Hello my people...
Yoohhhh there’s soooo much happening at The Deep! But first I would like to point out that since they listened to us (you’ll read why later), now there is one more request. Since Isidingo is always up to date with current affairs (e.g. Lolly & Paul were talking about Princess Diana’s concert), how come they haven’t upgraded the intro (what’s the word used for it??) It still has Cherel, Dup, Tim, Lettie kissing Dumisane, etc. Now unless these people are coming back to the “daily drama” then I don’t see why we still need to see their faces. So you’ll change it neh?? Good... I give you 2 weeks flat.
I also caught Top Billing after the Omnibus (I was Ripped during the week) – Neo (Lettie’s son) is the son of the Isidingo’s Executive Producer Phumla Hopa. I wonder if he gets paid or just getting some training. Those Top Billing hott boys renovated Neo’s bedroom. Now that I got that out of the way…we move on.
Let me get back to the recap for the week 2 - 6 July, as I said too much was happening so if I missed out some details forgive me.
Anton is finally dead!!!
The producers of the show have finally granted our wish, Anton Bornman is dead and we couldn’t be happier. Well The Deep is disturbed by it coz everyone seem to know about it. Geez news travels fast in a small town. Here’s how it went down:
Farrow went to the Bullers and told them that Anton is dead. Len told her that he thought he had more time, but apparently not. She didn’t however tell Len how Anton died. Len and Lolly were disturbed by Anton’s death and Lolly asked if Farrow killed her brother? Len told Lolly that if she indeed killed Anton, then it’s better that less people know about it.
A day before the funeral, Len asked Farrow if she killed Anton. She told him that she took a pillow and placed it over his face for a couple of minutes, and how he didn’t move, he just stopped breathing. When the funeral took place that was a confirmation that Anton was really dead – sigh – Farrow was feeling guilty that she killed her brother, but Len convinced her that she did the right thing. To cut a long story short, Farrow has gone to Durban. She said she’ll come back and visit. Its ok if you stay in Durban, if you come back I hope it will have nothing to do with Cherel!
Alec & Rajesh have been punk’d
Speaking of Cherel: After Lee told Alec to stay away from Rajesh’s case he didn’t listen. Alec received an email from Cherel (apparently sent from a cell phone) saying that she heard through the grapevine that Anton Bornman is dead. Alec called his peeps to trace where the cell phone is. It was then found that it is at the gravesite where Anton was going to be buried. Rajesh wanted to warn Lee that Cherel is there, but Alec told him not to. Alec rushed to the gravesite and found……Freda the Blonde from the Grayston mental institution. She’s been acting on Cherel’s orders. She sent the email and she told Alec that Cherel warned her that she might be tracked down and told Freda to give Alec the message that she’s gone and she won’t be coming back. Now haven’t we been telling you that all along. You just had to listen to a crazy blonde??
Back at the funeral service, Lee saw a woman (from the back) that looked like Cherel (well the hair looked like Cherel's), she turned her around and realized that it wasn’t her. Rajesh witnessed this and told Lee that Cherel is not there. He told her that they (he & Alec) got a call that she might be there, but she’s gone and won’t be coming back. Rajesh also told Lee that he’s letting go of this Cherel hunt (thank Gaad!!!!) and that she should do the same.
Lee was mad to find out that Alec was still working on the Cherel case and gave him an ultimatum to either drop his James Bond P.I job or loose her. She got into her Mercedes Benz and drove off – to the launch of her new Hotel.
Q gets a PA
Back at The Rec: everyone is impressed with Q and singing him non-stop praises. This was until Vusi found Stella sleeping at her desk....(Beyonce's upgrade u - my ringtone…its Shuga telling me they r having fun at Suite 16 - hmm this is when I wish I had a Jumbo Jet…sigh..) Ok where was I…?? Stella was tired because she’s been doing her work and that of Q’s. Vusi thought she was really sick with her woman problems and gave her an afternoon off. Her excuse was that she has iron deficiency that’s why she’s so tired. At that moment Q phoned her and twisted her arm to do more work for him. She agreed.
When Maggie told Stella that Q is using her she told Maggie that she’s jealous. Maggie took the matter in her own hands and told Siyanda how Q has been getting all his work done. Siyanda approached the Matabanes and Vusi about Q. Vusi was on Siyanda’s side on the matter of disciplining Q. The Matabanes were just happy that the work gets done and the fact that Q sold 2 units. So they didn’t care how he did it. They then suggested that they get a PA for Q to help with admin work. They got a girl called Primrose (we don’t know where she comes from) and they seem to be getting on each other’s nerves - well Q enjoys getting on her nerves. But I caught her watching Q now and then. He tried to charm her by telling her that she looks like one Ethiopian model he used to work with. She’s just not buying his charm, let’s just say we’ll see how long her “Q guard” lasts.
