Isidingo 11 – 15 June Recap

Age aint nothing but a number

Last week Calvin invited Lolly for Crayfish Potjie but didn’t have money to buy crayfish. So his new sister Nikki asked her mom for some financial help. All they ended up with was 1 crayfish and a seafood mix. The parents went out for dinner and the kids made the potjie. Lolly showed up for supper and loved it. She had a couple of glasses of wine. When Nikki realized that 3 is a crowd she went upstairs to sleep. That’s when the Lolly and Calvin started making small talk about how and where Calvin grew up, a moment of silence and Calvin kissed Lolly. She kissed back but they were soon disturbed by the door – Frank and Natasha walked in and Frank was not pleased. Lolly ran out and left the Frank and his son to battle it out. Frank told Calvin to stay away from Lolly and he said he won’t.

The next day Len was bugging Lolly for some details of what happened with Calvin, when Frank demanded to see her in his office. He told her to stay out of his personal life. She promised to, but told Frank that he will let Calvin decide on what he wants to do with his life. Calvin on the other hand was determined to make things work with Lolly, even went to visit her at the Bullers' to spend the night? He reached to kiss her and told her that they must spend the night together because he knows she wants the same thing. All he got was a conversation, a kiss on the forehead and sleeping on the couch alone.

Frank thought that Calvin sleeping at Lolly’s place meant that they might have slept together. After Lolly told Frank that he’s her boss and not her father, she told Calvin that the kiss was a mistake and their relationship will not work. She even told him that he will find someone else who will make him happier. Shame he begged like a true 19 year old he is, he took it like a boy and not a man. Find chicks your own age dear Calvin.

Frank apologized and told Calvin how he let his past pain cloud his judgment about him and Lolly. He once fell for an older woman and fell for her, he eventually found out that she was seeing his best friend. When Calvin asked who his best friend was; Frank told him he’s the gang leader of the New Yorkers. Calvin had this “No ways – you’re lying dad – you were best friends with a gang leader” look. Calvin also told him that Lolly broke up with him. So all is back to normal for the rainbow family.

Ooooh Brother…

Speaking of finding chick of his own age, if you look around, there isn’t anyone that Calvin can hook up with except for Nikki, but that will be gross. They will need to bring in someone new. One thing we know for sure is Ziyanda Mazibuko has a younger brother. She appeared from nowhere on the phone with her father. Her father told her to bail out her brother Manqoba Mazibuko from Bulgaria. Now this is interesting, I hope they are bringing us a young eye candy, and I’m glad I don’t have classes anymore so I watch Isidingo during the week. I don’t think I’d be able to wait for the Sunday (omni)Bus!! Let’s introduce “Q” (because his white friends couldn’t pronounce his name).

He’s a model and actor and 2 or 3 credits short to his law degree. He was shooting a movie (Return of the Black Rider) in Bulgaria where he got arrested (no one knows why). Ziyanda asked Vusi if he could hook him up with a job at the development site (remember they are building houses with Dr. Leabua), Zeb agreed. Vusi even asked if he can also let Q stay in the cottage. Ma’Agnes told him that she’s not sure if they want an unstable person to stay in the house - eeh Eggie?? It’s not your house so shut up - see it this way - Q moves in – Lettie has a thing with him, while Vusi has a thing with his sister. Barker has also been reeled in to help get him out of Bulgaria. So who do you think or hope they put in this role for your eye-candy pleasure?? Do you think they saved someone from backstage from the sinking boat?? Thabo(??) aka Howza aka Chase would be good to see there. Come give me names - maybe they still have time to change him to the one we want…. Or we’ll just have to wait and see… I’m excited – time to see some young blood up in there.

The secret’s out!!!!

Lee phoned Vusi first thing in the morning (she was in her Pj’s) to “hear a friendly voice”??? Lee?? Are you having the hearts for Vusi now?? It seems that Vusi (being the nice guy he is) helped Lee because she was smiling. The conversation led to discussing a new hotel development. Days later Vusi asked Lee if he knew anyone who would love to buy the hotel. She saw the hotel and decided to buy it. (Just had to get that out of the way)

Back to the secret: Lee walked into Farrow and Rajesh talking about the card Len found at Tanya’s grave. Lee started freaking out and demanding to know what they were discussing and not to hide stuff from her, especially if it concerns Cherel. I turn my volume down when Rajesh and Lee are talking to each other because it also ends up in a screaming match. When Lee was chatting to her (old) friend Harriet about the incident, she got a call from Alec who told her that he was coming home in a couple of days, because he was done doing whatever he was doing in Lusaka. She was so ecstatic – Alec is also reading this blog I see.

The next morning Orlando (where has he been) sees that Lee is in an excellent mood, she tells him that Alec is coming back home. He figures, the flowers that Lee got must be from him. Lee is happy to see the beautiful flowers and freezes when she reads the card. They are from Cherel, apparently with a threatening message (did anyone see what it said??). She took the card (apparently it looked exactly the same as Tanya’s) and showed it to Rajesh. They shouted at each other again. She went to the ON! Production office and demanded that Lolly give her Farrow’s number because he has a feeling that they know where Cherel is. Lee went to an open plan office and asked everyone (about 8 people) to leave because she wants to speak to Lolly?? Why not call her to the boardroom or her office. While she was screaming at Lolly (who was refusing to give her Farrow’s number), Rajesh walked in and asked her if they could discuss this in his office. “No Rajesh, I just want to know where Cherel is. You are probably hiding her until she gives birth to your baby!!” Lee screamed and stormed out. Lolly asking Rajesh: “Cherel is pregnant with your child??”. Rajesh didn’t explain and left.

