I am so disappointed by most of the SA, soapies, but Generations is the worst. It is supposed to be the one of themost watched tv shows, but I wonder why. The show is so unrealistic and it is so outdated. We love the show but it just does not leave up to expectations. The characters, the storyline and even the living arrangements are so not real. Let me break this down a little bit
Generations (the action of producing/ generating)- Which generation is this soapie focussing on, because they are certainly not focussing on this generation. This generations is faced with, AIDS, HOMOSEXUALITY, TEENAGE PREGNANCY, POVERTY, DRUG ABUSE, WOMEN & CHILD ABUSE, CRIME,ETC.
I for one feel as though the show does not target the above points, I feel as though the writers are leaving in this unrealistic world where everything is just perfect, (maybe wrong for a few days, then afetr that back to normal). To be honest with you that world is non existence, so producers stop kidding us or even yourselfs, And the researchers, where do they live, dont they read the newspapers and see what is going on around the world.
The purpose of any tv show is to educate, entertain while realting to the audience, that is why audience are gained. I strongly beleive that Generations have failed in the above.
The Characters
they are protrayed as these perfect individuals, yes someone makes a mistake, but within a few weeks its all over. Here are some references to prove my point:
1. Why did Siyabonga have to die, they could have kept him alive to spice up the show, to make the viewers more interested by creating a bridge between everyones favourite couple "Ntombi & Sbusiso" now they will get back together and do what, leave happily ever after. (happly ever afetr doesnt exist).
2.Why is Anne & Karabo suddenly friends. what ever happened to the alwyas evil characters (Ntsiki) Anne was a perfect candiadet for that part. Someone to laugh while Sbusiso & Karabo are grieving like she did grieve when she lost her son, bcoz of Sbusiso, why is she so happy to forgive and forget. (it doesnt add up).
3.there are so many singles on the show. what ever happened to cat-fights, whereby ladies bite each others heads off, when they see each other because of a handsome hunk. Or someone cheating with his colleauges wife behind his back. Or heart brakes, (the only heartbreaks, Ntombi & Karabo and now it seems like its all over).
4.Poor Karabo- yes she is the lead, but does everything have to happen to her, Busi could have miscarried Jack's Baby or something. And every men that comes to the show must go true her first (Brooke). Women (especially black) are percieved in a wrong manner in Karabo's character.
I WILL BE BACK WITH MORE, JUST COMMENT, DISAGRREE, BIT MY HEAD OFF ON THIS ONE FOR NOW.
