I am pissed people, I really am. How could they do this to Nick again, how many times must this guy think he’s a father only to find out he’s not? Nick deserves the best father award because of his interaction with the kids on the Bold set but not once, not twice but THREE times now, they have snatched fatherhood away from him. WHY?
First he thought he had fathered RJ with Brooke only to find out Ridge is actually the father, then he impregnated Bridget and bye bye Baby Nicole, she was a stillborn, now when he at least thought he was a father to Baby Dominick, the truth is revealed that Dante is actually the baby’s father after a marathon love-making one night stand he had with Felicia in France. Ok, before I get ahead of myself here, let me start from the beginning…..
It was the day after Nick and Bridget lost their baby and both were grieving their loss turning to each other for support. Bridget handled her grief quite well I must say, she did her fair share of crying but at least she didn’t lose it completely like some other local soapie queens I know, yes Karabo I’m looking right at you.
In her intense grief, Bridget started thinking back to the day that she lied to Nick about having an abortion. She then approached him and told him that he can have his freedom, he’s no longer tied to her. Nick is taken completely by surprise and tells her that he’s in it for the long haul, why is she talking like this?
Bridget explains to Nick that her baby died because she was selfish and insecure, testing his love for her by lying about the abortion but Nick reassures her that he loves her and they still have Baby Dominick to raise together. Not yet convinced, Bridget tells him that they ultimately got together because of the baby, now that there is no baby, Nick could finally be with her mom, stupid hey?
Why oh why would you send your hubby whom you love into your mother’s waiting arms? Because Bridget knows that she doesn’t have Nick’s heart 100%, that he only stuck around because of the child?
Well anyway, Nick tries to convince her that they can make things work out between them, they still have a son and there will be other babies, they will have their happily ever after. Yeah right, not in soapieland you won’t.
Later, Taylor stops by the beach house to visit with Bridget and offer her condolences. The two get talking but not before Taylor pours some wine for them both and only she, Taylor, drinks glass after glass. They talk about Bridget losing Nicole and Taylor losing Ridge, yet you can’t really compare the two, can you? The death of a child versus the loss of an arrogant jerk of a husband who’s always been a mummy’s boy and hung up on his ex-wife/lover, Taylor you are better off my dear, even if you are seeking solace in the bottle.
Meanwhile, Dante is over at Felicia’s place and all he can talk about is Baby Dominick. Felicia is not exactly sure what Dante is on about and he explains to her that the future she envisioned for her son might not pan out exactly as she had planned. He reminds her of their night in Nice when they met and both were pissed out of their minds, Felicia was dancing on the table and Dante took her home and made love to her all night long. Now that’s what you call an Italian Stallion.
Felicia is anxiously waiting for Dante to get to the point not liking the direction his story was taking. He goes on to tell her that, yes they did use protection but that was only the first time, they made love throughout the night (lucky Felicia) and no protection was used then. What? Are you kidding me?
No protection used for a one night stand in this day and age, have they not heard about the HIV virus and AIDS, was Felicia so drunk that she did not know the difference between the plastic sheathing Dante used the first time and the sensation of skin to skin the second time around? I am appalled, disgusted by her drunk behaviour and to think her sister is married to a man who has the AIDS virus, one would think she would be extra careful. Ok, rant over, onto the story.
So a disbelieving Felicia is not willing to accept what Dante is trying to tell her, that there’s a possibility that he fathered her baby. He worked it all out, that she gave birth much later than the supposed due date after making love to Nick so that makes it slightly impossible that the kid was Nick’s. Only a paternity test will reveal the truth but Felicia is in denial, there’s no way in hell that Dante could be the father, it is Nick’s baby and no matter what he says, Nick and Bridget will raise Dominick, Felicia angrily lashes out at him.
Dante has no alternative but to seek help from his doctor friend, Taylor. He explains the situation to her and the two of them make their way over to Felicia. Felicia is angry that Dante had further complicated matters by involving Taylor in a theory that is laughable, a mother knows who the father of her child is, that is why she named him DOMINICK after his FATHER’S name, she spits out at Dante.
Eventually Taylor reasons with Felicia using her psycho babble experience and the three of them make their way over to the hospital to do the paternity test. Needless to say, Taylor had to break the shocking news to Felicia that the tests accurately reveal Dante to be Dominick’s father. Bitter tears flowed from Felicia, how could this be, there must be some mistake, she cried out but Taylor said the tests were 100% accurate, Dominick’s DNA is a complete match against Dante’s.
Ok so I presume Dominick got his blonde locks from his grandma Steph then, does it now mean Baby Dominick will now be Baby Dante because I don’t see how Dante will tolerate his son being named after his arch-enemy or maybe they can just call him Baby Dee for the time being.
Dante was shocked but also excited about the fact that he was a father but at the same time, he knew he wasn’t ready to be a single father. He told Felicia he needed to see his son and get to know him. Dominick was spending the night at Nick’s place and Felicia was forced to phone him and tell him to bring the baby home immediately because she missed him and needed to be with him.
