Before we had Generations, Muvhango, Isidingo, we had iStori. Yep, thats what we called it, iStori. It was not strange to hear someone saying "Ngiyobukela iStori" (I'm going to watch the story) *LOL*

We looked forward to 19h30, to sit in front of our black and white tv's and watch iStori.. It didn't matter what the story was, it was just nice to have some sort of entertainment.

Some of the stories included:

Bophelo ke Semphekgo Featured our very own Kenny Mashaba as Nkwesheng. Your favourite character was most probably Senthaolele or  Makgaribishane (Nkwesheng's mom). By the way you can get this on dvd now.

Nkwesheng
Nkwesheng aka Kenny Mashaba

Lesilo, who can forget Raithlwane and his pipe?
Sgudi' s Nays -  your favourite charecter was Laqhasha or Sdumo
Ululu ubuyile,  Lulu was an owl. The signature song went a little something like "ululu ubuyile, ululu uyi ncutshe"
Dikolong - this one recently featured on SABC 2. It was funny to see how the people acted, the clothes they wore, the hairstyles...Iyho, retswa hole (we've come a long way)
Ilifa lika Mthethwa(featured Magic Hlatshwayo), i think this is the one where they had "umfazi wephepha" and Gqijimpi. I can still sing the signature tune (Kunjenjenje, kunje kanje, kungefa lika mthethwa)
- Dimilione tsa Kiriri, the signature song: "Re banna, ba dibete, ba dibete, re yo tsoma, dimilione di milione". I think this was about mine-workers, anyone remember?
Kwakhala Nyonini,  featured Menzi Ngubane aka Sibusiso Dlomo
Sbu

So i'm interested, which stori was your favourite, which one would you like to see return to your screen?

i can see this is an old article, but i believe we still wish to see old stories on tv. Since 2007, there are stories that was never repeated. The likes of #Sefofane Manka & Dimillione tsa Kiriri. Halala, i loved Mafutha and Lerato, his Dog.