Q is so into the whole selling houses thing so much that he suggested that some houses be renovated to suite the young and trendy. It took sometime to convince the old fashioned Matabanes but they were eventually sold. His charm worked again!
The Duncan Hotel Opening
It’s the opening of the hotel Lee bought at The Deep and she named it THE DUNCAN HOTEL as I guessed. As she was giving her new staff the opening speech before guest arrived, Alec walked in and apologized for everything. So now everything is back to “normal”.
Back at the Haines office, Harriet is convincing Barker to go and support his daughter. He thinks she’s making a mistake opening a hotel at The Deep. He eventually changes his mind and went. Lee was thrilled and took him on a tour of The Deep. They went to The Rec for lunch, he was a bit skeptical about The Rec. He started by asking for single malt, The Rec only had brandy and whisky. Primrose (who’s also helping out at The Rec) proved to be some kind of a blonde. When Barker asked how old the brandy is, her response was “I’m sure it’s still fresh, I’ll check the expiry date”. Haai eh eh. She also clumsy, spilled the brandy on Barker! It was later when Zeb walked in and saw Barker on his own (Lee had to go) and joined him with a bottle of single malt. They drank and got sloshed with Zeb, he called Lee and told her that he’s spending quality time with his new best friend Zeb Matabane.
Now seems like Barker is missing! No one knows where he is or what happened to him after he drank with Zeb. He missed a meeting with some men. He (the man) just stood there while Harriet was trying to track Barker…hawu bathing.. I’m sure extras are allowed to say something!! He could’ve at least said “This is unacceptable!!” something!! He just stood there. Niemand is looking for Barker and Lee is also asking around..!! Where’s Barker?? Did he run into Cherel… Ohhhh Gaaad I hope not!! If Isidingo mentions Cherel’s name again, I’m gonna quit the soapie.
The horrible domino effect!
Rajesh told Georgie that ON!TV is moving out of Georgie’s building because they’ve built new studios. Hmm do I smell a set revamp?? new studios? new trendy low cost housing? New Intro (don’t forget about that)?? Slu is worried that they’ll loose money because their only tenants are moving out. He told Papa G that people came to the bar because they wanted to meet Nandipha and Lolly. Since Slu hasn’t got a raise in two years he’s been forced to do other things to make money. At that moment he received a call and agreed that he’ll do it. It wasn’t clear what he was talking about until….
Maggie was on her way to the bank and walking towards her car on her cell phone. She was busy talking and looking for the key in her bag when 4 armed men in baraclavas came! They told her to hand over the keys, she was hit with a gun and one man almost shot her. The other guy (Slu) stopped him from shooting Maggie because they had the car key. The men got into Maggie’s Hyundai Getz and drove off.
The next day some dodgy guy (Bafana) came to Papa G’s to give Slu his money (R6000). Bafana told Slu not to disturb him when he’s working - he was obviously referring to Slu stopping him from shooting Maggie.
Maggie, clearly traumatized is drinking her pain away and having nightmares about the incident. Her tenants are worried that she might become an alcoholic when they found an empty bottle of brandy.
Ma’Agnes went to see Maggie and made her soup (it was strange seeing her there). Stella also came to visit Maggie. Ma’Agnes went to the bathroom and came back and overhead Maggie telling Stella that she’ll never trust black men again because her hijackers were black. Ma’Agnes was offended and accused her of making a racist remark.
Maggie came in at The Rec with box of whisky and dropped it. She started shouting and blaming the waxed floor. Ma’Agnes told Zeb about the racist remarks she made, and Zeb thinks she should be fired because Agnes is feeling uncomfortable having Maggie around. Maggie is irritatingly shouting at everyone, I dont know why she doesnt take some time off to get over her trauma!
Niemand came to see Maggie and told him that the men wore baraclava because they didn’t want her to see them. Which means she might know who they are? This led her to stress about someone she knows putting her life in danger. When another hijacking took place and the driver got shot, Niemand asked Maggie if she remembers anything at all about any of the men. She didn’t remember anything until she had a dream and woke up remembering a voice… will she remember who’s voice it is? its Slu, but what are the chances of Maggie hearing Slu's voice anytime soon. She doesnt go anywhere near Papa G's. We'll see how long this takes...

Phew that took a while - too many activities taking place at the deep. Now since the producers listened to me and you about Anton finally dying and pulling a plug on Cherel, take this opportunity to request them for some changes!
What changes do you want to see on Isidingo??? The producers read this blog, so tell them now!! I already asked for the Intro (someone give me the term used plz..) to change - it’s about damn time.
