Have you ever wondered what educational qualifications some of our stars have? Here you know. Ok this time, because I'm in a hurry. I won't rank them.

Jonny Clegg

of Juluka fame. Has an MA in English Literature studies summa cum laude. For those of you who don't know ELS is one of the most difficult studies ever. You don't study grammar there. Ofcourse he has a lotta money. He's from England (if u didn't know)

Bankole Omotoso

You don't know him? Shame on you. This is the vodacom man (as in Yebo Gogo). Yes the one with a white beard.
Well he is not just a poster man for Vodacom. He has a post doctoral qualification in Literature and until last year was working as a senior Proffessor at UCT.
Ofcourse to make it to BABINI'S BLOGGIN BILLIONAIRES you need to be loaded so on what merits is he here (you might ask). Well, upon retiring from the academic proffesion, this brother has opened a very lucrative Vodacom enterprise and moved to Jo'burg. He is (in case you didn't know) the father of Akin Omotoso (film maker who was "khaya" from Generations). Prof Bankole is also friends with Man Booker Prize winner and world renowned scholar Wole Soyinka He is also said to have tutored Man Booker winner Ben Okri. HE RECEIVES THE MOST EDUCATED ENTERTAINER AWARD courtesy of BBB.

ps: there are many other stars who have other educational qualifications but I'm rwriting in a hurry and will update this article soon enough.

ps: some UCT drama graduates (am mentioning no names) had very average marks- some even below average.

ps:Doesnt' mean they are geniuses. Drama is one of the courses where you don't need an exemption to do it in most SA universities.

ps: on Thursday we'll talk about those who are stinking rich and have very little education (some not even matric) hi hi hi.

u Queen, Karabo no Ngamla andiqondi ukuba they even attempted to go 2 varsity, I bet u they only have i matric, bona shame they are where they are because of working hard and not because of some qualification in drama or something. BIG UPS 2 THEM, they are showing abantu out there ukuba nothing is impossible if you are determined.

Ndi Matsheloni Everybody

I attended some classes with Lira at Vaal Triangle technikon. I think she was doing cost and management accounting. Im not sure if she finished the diploma because soon after she became friend's with Athur's (yes Mafokate) sister/cousin who attended the same technikon we did not see her that much on campus.

morning all and welcome back Babini. sure people have degrees and so do we, i am not going to praise anybody and thier degrees, getting a degree or education is a choice, have you ever wondered that some people decided not go to school by choice and were not forced by circumstances to stay at home or start their own company or something and they became successful.

Now having a degree doesn't guarantee anything, so i guess their hard work is greatly rewarded but you can be successful without a degree, maybe thats what needs to be emphasised because there are a lot of people who don't have money to go to UCT.

I think maybe you should also acknowledge the people who made it without the degree. ONLY EXPRESSING MY OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!

Education or perharps Tertiary education is a choice really, some people make it, I mean some of the most powerful people in Mzansi have made it without going to varsity, but now I think we are way out of the topic, wasn't the topic about stars/celebrities with educational qualifications ????

Dinny(Katlego) I was not at all suprised that she went to Varstity she talks a lot of sense and her points are always well thought... then take Kelly Khumalo, need I say more????..........Oh yes Yonce...Katlego is so articulate no doubt about that. And its good to encourage people to go to school you know mos...Whether you like or not.. Formal .education is still a key to success.

So Nna.....I am proud of people who take formal educaction seriou. Remember if we don't encourage it ...most youngsters will drop out chasing afta fame. So Ladies like Khensi Nkosi, Katlego Danke , Phemelo Motene , Rosie Motene , Noni Gasa and them.....Thank you for showing us that education is a way!

1.They refused her at Medical school to study medicine because of her accent, or
2. SHE felt her accent wasnt cool enough for Medical school, or
3.you are trying to say people must not think she's not educated because of her accent....please clarify when you get the chance..mna ndixakekile ngale-accent....ngoba nami ngikhuluma isingisi like ZUnglish LOL as long as my grammar is on point , I'm ok because I understand where I'm comin from and I'm proud of it....(like how French people dont have hang-ups about having to master the english accent like English people...they are proud of their French accent because it distinguishes that they are French....

nokubonga- I agree with you lol. She's very genuine and intelligent. If you ask me, I'd say drama was the best choice she could've made. There's a lot of politics at the School of Medicine in UKZN. Ranging from ever-changing entrance requirements to racial matters of which I won't talk about coz this is about TV after all.

monchooza- honey I have another article in the pipeline (thought it would be out by now) but I need to double check something lest I make another error like I did by awarding Phat Joe an unearbed degree, hi hi hi!

babyjoe i agree with u on the not needing a post matric qualification...to an extent. firstly there is nothing wrong with ur english if it's got an accent seeing as we weren't born english! in fact, i kinda like it as it makes it easier to figure out what mother tongue a person is...so long as your grammar is accurate and articulate then no problem there. some people don't have simply because they went to "multi racial" schools early or simply because they read alot.

Bey i understand ma uthi it kind of opens your mind/brain for lack of a better word butke i think reading can do the same thing for you (u don't have to have a degree/diploma to do this)

mna if u could go back i'd skip tertiary and go straight into working seeing as it got me nowhere...

some people refer to Warren Buffett as stingy as hell and others as a saint. he donated all his riches to charity (CAN YOU BELEEEEVEE IT??). he still lives in the 3 bedroom house for almost all his life, still has simple things in his house like your normal folk, doesn't drive no fancy cars, doesn't even have a driver, has no computer at his desk or email address or cellphone. bare he only meets with his directors (of his companies) once a yr and he only has 2 rules for them, 1. do not lose your shareholders' money, 2. don't forget no 1. hi hi hi
i remember one of his granddaughters' was on oprah one day and complaining about the fact that they all had to wok and htat their grandfather wouldn't give htem anything, he believes in hard work, and how she was some babysittter of some rich family even thou her family was much richer than them! apparently he only gives them money for education and educational purposes. whew!

It is said his house the one you just mentioned has no walls or secirity gates. He doesnt wear fancy clothers or rive fancy cars.. Each and every cent counts to him.

blaqueboi- she also studied drama at UCT and she says she was constantly rejected after she finished studying- unable to get a job till she teamed up with the rest of the guys and they came up with city sesla. The writing of books to be is quite news to me. I've never heard it before. Where'd you get that lol (hope you're a girl- I can't say lol to a guy)