Since the time that Felicia found out about Dante being the father and not Nick, in all her scenes with both Bridget and Nick, they kept telling her how much Dominick meant to them, how they boy will help them through their grief, etc. I cannot imagine how terribly guilty Felicia must’ve felt knowing that she had to burst their bubble. Only thing is, she was not the one to break the news to Nick, Dante was only too pleased to do the dirty deed. This all happened on the day of the memorial service Bridget had for her baby.
With Stephanie’s help, yes she’s back in town, was apparently in San Diego seeking ways and means of finding a curable treatment for Felicia. So Bridget called her up and asked if she could have a memorial service for Nicole at her mansion, naturally Steph was only too pleased to assist.
Steph made her way over to Taylor’s place and invited her to the service but then she sees a file lying on Taylor’s coffee table. Its Felicia’s file and we all know how nosy Stephanie is, she immediately questioned Taylor demanding to know what’s up with Felicia but Taylor stayed strong and refused to divulge personal information about a patient. Steph then tells her she will find out the truth from Felicia and Taylor is unable to stop her.
Bridget is a very well liked character in the soap because the next day everyone puts their differences aside to support her in her time of grief. Ridge and Brooke were there, Taylor, Massimo and Jackie, Thorne and Darla and everyone was dressed in black.
Just before the service started, Dante went over to the guesthouse and told Felicia that he would look after Dominick while she’s at the service. She agrees but tells him to give her ten minutes to get ready. It was in that ten minutes that Steph made her way to the guesthouse and questioned Felicia about the file she saw at Taylor’s. Too weak to fight her mom, Felicia gives in and tells her about Dominick’s paternity test which proved that Dante was the father.
To say that Stephanie was upset would be an understatement, she lashes out at her daughter for her promiscuous ways and even slaps her when Felicia comments on finding out the truth so soon, not like her mother who kept her secret for 40 years, you know the one about Massimo being Ridge’s father and not Eric. Mmm, history has a funny way of repeating itself.
Immediately after Stephanie slapped her, she hugged her tightly and told her they will get through this together. Felicia tells her mom that Dante is at least willing to keep the truth from Nick and Bridget, just for that day. Well that promise didn’t hold out for long.
Bridget and Nick are just about to start the service when Felicia steps in without Dominick, saying he’s sleeping. Bridget quietly tells Nick to go get Dominick since he has to be at his “sister’s” memorial service. I sense trouble coming!
So Nick makes his way over to the guesthouse and surprise surprise, he runs into his arch enemy Dante. Nick wants to get his son from the room but Dante is blocking his way, saying that Felicia left the boy in his care. Nick can’t believe the arrogance of the guy, how dare he keep him away from his own son, he forces to get past Dante telling him he wants his son. Just then Dante says the words that I’ve been dreading Nick to hear, “he’s not your son, he’s mine”, Dante tells a stunned Nick.
Nick is taken aback by this declaration and Dante arrogantly explains to him what happened between him and Felicia in France. If one could see right through to Nick’s heart, we would probably see his heart breaking into a million pieces, yes that’s what they’ve done to the guy, yet again.
Trying to establish what’s taking Nick so long, Bridget goes to the guesthouse and sees the two men in a confrontation. Now when it comes to Bridget, Dante is so inlove with her, he can’t think straight and when she takes the sleeping baby from his crib, Dante does nothing to stop her. The two men knowingly look at each other over her head, at least they have one thing in common, nobody wants to hurt Bridget.
The service has finally started and one by one, everyone goes up to say a few words and provide gifts of gold, frankinsense and myrr, oops sorry wrong baby story.
Everyone provided some or other gift of remembrance such as rosemary, rosebushes being planted in her honour, shipping vessels being named after her, lilacs, etc. I must say for a character that never existed, this was one of the most touching memorial services I have ever seen in a soap. At least Thorne, Darla and Massimo got to have some screetime and some dialogue, yippee for them.
After the service, Nick and Felicia get into a confrontation about the baby and who the daddy is. Felicia tries to convince Nick that things need not change, he and Bridget can still raise her baby. Nick looks at her as if she’s mad, telling her that Dante will never allow that, he’s a father now and he’s gonna milk it for all its worth even up the point of using the baby to get to Bridget. Well Nick wasn’t far off the mark.
When Bridget goes to Felicia’s guesthouse, she finds Dante there and he starts telling her that things are looking down for her now, she’s hurting inside but things will look brighter for her in the future because something significant has happened and she will understand it all in due time. Dante is really playing his cards right, he needs a mummy for his baby and that mummy is Bridget. Only thing now is to get Nick out of the picture.
Meanwhile Steph and Dante come face to face and Dante uses his best defence ever by trying to get Steph on his side. He tries to convince her that Bridget belongs with him and the baby, that Nick is still inlove with Brooke and only stayed with Bridget because of the baby, now that there is no baby, he will go running to his mother in law. I’m not exactly sure what gives Stephanie the powers to decide who belongs with whom, why is she the judge that must decide people’s fate and why the hell does everyone run to her?
