Hey TVSA people first article, I’m not sure whether it forms part of issues that can be discussed on this site /blog, if it’s not my apologies.

I’ll cut to the chase....yazi sometimes …well all the time when you chillin at home watching your favourite show….blam!!!! TV ads !!!!….some of these Ads are horrendous..You can help but wonder ..what the h*ll were they thinking while other are so well planned and executed…..I don’t know whether one is allowed (legally) to name/mention the good, the bad , and the down rite stupid …so lets hear it

Eish, the most irritating ad 4 mina yi Mac Mac washing powder (not sure nge splng), ilamadoda e Build it & ne voice ya this woman we brand power helping u buy betta. Couldnt they have chosen a betta candidate with a voice emamelekayo. Hhai man

downrite stupid: i think now they've changed it...the mtn ad ya di ring tones (i think) where they have a cell with tuks' face on it and his song ya monate was playing and then at hte end they say "download non south african music"...WTF??? why did they have a south african artist and song playing for international ringtones only??? but ke i guess they realised how stupid it was and they've changed it to say download south african music...nx!

The Simba braai flavour-it is just makin fun of black people and I hate that! I think it is down right nasty!

That Nando's ad - I agree with you Magauta.... I can't stand IT - I HATE IT with a passion. The brands sometimes don't have advertising agencies and their marketing departments get to go all creative and produce adverts. AND sometimes its the stupid Brand manager who'll dictate what she or wants in their ad - which leads to horrible horrible adverts. Guys how about the Sunshine D ads "You are my sun shine, my only sun shine"...Aaaaarrrrrhhhhhhh KILL ME.
What I don't understand is - Why are Black people always dancing and clapping in food adverts?

The one ya frisco is this your car? I agree with u Magauta though i'm not sure if it frisco/ ricoffy - it makes me feel that white people see ALL black guys as hijackers.... damn i hate them 4 that!!!!!!!!!!!

Think the Nando's one is really bad. I cant think of a Nando's ad that i liked, but the worst was the one with all those people with their tongues hanging out. That was just nasty.

The Yogi Sip one with the Kwaito guy who is not going to MTV awards is also irritatiing. I liked the one with the afrikaans singer better.

The 100% Phola advert, I think it's for Reds, damn I like those girls, it's one killer advert.
I'm sure of what they are advertising in that one, it's either some expensive coffee or capuccino. There's a woman and a man and they have this foreign accent, the woman is like "oh Henry I love it when you talk foreign. It's stupid but I like it.

The Good: Redds/phola ads are a killer, all of them, big up to the brains behind it.

Stupid: MTN, the sundown ads, were they show the soccer players , bafana be style and then say won something two year in a row. are they advertising the team or MTN "sigh"

The Bad: All the PEP ads. Best prices and more

The Good: The Avis ad of the two young boys, I like the enquiring eyes of the black boy, he is soo cute and oh ofcourse the illovo ad la mama unyusa umculo in the skorokoro car and dances to the hip hop music, it show no matter the age black people know how to groove.

The Funny: The Eno ad and the new Auris ad.

I loove the SABC advert that starts like thi: "today i woke up in a place......."

I sooo hate the Mac advert where they have the sunglasses to block out the brightness of the clothes. Aaarghh....irritating advert

The Good: The joko lady sweeping the floor and doing the booty dance. Embrace your behind. (Idiot who had my ad canned). Oh and the yaris ad with hip-hop kid “going thru the hood”

The Bad: The Illovo gogo. And that “kuyasheshwa la pantsula ad”.

The Nasty: The tastic ad with one kid who asks the surnames because the rice tastes good. *puke* and every Nandos ad.

The ad abt the new Auris (i think it is). When they park next to  ahospital and there's some electricity cut-oo (eishkom at it again)

Auris Ads - The was a lot happening with the Ambulance, the electricity, But the guy kept on asking about the car " does it come in diesel" after everything in front of them that has happened. Thats how interesting the car is. Hope the blondes got it.

Good: KFC ads, Unisa ads, and the engen ad(the one where the attendant sheds a tear coz he wont be seeing that guy in a while)

Bad: Chicken licken ads

Ugly: Cleaning aids ads, and domestos. Particulary, "the toilet cleaning guys", i mean, wat grown man calls himself a "toilet cleaning guy"? And the doom one where they dance after spraying the cockroach...hai.

The MTN and Vodacom ads i think are nice, but i never get what they have to do with the brand

i think there's some creativity there

XC...CTM tiles have Khanyi acting like Hilton..it dont make sense though and I think she gets our attention more than the product (i know thats the idea of using a well known, but she's just tooo....i dont know   papparazzish)

GOOD: all the Polka ads,

REAL BAD: I'm not sure if its the Halls advert or the  Vicks one maar anyway, the old man keeps shouting MAZIBUYE IBOKHWE ZAM,if that were my father, i'd klap him.  Oh and there was another one of that guy that was made to taste everything,onions,flower etc. and he'd end up saying mmmmmm THAT DOES TASTE GREAT,just plain stupid. And on all the gerage adverts, why are all the petroll attendents always black???

Great selection Tshepiso, those two are my ersonal favourites as well.

But i love the Rama one more: Growing is an adventure(when kids are on some detwective mission to get a message to a boy on top of a tree and he sends a soldier toy down) its a classsic.

I also love the OMO one when a kid ties his shoes and gets home and with a snobbish voice: hm mama i learned to tie my shoe laces. it used to irritate me as well, but one day a friend said : "he Sounds just like Muvango's Ndalamo, i wonder if its his son" hahahahahaha

the silly: I laugh despite myself each time i see the new AVIS ad. the visiting professor looks the type in his oversized red jacket and his fumbling about for his fone. But then we get to see the AVIS guy on the other side of the line and he not wearing uniform, but SHORT, A T-SHIRT AND AN OVER-SHIRT.

Why isn't he wearing the AVIS uniform? further the casual clothes look like they shrank in the wash when the Avis guy stands up - that's where I start laughing...
