Final Thoughts

So did the best team win?  The answer is definitely no.

Eric & Jeremy were the best team on the race, only finishing out of the top two on one occasion.  I don't have records for every other season of the Amazing Race, but there surely hasn't been another team as dominant.

Admittedly, BJ & Tyler did pretty well and came first five times, which is the same number as Eric & Jeremy.  However, they also finished last twice and were only saved by the non-elimination nature of those legs.

But BJ & Tyler were the second-best team, and so in the end the two best teams occupied the top two positions.

Yeah, statistically speaking, Eric and Jeremy are, by far, the most accomplished team of any Race, ever.  But it's difficult to compare seasons.  In the first 4 seasons, there were a lot more Fast Forwards, so it was much more difficult for any one or two teams to win so many 1st-place finishes.  Also, there were no real bunching points in the first 4 or 5 episodes of this season, which made it much easier for E&J and BJ&T to stay on top of the other teams for the first half of the race.  And many would say that the tasks were much easier on this race, and the competition was much weaker.  That's a subjective call.
