Desperate? Not exactly. Disgruntled? Most definitely. But with “Desperate Housewives” starting its third season Thursday, some viewers still steaming over the show's disappointing second season, which is still on M-Net Series, can only hope that the women of Wisteria Lane will be turning over a new leaf, or street.
Here are a few suggestions from
TV Critic Karla Peterson, on how to get that home-improvement ball rolling:
1. Shake out the welcome matt.
With stellar supporting characters like Edie and Mike stuck on the sidelines last season, life on Wisteria Lane got awfully claustrophobic. The wives need character backup, and so do we. Bring back the delicious Felicia Tillman, and all is forgiven.
2. Beef up the brunches.
Clearly, they go together like Bree's lunched with scones and Green Tea, so why don't the housewives hang out anymore? They feel very disjointed and way from each other. Nothing keeps this show buzzing like some juicy gossip talk, so let's get that play-date started and go over to Bree's for a lunch-in.
3. Consider character remodeling.
By now, three seasons later, we know that Lynette is harried, Bree is repressed, Gabby is self-absorbed and Susan is a klutz. In honour of the new season, how about giving the housewives at least one new character trait each to make them more juicy and keep them interesting?!
4. Open a new can of worms.
Now that the Applewhites are out of the way, the show needs a spanking-new mystery, pref a murder one like good old season one! Since creepy Orson looks like his just a stand-in for last season's creepy George, the story of Bree's Latest Psycho-Suitor doesn't count. We want something, big, exciting, thrilling that ties in many Wisteria Lane Residents so they don't feel like side line supporters.
5. Pick up after yourself. From Tom's love child to Bree's surprise solution to her Andrew Problem, Season 2 introduced some plot possibilities that are too good to lock in the basement. Set them free in Season 3 and go creatively wild. Lets hope to see some new, fresh and inspiring, not to mention pushing the limit, over the top and dark comedy plots!
Oh and bring on the sex, well as the ad suggests, there seems to be plenty of that coming up!

Recaps- What I Saw Wrong With Last Season:The Applewhite? Not really. Last season's major problem was the lack of flowing continuous storlyines which limited the show's creative overal direction throughout the season. For each character (possibly except Lynette) thier characters experianced too many major turns in the second season, some not so good. For example Bree: (Raging mother-in-law, investigation of Rex's murder, George, Alcohol, Andrew, The Institution). Opposed to Lynette's weak, Storyline of the Week which didn't allow for the character to shine with a great storyline.
The show didn't flow and most of the housewives and thier storylines didn't contribue towards the show's 'Main Mystery Plot'- The Applewhites. Where as in the first seaosn, most of the characters and storylines tied close regarding the Mary Alice Suicide, where as in the second season, the characters went off to do live thier own lives.
The quick changing of storylines also contributed to the dampness of last season, for example, how many [boring] storylines did Susan go through? Who wanted to watch 3 episodes about Susan and her 'wondering spleen' or about her father. Creatively speaking, the storylines where dead off boring, and didn't tie as nicely together with the whole show, so naturally the season felt a bit off.
The main mystery was too easy, not enough complications, twists and turns. And if I'm not mistaken by Episode 14 (which aired Monday on M-Net Series) the Mystery was solved, for viewers that is. The mystery only surrounded the Applewhites and failed to include other cast members, opposed to Season 1's Mystery which Mike, Mrs. Hubber, Felicia, Paul, Zack, Susan and to a large extent some other character fitted nicely with the whole season storyline. Season 2 had a variety of storyline's good and bad, but failed to have one massive major one to keep the ball rolling and the intrigue going throughout the whole season.
Fix Season 2's problems and Season 3 should be on par with the greatness, or at least intrigue of it's first season!
