I am not very big on writing and I am not very good either but this really bothers me.
I work for a young, well known and dynamic IT company. There are lots of growth prospects here. Employees stay for up to 10 years with this company.
The company is losing people to Australia and other countries. This is because of the crime rate in our country. I spoke to the guy that we said farewell to yesterday and he told me how he can’t take the fact that he can never know whether his wife and kids are ok or not. He also said that there is crime in Australia but you wouldn’t get shot for a cell phone, unlike here.
If you ask me about ‘uDaddy uachievile’, I wouldn’t know a thing about it. I am not into that. I listen to talk radio all day and don’t listen to Retro or the Youth Station.
This morning, one of the stations interviewed Matthews Phosa, the arrogance of that guy! He went as far as saying ‘Arggh, that one’; this was in response to a question that they asked about Yengeni.
In the early hours of this morning I heard sounds, I looked around with a torch, but I couldn’t see anything but I could feel that there definitely was somebody in our yard. Every day when I get home and open the gate I fear for my life. We live in a very dangerous country.
The Scorpions Boss Gerrie Nel, was arrested at the beginning of the week. Jackie Selebi is in court TODAY waiting for a judgement against the NPA. These to me are both the highest bodies in South Africa when it comes to our protection. Yet they are the one with the biggest problems.
If there are so many problems at the top, what is the hope for us down there? Every time you require assistance from the police they can take up to 6 hours to respond. I have an alarm system, but even with them, when they arrive at your property they don’t immediately enter because of a fear of being shot. They scan the area for a while, then go inside the car and then only go in, in the hope that by the time they go inside your property, the robbers would be gone.
This morning they were talking about passing some sort of a law that requests all security controlled areas to screen all buyers. The reason for this is that criminals are now buying these properties just so they can see what is going on and plan for their next victim.
This topic is huge, and it is dear to me, this article does not do any justice to this topic. I can go on and on about the problems that we have in this country, I haven’t even begun to mention the President on the ANC; that on its own is a very thick book.