Lolly told Farrow and Farrow told Len. Now everyone knows why Rajesh is desperately looking for Cherel.

Alec is taking longer than a few days to comeback, but it seems that the Hotel deal is helping in distracting Lee. She commented that the name “Horizon Hotel” was old, I have a feeling she’ll name it after her brother and call it the “The Duncan Haines Hotel”… or something to that effect.

Amper maar nie stamper…

Eish the sibling relationship that we are all sick of was at it again this week. Anton and Farrow! The opening scene was of Anton and his stubs (is that what they called them??). Both his legs are now amputated. I was wondering how they made it look so real, but I realized that he was sitting, the rest of his leg hanging under the bed, then made those stubs to make like he got no legs. It was almost convincing. We all know Anton is not happy about his new situation and doesn’t want to hear anything suggestions of how to live his life from now on. Didn’t even want to consider prosthetic legs! When his sister tried to show his the light side of life, she told him that she will bring Len to speak to him because he’s got a fresh approach to life. When Farrow tried to explain who Len was, he figured out that Len is Farrow’s boyfriend. He got so angry and told her that while his legs were being cut off she’s been with her boyfriend. Told him he’s disappointed and asked her to leave. The irony is, he kept on saying “Loop!!” so many times, and loop also means “walk” something he won’t be doing for a while. If I was Farrow I would tell him to go hang himself. The poor girl has been with him and never did anything for herself and when she gets some lurving, he gets mad?? He’s lost it…

Two guys went into his room and threatened him with a scalpel asking him where Cherel was. To save some space, these guys were sent by Barker after Lee told him that he saw Farrow with Rajesh and that they might know where Cherel is. These guys almost put something into Anton’s drip. They were not successful because Farrow and Len walked in on them. They ran out. Len tried to calm Anton down but he kicked him out, asked him to “loop” again. Farrow reported the incident to the cops. She suspected Lee went there to attack Anton, she went to her office and started screaming at Lee. Rajesh came in just in time because if he didn’t, Ice Queen Lee would’ve got a beat down!!

When all this happened Anton got an idea to just end his life because he can’t take it anymore. He called someone and was brought some substance that he injected into his drip, he said the THE LORD’S PRAYER in Afrikaans while he committed suicide. Farrow came in to find him sleeping, tried to wake him up, but he wasn’t moving. Anton is dead!!! Yeeeeyyyyy Finally!!!!......................................................................................... Cut to the next scene, the doctor said “He’s out of danger, you caught him earlier!!” What???? He’s still alive???? Oohh come on!!!!

He eventually woke up! Farrow blamed Lee for trying to kill his brother. Barker asked Lee if it ever occurred to her that Anton could’ve tried to commit suicide. When Lee told this to Farrow and to assure her that she had nothing to do with Anton’s "attempted murder", Farrow didn’t want to listen. Instead she told Lee that she had reported this to the cops and they might be on to her. Anton was disappointed that he woke up, he had hoped he was dead… so do we bra, so do we.

The Zulu She-Warriors

The girls are still learning IsiZulu and making good progress. Maggie greets in Zulu now. Ma’Agnes was helping her revise: the cat eats - Maggie – Ikhati lidla! Sigh.. I hope it actually helps them learn some Zulu in real life. Lolly said this: "Umfana ukhakhela ibhola" (I don’t know if they were trying to be funny) but to those non-Zulu people it sounds like she said the boy is doing the number 2 on the ball (soccer ball if I might add – don’t let your mind wander), Nandipha corrected her “Umfana ukhahlela ibhola” meaning the boy kicks the ball, a soccer ball people.

Len on the other hand asked Georgie (who’s also been missing for a while with his Slu) to teach him tsotsi taal. Slu offered to teach him fanakalo. He was speaking fanakalo to Lolly and Maggie. A debate came up about why Maggie is learning isiZulu and not SeSotho. Zeb felt that people make IsiZulu more superior than other African languages. Vusi justified by telling them that it could be becase King Shaka fought Queen Victoria's  army. Parsons even told Nandipha that she had been married into a SeSotho family but hasn’t been speaking SeSotho. Nandipha is now learning how to speak SeSotho, she tried to speak to them. She sounded better than her cousin BadBoy Tee!! Tee breaks the language. It’s cool that she’s trying though. Something is bothering Len, he’s been in a foul mood and Farrow is not taking his calls. It could be because Anton asked him “Loop” or that Cherel is out there pregnant and alone.

That’s that for the week.

You know IsiD always gets me thinking especially relating to real life issues. This week Farrow did something that most girls are scared to do. She asked Len to give a definition of what’s happening between them. She told him that if he’s there for a few nights and will disappear, she’d rather end things now before going deeper. Len told her that she’s not committing himself but would like to see where this relationship is going. In short, it’s not a fling.

I know most of us (ladies) have been in a situation where you’re with someone but you are not quite sure of what to call your relation with a man. Is he a friend, b-u-d-d-y, a friend with benefits, a no-strings attached? (we all know that they may not be string in the beginning, but somehow they creep up on you and before you know it you are all tangled up and can’t get out.

When do you ask you “friend” what’s happening?? I met a new friend this weekend and her definition was (I love this girl): If you are exchanging saliva its not as friendship, it’s not a sexship, it’s a relationship.

So when do you ask the big “what’s happening between us?” question? or do you not ask and see where things take you. It’s quite scary though, but at the same time you need to know where you stand…

To the guys: have you been asked?? What was your response??

This should be interesting…. You know what to do…

Spread the Lahv and holler!!!
