Seven time Grammy Award winner, Gladys Knight will be visiting our shores this spring, she is set to dazzle SA stages with live performance some of SA's main cities.
Knight started singing at church at the tender age of 4. Her professional career begun in 1959 when she formed a group by the name, The Pips with his sister,brother and a cousin. This was after she won a popular Ted Macks Original Amateur Hour TV Show talent contest. Her solo careeer begun in 1978 following a spilt by the group which was at the time called Gladys and the The Pips. She was rated no 18 in the 2005 Guinness Book of World Records
for the successful female musician of all time.

With over 40 albums under her name,some of her all time hits include Licence to Kill, I heard it through the grapevine,Midnight train to Georgina ( ya that one by Tuks is not an original),That is what friends are for and many more.

why do they bring us all these yesteryear has-beens...I bet overseas, they battle to get a request for an autograph...let alone a stadium concert....haayi man they should ask her to perfom in one of there jazz festivals with all of our fresh afro-jazz atrists, an she could open for one of them....(or she shold go perfom in some MP's wedding...or give Khanyi Mabu and her old geezer husband a private perfomance...

What a joke!! Gladys remains a very popular entertainer. She is one of the few legends who were able to keep up with the changing styles in R and B. You can say that about Isaac Hayes but it is an insult to Gladys, she's had a hit every decade since 1960 and she doesn't struggle to get an autograph...............

he BS and spopo..i can't believe u said that! i love Gladys. she's a legend and is still excellent at what she does! unfortunately (i guess b'cos of my age) i couldnt' stand awhole night of her music. but i still love her!

Edmund ok maybe that autograph line is an exagaration BUT according to bilboard..(and my limited knowledge) her last "hit" was that 1995 album "Just for you" and since that they've been givin her "Lifetime awards" just to keep her in the scene...LOL (of course she released some mostly collaborative staff after this but besides gettin nominations she hasnt had another chart-topping HIT or anything for us to sing-along to hi hi hi
and she currently directs the Grammy-award winning choir Saints Unified Voices ,her husband and the choir gives presentations at church buildings throughout the United States...yadah yadah yadah.

anyways different strkes for different folkes, if you wanna go back I want me some Anita, some even some Brandy would do or George Michael as for R.Kelly mmhhhh haaikhona for me

Gladys Knight is America's EMPRESS OF SOUL and is a living legend. Gladys has been active for 50 plus years and is still one of the most popular singers in the world. Her October 2006 release of "Before Me" is an instant classic and shows that her voice has only become richer over the years. She is the greatest contralto ever to sing, bar none. I agree with you Compredo,Gladys Knight is the Empress of Soul. I cant help it if some people are just ignorant to basics .I love Gladys Knight,she is the true definition of Soul.Jusst now I see Oskido has revamped an old Tracy Chapman classic then they go gaga oover it without learning the facts.So its ok:

And also, in the 70's, at the height of the popularity of Midnight Train and numerous other hits, Gladys knight and the Pips refused millions to play in South Africa, lending their talents to help end apartheid. All Hail The EMPRESS OF SOUL, Gladys Knight, and show the proper respect!!!!!
