T20 is HOT

It was a good game of cricket yersterday. I am loving this T20 thing i mean it is ation all the way.South Arica opened the world cup against
WI and it was never going to be easy. When SA won the toss and elected to Field first i was happy becuase i knew that at Wanderers every score we can chase, remember the 438 game.

Chris Gayle had a very good game with a score of 117, the guy scored a boundry in almost every over, he was the one who was taking the matching away from SA pity his teammates did not support him.At one stage i thought they were going to reach 240+ score but after the Gayle dismissal everything changed to our favour.

When we came out to chase the score i knew we were going to reach the target. Thanks to brilliant knock from Gibbs we made the 206 target look like an easy target.Gibbs played like a man possesed with support from Smith, AB and Kemp. All i can say is Gibbs can play all kinds of strokes in the book and Kemp can really hit the ball.

our next game is against Bangladesh on friday in CT all i can say to them is ayeye

I am so proud of the Proteas for their win last night, can only pray and hope we win the tournament. Considering their performance last night and at the warmup match against Australia last Sunday, my hopes are well on their way to being a reality.

T20 is so action-packed, last night turned out to be a Chris Gayle Show until the mighty Gibbs stole it from him. Indeed Mandeza, the naughty Gibbs can play all kinds of strokes. . .

Boy this Chris Gayle was on fire yesterday, I so hope that AB, Kemp and Gibbs peaks at the right time. The proteas must really work hard on the their bowling. The aussies will take us to the cleaners if we are going to bowl like we did yesterday.

i could not finish the game cos i was too tired - i watched gayle's performance and wondered if our boys were not shaken by it - remembered thier perfomance ya world cup-i was worried if Gibbs will perform cos it seems like once he underscores the whole team seem to follow but something told me that it was going to be one of those games u wished you had never missed- big ups to our cricket boys and we know if Gibbs can start there is no stopping him- lets hope he wont let us down-he has the tendency of performing well one match and then let us down the next- the T20 rocks for sure.
the guy scored a boundry in almost every over,- i was like you can stop now we get the picture that is enough for one day.
thanks for the review Madenza

Does Kallis see why he was left out of the initial squad? Phela iT20 does not need players who take 6 overs to warm up before scoring a run.

But Gibbs uyatshisa hey!!!
Looks like Gibbs has resumed his super hot form from the WC.

As for Gayle yena, great innings for him, shame they had to lose the game. He can blame his fielders though.....how on this earth do you drop Gibbs not once but twice?? and Kemp as well.

Lekese: Does Kallis see why he was left out of the initial squad? Phela iT20 does not need players who take 6 overs to warm up before scoring a run.

ROFL. Too damn straight, Lekese. I would have been very unhappy if Kallis was playing - I think the selectors made a brilliant call to leave him out.

Fantastic game. As brilliantly as we batted, however, I think we really won it in the last few overs of the Windies innings. Johan van der Wath and Vernon Philander did a great job of restricting the runs, or we could have been facing a much bigger target.

If Gayle had still been there at the end he'd have killed us, so I was especially pleased with the way we bowled once he got out.

Gonna be an awesome tournament. Bowl Pollock at first change please - not first up. :)

Me thinks Ntini should have been rested as well...me thinks he was only selected purely for the BEE thingie. The game was off the hinjees though...it's just our fielding i have a problem with.

It was phenomenal batting by Chris for his 6 figures, he is a T20 prodigy.
West Indies' downfall was their dismal fielding, they missed about three catches.
Our batting is top notch it cant be touched and as far our bowling is concerned i rather think otherwise. This variety thing might come to nip us on the back, but fortunately for us this format of the game favors medium pacers.

Guys, the Zimbabwe/Australia game, what a pleasure it was to watch that!(lost feeds and all!), but it was too nice, one rarely gets to c Australia so vulnerable, and to lose to Zim, it was sheer joy to watch!!!!

MADENZA
13 Sep 2007 02:25

Well done to Zim who could have predicted it phele the Aus fielded their best team, Zim were just good in the field and 10/10 for their keeper.
What a finish to that game they dont get better than that.

While Zimbabwe beating Australia was brilliant, I'm a little worried about our match against Bangladesh.  We're playing them in Cape Town and if conditions are similar, they'll may favour Bangladesh more than us.

Ye Bhuti
13 Sep 2007 04:20

Citanul, I agree with you but those conditions will also suite Pollock. We have to change the strategy on our balling attact....i think Ntini should be sacrifised.....thats not his game....

@ Madenza brilliant article, as usual
@Ye Bhuti- where have you been, kunini ndikukhumbula man (by the way I am a girl)

>>We have to change the strategy on our balling attact....i think Ntini should be sacrifised.....thats not his game....<<

I agree - I would bring Tshabalala in  for Ntini and I would also consider playing Duminy.  Not only does he offer another slow bowling option, but he should also be more used to the conditions at Newlands.

Citanul
13 Sep 2007 07:05

Adding to my concerns about Bangladesh is the fact that they've just beaten the West Indies.

realist
13 Sep 2007 08:01

Citanul
Are playing a day/night game? If it is day/night game then I think smith should opt to bat  first if he wins the toss. Ntini should be rested for this one. Cape town does not suit his bowling then again I might be wrong, remember when he took six of the aussies batsmen when we beat them by 196 runs.

Citanul
13 Sep 2007 08:41

The match is a night match (starting at 18h00), so there's not going be the situation where the team bowling second has an advantage.  That's what helped Ntini against Australia, and remember that he's now only got four overs to bowl, so it's unlikely that he'll repeat that performance.
