido: [Hangs up]
Mo: [Sounding disappointed] I think someone’s been giving Oscar wrong information….
Me: [thinking] Oscar’s such a filthy loser. Mo called him to hook him up with his fan now he’s accusing him of things. Couldn’t he find a better way to address his issues with Mo? Did we have to hear all that? Maybe Anda was on to something asking him if he was drunk…
Story 3 (The Urban Express)
This is somewhat off topic but not enough to create a separate blog so I’m shoving it here as well. This happened on April the 7th.
On the 5 minute thingy this Zuko guy from Roodeeport has requested to speak to Sbu. I sit there listening and thinking he’s gonna ask him whether he’s really coming to Y or not. The guy is all business and asks about Sbu’s communication company, TS Records and what not. He even says he’s doing his 2nd year in whatever at Boston and asks about inspiration and Sbu talks about being self motivated and all. I wanted to scream my lungs out and say…ask him about coming to Y. Granted he had the right to ask whatever he wanted to ask since he took the initiative and used his resources but still what about us goss-lovers? What I’m about to say/write is totally unreasonable but we are all allowed to be unreasonable once in a while so here it goes… Zuko from Rooderpoort YOU PISSED ME OFF!
What do you think of the happenings at Y? Has it become or is it becoming the isht hole that it’s been rumored to be? Are you still loving it? Feel free to offload any YFM related stuff and those who don’t get Y, you are allowed to go a bit off topic and tell us what goes down in your regional radio stations. But like the blogger Vutmi once said…find your way back to the topic please.
And what’s with the “nakedness” ladies of Y?