In the study, Felicia and Bridget are singing each other’s praises. Oh honey you are so wonderful, strong and brave, no you are, no you are, stop it you are! Wonder how long Bridget will sing Felicia’s praises when she finds out the truth?
When Nick arrives home, he finds Brooke there and he breaks it to her that Dominique is not his son. He becomes emotional asking her, why can’t any of the babies he’s become attached to, be his? Why? That’s a question I would also like to know.
Naturally Brooke in her sincere way comforted him, no she did not drop her panties, she genuinely comforted him like a friend would but their main concern was what this news was gonna do to Bridget, she’s become so attachéd to that little boy, how will she cope with this devastating news?
Well we don’t have long to find out because Bridget soon came home with the baby and Brooke made her exit telling Nick that he has to tell his wife the truth, TONIGHT!
When Bridget comes into the living room, Nick takes her aside and tells her that he has something important to tell her about Dominick. She’s immediately on her guard asking if Dominick is sick but Nick reassures her that the boy is fine. Frightened by the look on Nick’s face, Bridget asks him, “what is it Nick, what do you want to tell me’?
In other news, Ridge is still trying his damndest to get Brooke into bed again but his romantic gestures don’t seem to be working. On Valentines Day, Brooke walked into her bedroom and it was lit up with candles. Ridge gave her a gift which was so tacky, I’m surprised Brooke didn’t slap him.
Picture a black lacy bra and panties set with huge red hearts where the boobs go and a big heart in the centre of the panties. Does Ridge think he’s dealing with the old Logan? No ways man, this girl has moved on and Ridge has no flipping clue. He even went so far as to buy more than a dozen Hallmark cards and not one of those cards could say what he was really feeling. I WANT SEX LOGAN AND I WANT IT NOW! MY EGO CAN’T TAKE THIS *bleep!* ANYMORE, GIVE IT TO ME LOGAN! I’VE GOT SOMETHING HARD BETWEEN MY LEGS AND ITS NOT MY TAIL……
Even Taylor made it known to Ridge that she’s aware Brooke is making him jump through hoops to win her heart. Man, even Dante mentioned it to Steph that Brooke is not giving in to Ridge because she’s still hung up on Nick.
The thing is, Brooke is being strong not giving in to Ridge and I’m quite proud of her but her resolve is slowly starting to crumble as she’s being nicer and nicer to him.
Back to the Bridget and Nick scene, Bridget demands to know what Nick is holding back and he stalls and stalls, says a few words and stalls again until I could literally reach in my tv screen and ring his bloody neck. Just tell the woman dammit.
Eventually after like 15 minutes and too many ad breaks, Nick finally tells her that he is not the father, Dante is. Bridget is shocked, she looked more shocked than the day Nick told her he had fathered a child by another woman. She then realized how cut up Nick must feel after losing Nicole and Dominick so soon after each other and she holds him tightly. She then realises that this is not a trainsmash, they could make it work. She just has to convince Dante to hand the baby over to them so she quickly runs out, on her way to Dante’s place.
Meanwhile Dante is on cloud 9, no not our Cloud 9, she should be so lucky but he was smiling from ear to ear once he had baby furniture delivered to his house. First time we get to see Dante’s pad, not too shabby at all.
When Bridget arrives and explains that she knows everything, Dante is pleased. He tells her that things need not change, he still wants her to be Dominick’s mummy and Bridget is relieved that Dante understands where she’s coming from. She mentions the word adoption and Nick in the same sentence and Dante tells her “no, that’s not what he had in mind”. What does she mean Nick, there’s no place for Nick if he, Dante is gonna be the daddy and Bridget is gonna be the mommy. He refers to a time when he was willing to raise her baby now he needs her to do the same for him, help him raise Dominick. Bridget looks at him stunned.
When Brooke arrives home from the beach house, she’s surprised to find Stephanie waiting for her. After the usual coldness between the two, Steph gets right down to business when she realises that Nick told Brooke about the baby before even telling his wife.
Steph explains to Brooke that she spoke to Dante about the situation and he opened her eyes to a new way of solving this tragedy. Brooke needs to take Nick back so that Bridget will be free to raise the baby with Dante. Brooke is shocked by what Steph is suggesting and says that this is all about Steph not wanting Brooke with Ridge but Steph gives it right back to her, reminding her about how she said Nick was the one all along, not Ridge, why would she deny herself the opportunity of being with the one that she truly loves. Bridget and Dante will be a family and Nick and Brooke can raise her children, it’s a win-win situation for all, she should grab it with both hands.
Now that Nick may or may not be a free man, will Brooke listen to Stephanie and finally give in to her long awaited lust for Nick? Will Dante’s plan to win Bridget’s heart pay off now that he’s a daddy and Bridget is more than willing to be a mommy? What about Ridge, will he get what’s coming to him in the form of NO TAYLOR AND NO BROOKE?
