Countdown To The Survivor SA Finale

After weeks of Malaysian action the Survivor SA finale's upon us! I’ve been thinking about how it’s gonna pan out a lot and last Friday night - during a tea break while catching up on bombly Day Break for some reason - I calculated out what I think are the two most likely scenario possibilties.

As you may or may not know, the battle to the final two’s going to come down to who can balance the best. I’m irritated that it’s coming down to a pot luck balance between the four of them instead of a strategic vote before a final three challenge but seeings as it’s an unchangeable set-up I’ve tried to make the best of it by taking luck out of the equation in my speculations.

My immediate first impression was that Mandla would wax it with his dexterity until I remembered that guys are generally crap at balancing - which means I reckon either Amanda or Lorette will win it.

If Amanda wins my money’s on her taking Grant to the Final Two and if Lorette wins she’ll take Mandla obviously - even if it means she won’t win against him - which is why she won’t win ‘cos she’s gone completely overboard on the whole moral blah blah.

She’s cooked her rezki with Angie and I reckon it’s the same with Grant so that’s already two jury votes she won’t get. I also think Amanda, Dyke and Angela will favour Mandla’s sense of honour and the strong physical game he’s played so it would be a unanimous Mandla win.

If Amanda wins the challenge I reckon she’ll take Grant, hoping the jury will see him as being too sneaky and disloyal to win. I just don't trust that Mandla and Lorette espesh will be able to get past the fact he stuck with Angie without having some kind of problem with it. When they cast the vote for Angie last week they put themselves against him, making it clear they don’t trust him enough to stick with his judgement in an alliance.

Ultimately I’m wary that if he gets to the final two he's gonna end up suffering from the Rob C. Curse by getting punished for outwitting everyone instead of winning for it. As you probs know I’m a Rob C fan and Grant’s strategy has reminded me more and more of him as the weeks have gone by - except he’s actually taken it a step further by managing to do it without anyone knowing what he’s up to.

He’s flown under the radar but he also totally hasn't in such an intriguingly sneaky and subtly dramatic way. He’s constantly been proactive and in the thick of things - while remaining loyal to his alliances and never stabbing anyone in the back - all while stabbing everyone in the back all of the time and sharing it with us.

It’s his comments to us that remind me so especially much of Rob I think -  he’s always let us in on what he’s thinking and then goes out and plays Survivor without taking any of it too seriously. He’s had moments of being very funny too - all of which puts him top of my list as a fave for the win.

Unfortunately, as I said though, I just don’t see the jury giving him the cash - no jury’s ever given the win to this type of strategy.

I just realized - if by some weird twist of balancing fate he manages to win the challenge - who would he take? Amanda’s got lots of allies on the jury and everyone’s always liked everything about Mandla so it would have to be Lorette - she’s seen as strong etc but she’s also had a couple of issues with people so it’s a good possibility?

Whatever happens it’s gonna be juicily dynamic seeing how it all plays out. Have a humdinging time watching tonight!

I feel completely the same way about the going overboard with the moral talk (and neither Mandla nor Lorette have any more reason to harp on about that now that they voted for alliance-mate Angie) and the annoyance that if Grant does make it to the final two, his brilliant strategy isn't going to be recognised. I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that he most likely won't win because he doesn't conform to the standards of the morality police by actually playing the game.

It does make me happy that should either Mandla or Lorette (esp Lorette) make it to the final two, they are going to be grilled mercilessly. How vitriolic do you think Angie's jury speech is going to be? I'm cackling at the thought.

Will the winner of the balancing challenge take anyone he or she wants to the final? I was under the impression that it was the same moronic set-up as last season and the two who aren't immediately eliminated will battle it out for the second place in front of the jury, thus further eliminating any strategy whatsoever

I also understood it to be the winner of the challenge gets to choose whomever they want to take with them...

Oooh.... can't wait for tonight! Can't believe I'm going to actually be at the live show!

Its going to be good.

I dont fancy Grant for the win though.  I always want the underdog to get it.. or the villain...

Angie's clearly out, so that option isnt there anymore... So I'm going to say I want it to go to Lorette... then Amanda.. then Mandla.. and then Grant.

I like back stabbing and lies as much as the next guy.. But Grant was a schemer that got lucky.  He doesnt come close to Rob C in the brains dept.

So I'm hoping he doesnt take it.   Sorry.

I see Lorette and Mandla going through to the Final 2..  and then the vote going to Mandla - Even though Lorette should win.
